if you see a chain gang building a railroad, stop and look at the guys swinging the hammer. The rail spike seats in just a little bit each time the hammer strikes it. ....The level of detail is actually nuts.
I started this 2 days ago. On pc, max settings. The attention to detail is pretty much unheard of. GTA 4 had some pretty good attention to detail though.
First game to make me cry. Started playing after an arrest and decided to quit being a party girl and stay in focus on myself and used my free time playing on a PlayStation given to me by my sister law. I had never heard of red dead before. Only GTA. Figured since I liked GTA this game would be a fun little adventure nothing to exciting. I had to stop playing the game for a few months after reaching a certain part and I knew what was about to happen. I’ve made so many life long friends from the online community. This game literally changed the course of my life. Arthur is just a video game character. But that character kept me wanting to stay away from my former behaviors. He isn’t real but the way I became so invested into his journey became real to me. Rock Star has been greedy and making choices that the community absolutely hates. But because of something they made I’m a different better person. Arthur was real to me. This game is so great. Not perfect. But I’ll forever have so much love for a character that I thought was going to be a forgettable little side hobby. If anyone reads this. And especially if you’re playing for the first time. Stop watching any videos about it. Focus on the game. Go through the first play through blind if at all possible at this point. Explore. Help strangers. Trust me when I say first play through. You’ll know after the game you’ll play it all over again. Enjoy.
I get it. Self Redemption is the hardest of all. I had to begin reparenting myself at the age of 19 or I was doomed. (I'm 62) I wish Peace and Strength for you.
Same here, a question before I watch, does it contain allot of spoiler's? Currently just in chapter 1 going to a train. I am not sure if watching this will 'ruin' some of the wow factors or not:P
I am experiencing this Masterpiece in March 2023, yeah I know its late but you know it was in my wishlist since it was released and boy I am hooked now, loving the environment, beautiful visuals, interesting side quests and the detail of this game is just amazing. Thank you for this great video and indeed your tips will come very handy in my journey :) ..
Same. passed RE4 Remake and got insanely bored quick. Had the physical copy since it was on sale, and I have to say... worth every penny. Hunting for that "Legend of the East" Satchel.
Tips: 1. You can Pat your Horse from time to time while riding it to restore some of its Stamina. 2. Snake carcass rot slowly if at all. 3. You can fish using Small Game Arrows for perfect fishes. 4. You can steer fishes in shallow water towards land and they will die and will be ready for pickup although icons won't appear in the minimap. 5. You cannot saddle up the White Arabian if you haven't completed the 1st Hosea Mission. 6. Take a temporary horse which has a saddle bag so that you can carry more small carcasses. 7. You can bring most criminals to a Police Station for a reward. But don't have him/her long on your horse or they might die. 8. Remember if unskinned carcasses rot you lose all the resources from it. Skins and meat after butchering will never rot. 9. Black Bears will run from you but Grizzles mostly don't. 10. You can Lasso a Bison but can't kill it with a knife. 11. You can Lasso most charging animals who can be lassoed. 12. You can bring lassoed enemies and dead bodies from river towards you with the fire button.
One tip I always give new players doesn’t exactly even have anything to do with gameplay itself, just open your mind and get immersed into the games world, it honestly makes the game 10x better for me at least, it’s probably dumb but a few people told me it helps them get into it because at times the game can be boring if you’re not fully into it
I agree. My first play through, I found it incredibly boring because my objective was to "beat" it. I found it tedious quickly and the huge amount of shit you can do, overwhelming if not distracting. On my second playthrough now and it's been notably more enjoyable now that I'm leisurely exploring & trying all the elements I rushed through or ignored. Just wish I could have enjoyed it this way my first time. However, beating it once was almost necessary for me in relieving the massive sense of FOMO in order to actually sink into and appreciate the world and free will the game gives.
@@Fajitaman69 perfectly said. I’m playing Skyrim now and it’s the same thing for me lol for whatever reason I never really got into Skyrim until I just got the special edition…omg is it a beautiful game
I agree , what made this game so interesting was learning the whole world and what to do, could i do or shouldn't , outside the missions but the help guide to this game is so long it kills me which brought me here.
Tips: 1. Sometimes you will find animal carcasses on Pearson's table. You can skin it and donate it back to Pearson for easy resource. 2. You can pull a dead body from the driver seat of a caravan with your lasso. The same can be done to some of the dead animals that are in water bodies.
Omg. Seriously?! I was hunting beavers FORVER yesterday for my satchel making, and more than once, they floated off into the lake. I tried to push them to shore with my body, with no luck. I wish I thought of the lasso! Good to know now at least - better late than never lol.
Me too, I played RDR when it came out, but I’ve not been gaming for a couple of years , so I’m just catching up with this and assassins creed like they’re brand new .
Biggest tip if a horse is a one of spawn and you want to use it in the epilogue do not get it with Arthur. Wait to get it with John, Arthur's horses disappear forever when he does. Doing catch and release fishing can rapidly raise your honor. Max honor reduces prices in shops 50%
Something I’ve picked up is that when in Dead Eye, you can view the most vulnerable parts of an animal. Try and aim for those, as it usually makes for a guaranteed kill and a clean one at that.
Glad to know I'm not the only one lol. Saw a deal on the game and decided to get it and so far it's been pretty great! Still figuring out how to play it though hence starting this video lol
I've been playing RDR2 on & off since 2018 & I'm still finding things I didn't know about. Slowly going for all mission golds this, my 3rd complete play through. Enjoy, my friends, best story & best acted game I've ever encountered to date. I've been playing the franchise since 2005 starting with Red Dead Revolver, and between Phil & Fizhy I've not only learned a tremendous amount about all the depth in this game & all the historical connections plus all the Western Film references in this great story, but also enjoyed a ton of fun & humorous content from these two fantastic presenters . I grew up a "Duster" fan, Wanted Dead or Alive, The Rifleman, Paladin etc. on TV & all the western movies from the 50's to the present, Stagecoach, Rio Bravo, both 3:10 to Yuma's, The Unforgiven, all the Eastwood westerns, & Open Range amongst my favorites, this game allowed me to live in all those films. A gamer's dream come true, I'll still be playin' this game on my deathbed. 😄
Excellently narrated beginners guide and to the point. Just got it on the winter sale, been waiting a really long time to play it. Thanks so much for the great vid.
Appreciate that! Thank you! Even though its a few years old, you'd be surprised about how much people are still just playing it first the first time. Thank you for subscribing too, I have a few RDR2 video ideas in the making, so I hope you'll enjoy them
10:46 High honor will also give you a discount at all stores. Maximum honor level equals a 50% discount on all prices. BTW, excellent video. I'm on my 5th playthrough and still found things I didn't know about.
Everybody has high honor until their first trip to Saint Denis 😂😂😂 that place sucks and when you're flying on your horse and smack into someone killing them then you lose honor points it's as if the game doesn't want you to be high honor it's much easier to just be an outlaw I'm sure you could easily get honor back by walking around for hours greeting people in Saint Denis but fuck that 😂
Sounds like Darren Till just convinced me to play Red Dead again👀😂 Edit: just a note for anyone regarding #11, you have to complete Hosea’s hunting mission early in Chapter 2 b4 the white arabian will spawn by the lake🙃
În Ch. 2 you can get the black Arabian by encountering a robber killing someone's wife. Just take the black horse near that area and change you saddle. You just saved yourself ch.4 and like 900$.
This game just went on sale for a historical low on epic, experiencing it for the first time. Dodged all youtuber playthroughs because I wanted to experience it myself. I'm at around 50% progress now and I'm glad I've been so thorough, knew most of the tips already. I never knew you could duel with just about anyone and also I had no idea the hats (or clothing items) you collected went in your inventory permanently. Thanks!
Got this on sale for my Bday and I’m going into 2024 starting this adventure! This video was what I was looking for! Simple tips that are good to know going in without spoilers
LOL, @ 3:50, when he whistled to get his horse to buck off the thief and the horse turned around while the guy was falling off and he got absolutely YEEETED off that thing, lol.
May 30th, 2024. 44 years old. This game went on sale for 19$, so I bought it and started playing for the first time. Amazing. I'm so fuckin hooked. I remember when GTA 4 came out, the level of detail and effort blew my fuckin mind. This game beats all that by a wide margin.
I bought Xbox about 10 months ago. RDR2 was the first game I bought for it. Been playing RDR2 almost weekly basis since that and it just amazes me how much details and all sorts of hidden stuff there is. Enjoying this slow progress at the tender age of 48. I had RDR for PS2 many years ago. Never had time to play it.
Tip: You can consume Almond in most Bars to replenish your Health Core. Valentine also offers Pickled Eggs which you can consume as many times you want. You can also consume Stew from the show camp near Valentine to replenish all your Cores but don't stay there for too long. All of these are free.
I've owned this game for over 2 years and have only now had time to actually spend the time to get into it... needless to say it is an amazing game and i am loving it
I messed around and bought this game 6 years ago on opening day. Regrettably after less than an hour of gameplay I foolishly decided that I didn't like it and end up trading it in. It's interesting that now in 2024 digital games dominate the market and majority of the times that you buy a game, it'll forever be in your library. I re-purchased the game on a Black Friday sale recently and after spending a couple days playing it, I truly don't know what tf I was thinking on the first time around. I'm definitely glad that I gave it a second chance and only wish I watched more videos like this before I made that decision. At least I get to play it now while there's a shortage of such good and original games though. Nice Video!
I play till Ch2 than stoped and my buddy played a bunch but didn’t finish. We just got it on PC and are “playing together “ sometimes I forget we aren’t in the same lobby because we are doing basically all the same thing. Been really fun.
@@yourlonglostbeachball It’s impossible to not get spoiled while playing this game the first time all these years later, unfortunately. Because I’m in my first play through as well, and just looking up info to explain something will lead to reading peopIe giving the story away. It sucks.
@Anti - Ethnic Cleansing it's about the experience not how the story ends. We all know how the Iliad and the Odyssey, wuthering heights and War and Peace end yet we stillread them ....,
I'm playing through for the 1st time. My 13yr old bought it for me cause it's his fav game & he plays on ps4 and I play games mostly on PC. So he wanted me to experience it. It's his fav game & I must say I'm in love! Plus getting to bond with my child over a video game is just wonderful.
What I like doing is taking my bow with improved arrows down to lagras and hunting gators. They don’t attack if you’re far enough away and it gives you big game meat. You need improved arrows for a one shot and aim in the middle of their eyes. Cooked big game fully restored all cores. Hopefully this helps someone
You inspired me to create my channel months ago. Whenever I'm drained and need motivation i seem to find one of your videos , watch it, then i'm energized and focused to get going on another production. Keep up the great stuff!
Nice clear guide mate. I knew most of the things, but is a good reminder on my 2nd playthrough on PC.... This time I'm Gonna stay in horseshoe overlook to hunt and upgrade before playing through missions: Satchels, talismans, trinkets, weapons, gold, etc 👍
I’m doing that on my first playthrough atm because I read so many comments like yours lol. It took forever for me to get one beaver pelt for creating one of the satchels. I’ve yet to learn how to fish yet though - is it ok to progress the story enough in chapter two to do that quest? I’m currently in the middle of the “Pouring Forth Oil” quest (I already stole the oil wagon and put it into position). “A Fisher of Men” is the next quest (although I do have a yellow marker with an M to do on the map atm as well - I’ve already rescued Micah from jail). These are the missions I still have left to do in chapter 2: “A Fisher of Men,” “An American Pastoral Scene,” “The Sheep and the Goats,” and “A Strange Kindness.” As a side note, it sounds like I really messed up on one thing... people say you can get 4 new guns from the different gunslingers in the gunslingers quest (like Billy Midnight’s revolver, Granger’s revolver, etc) by shooting their hand when they’re holding the gun. I never did that - and I never saw any guns to loot during my interactions with them - I already met/dealt with all of them. I haven’t turned the quest in yet though because that apparently happens in a different chapter... but I’ve heard people say you can’t get the guns on replaying the mission, so idk if there’s anything I can do at this point. 🤷♀️
Haven't played a ps since I got a ps 2 for my 30th birthday, 20 years ago. Got given a ps 4 and have literally just started this game, it's the only one I ever really wanted to play. So far am not disappointed even tho I just got killed by a bear 🤣🤣
Getting the fishing pole before the mission you would normally get it does not allow you to start the survivalist challenges which requires you to catch 3 bluegill fish
I beat tha game way back when it came out and loved it , i put about 5 days of play time in , but i haven't touched it in years , i forgot mostly all this stuff the only thing i remember Great is the main story , but i wanna go through and play it all again, your videos are very well edited and very helpful, i enjoyed it
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 I didn't I was so worried about accidently seeing the ending or having the story spoiled that I just kept doing the main story
@@DannieDecentVlogs same thing I did lol beat it in like 3 days then went back and replayed it a while after doing all the side stuff, I’m on my third replay now
It’s June 2023 and I just finished downloading RDR2 for the first time and i’m about to start in a few minutes! I’ll definitely be referencing back to this video a few times 🤠👍🏼
If you wanna get rid of a hefty bounty and don't have much money to lose you can turn yourself in at the sheriffs office. I believe you wait him to pull his gun out and you get the option to surrender. You'll lose a fair bit of money tho so you might aswell spend it first.
Great video! Had this game for years and only now getting into it. One more honor tip I’ve seen online, when donating to camp, only do $20 at a time. That will get you the max honor increase per donation. Takes a long time if you have a lot of money to give though.
I tried to get into rdr2 about 3 times and never got past the first two hours, i just didn't get hooked. Loved the first one but 2 just wasn't doing it. Well its half way through 2023 and it was on sale the other day. ... It's FINALLY clicked, this game is going to be my life for the foreseeable future!!!!
I received the game as a gift in 2018, but for some reason I never opened it. I started playing it a few days ago, and suddenly I lost track of time and spent like 20hrs over 3 days just getting into it. I just got my 2nd holster. Fantastic game...
You get a hungarian halfbreed for free in Chapter 2. If you accept the first Wanted Poster, leave your horse on the slope and walk to Albright. Arthur automatically takes Albright's horse for his pursuit. Deliver the prisoner to the sheriff, ride back, whistle for your horse, and ride both horses to the stables in Valentine. The hungarian halfbreed is perfect for fighting and hunting because it is a warhorse and does not shy away easily. You can also have the same horse for free if you steal it from Mr.Wrobel's stable when collecting Strauss's debt.
@@FilbeeGaming I can't rob Mr. Wrobel. It's hard enough for him as it is. Albright is going to be hanged anyway, so I don't feel bad about keeping his horse.
@@FilbeeGaming There are 3 other Arabians you can get for free as soon as you get into chapter 2. You can steal a Black Arabian in Saint Denis. In the wild - A Warped Brindle Arabian just west of Wapiti indian reservation, and a Red Chestnut Arabian south-west of lake Owanjila. You can also find a wild Perlino Andalusian near the first 'R' from Roanoke Rigde. And - you can steal a Brindle Thoroughbred of The O'Driscoll early in chapter 2 when they attack you by the road close to camp. There are little to no difference between the horses when it comes to speed. (about 18 -19 seconds between the fastest and slowest in long trial tests) Bravery is just a myth. Stamina will never run out at level 4 bonding if you pet the horse every 15 second. The only notable difference between the breeds is health, but unless you are in a lot of gunfights or run off cliffs/hit trees all the time it's not an important thing. The horse stats are more important and makes a difference when you play online.
One other tip that was critical for me is about fishing. I couldn't for the life of me reel in effectively or fast enough from rotating that thumb stick around, especially with some of the bigger stronger fish that pull harder. In the controller settings, you can switch that to just holding the X button to reel! It makes it so much more effective, and a lot easier to do that while you're using the sticks to pull the rod to the side or back.
While capturing the white arabian is a really enjoyable, and amazing experience (i did it every time i started a new game), you can get the literally best horse early as well; the black arabian, wich is only awailable for purchase at the epiloge with John. You can head to Saint Denies, hang around the big building, near the clothing shop, at night, after 6PM, and you can witness a robbery, where a young man try to rob a pair of wealthy person. If you get rid of the robber (shoot him or so..) you get a bonus good karma, AND you can snitch his horse, near the carriage, wich is a black arabian, for free. You don't even have to tame it, buy it, or break it! (also; you can loot it's saddle bag for extra trinkets) It is important in RDR 2 to get your dream horse early, imo, soo... yeah. I loved this little thing, it felt like a side mission, just like getting the white arabian from "them mountains".
I've spent just about 3 hours circling the damn lake and haven't spotted the white horse even once. Found a few packs of wolves, tons of rabbits, and larger game animals, but the only thing even vaguely resembling a horse had goddamn antlers... tough luck. I mean, looking for a white horse on a sea of snow, duh. Even deadeye doesn't help much. I really have no idea. Maybe I need to go to the lake on foot to make less noise than galloping around it on a warhorse using deadeye every 3 seconds to look around
@@josephmccann4518 think I did... afterwards. It's my first playthrough so I'm just learning things. I mean, even if I got the horse somehow I wouldn't be able to "get" it, as I didn't have access to stable yet by then. And when I got stable, I got the horse from ultimate edition that's nearly as good, so I'm not even in the mood to go horse hunting in the snow(storm often) for hours..
The horse you get in the ultimate edition is honestly fine for almost the entire game. Sometimes it gets spooked when predators are near but it has good speed and stamina especially once you bond to level 4 with it
I've not played this game in three years bc I couldn't touch it anymore after the ending (still haven't played through the epilogue)... but now, I feel ready again and wanted to freshen up on all the things I previously knew by heart. THANK YOU for this amazing guide! Edit: I did NOT know about the app!!! AAAAAAH this is so cool!!!
I just started playing this masterpiece lately & damn I wish I had got in sooner. What a game. It went from me not interested to being one of my favorite games ever.
same here bro I played part way through and put it away. After a while I came back to it and really got into it. I really think raising the volume on the headphones helped me get immersed. great music
Fantastic guide mate (and coming from a fellow Brit)! I bought a PS4 specifically for this game and I am loving it, though I have only just started and just got out of the mountains. There is so much to learn and I’ll probably be on it for the next year. Thanks for the awesome tips!
I've started playing it 1month ago, and it's amazing the details and randomness of it, that's said if you hold down the thumb stick to calm down your horse will regenerate your horses stamina a little every 30/40 seconds
First time player, saw it was free on PS5 with the subscription and figured I'd see how it is and I'm obsessed now, it's easy to get sucked into this world for HOURS
Tip 58. NPCs remember when you use customized weapons during things such as train heists or any other game robberies and this will identify Arthur even when he's wearing a mask.
Thanks very much for this... Have had this game a long time on PS4 but, owing to prolonged ill health, I never got around to playing it. ☹️ Recently bought an Xbox Series X during the Black Friday sales & just bought RDR2 Ultimate Edition for the Xbox at a bargain sale price & intend to start playing it very soon, now that my health is improving sufficiently, so spotting this handy guide on RU-vid couldn’t have been better timed. THANKS AGAIN. 😊👍
I picked up this game while I was on vacation in Puerto Rico last year, for $5. Just popped it into my console, put like 20 hours into it already and barely just got to Valentine.
I never played any of the RDR games but have been contemplating on getting the RDR2 in recent days but I am on PC so not sure how some of the instructions would translate. Thanks for the tips! Happy New Year everyone!
For years, I've felt very intimidated by this game due to its large scale.. But i've finally decided to give it a try now.. watching this video while its downloading 😊
I gave up on this when I first played it 5 years ago as I just couldn't get on with the wheel controls. Picked it up again a few days ago and something just clicked. Really enjoying it now and I wish I had persevered to begin with. Thanks for the tips, really helpful.
