I spent one full day in Death Valley National Park on my way back from Arizona. This was half of a weekend trip I took from my temporary home base in Santa Barbara along my drive up to Seattle. Stay tuned to see the second half where I explored the Mojave Desert!

Death Valley is a unique park with stunning landscapes -- truly one for the geology nerds out there. This is a very accessible national park; many sights are drive-ups and just off the road. You can do as much or as little hiking as you'd like, which makes it easy to hit the highlights in just one day.
I went without any camping reservations and found a couple spots off the main roads to set up for the nights I was in the park. If you do this, just be sure to stick to designated areas that have already been cleared out. I made sure the spots I chose had fire circles, so I knew they were meant to be used as campgrounds.
Lastly, if you're going in a car with low clearance you will be able to visit all the spots mentioned in this video! I easily made it in my Prius. There are a few other areas (Devil's Golf Course and Natural Bridge, for example) that require high clearance vehicles to access.
