In regards to lenses I still shoot on my 18-55 kit lens a lot, in fact most shots on my channel as well as Instagram are shot on the kit lens. My best advise would be to not buy anything else and REALLY focus on shooting more, your own experience will guide you to the right lens ^^

@@ClassicPolly great advise! I’m new to photography as well, but had to pick up a 35 prime just for compactness. Then I had an old Sony 18-105 I basically traded for a Fuji 55-200. I also say shoot with the kit lens for a year and at the end look through all your photos and see what focal length you used the most or see if you need a longer focal length

As others have said, find your way around the 18-55 first - it's a very versatile lens. Its performance is really way above other "kit lenses" with other brands. There are several pro photogs - check out Mike Browne (who does very good training courses for beginners too) - who uses very little other than the 18-55. I do a fair wedge of architectural stuff, church interiors etc and I have the 14mm 2.8. It's an "old" lens in Fuji terms, and the autofocus sounds a bit like a dog with a bad cough on occasions, and it's far from cheap, (I got mine used) but it's optically lovely, and paired with the XT3 - a heap of the wide-angle bendy upright distortions gets corrected in camera.

It was my first time shooting Paris with literally only locals in the city, very little tourists, and I enjoyed it so much!

@@ClassicPolly I'm close to Paris 👍 I've XT30II with XF1855 and XF35mmF2 for a few months and i'm learning Fuji gear that I really love. Happy to see what we can get with that gear 👍 (looking for 55-200 too)

I really appreciate your kind words! Thank you! Re fuji xt200, unfortunately I don’t have any experience with this camera. I’ve skimmed over a couple of reviews, looks good. Since cameras sensor isn’t stabilised, I would advise to invest into fuji lenses with OIS :)

@@ClassicPolly You’re going to be sorry you asked Polly, it’s going to be a long answer (Hahaha). The issue I’m having with the XF 55-200 is that when turning the aperture ring it doesn't stop at the f/ number that I try to set, for instance, I want to set f/8 and when I do see the f/ number in the EVF or the LCD and I let go the ring, it jumps to one below or one above (f/7.1 or f/9), I have to kind of hold it in place with my hand because the f/8 (or other full stops) is in between clicks. It’s still under warranty (I got it in August), I called Fujifilm customer service and I was told to send it to them, they claim that they have had this problem before and they asked me to send it to the service department and that they’ll probably just replace it. I’m also making this comment just in case someone else has a similar problem, I hope you don’t mind.

oh gosh that sounds aweful, so far my 55-200 seems to be working fine but I will take extra care of the aperture ring. Hope you get your back soon ^^

@@ClassicPolly It worked fine for the first 4 or 5 weeks and then it happened, but as I mentioned in my previous comment, Fuji service department told me that they were not surprised, others have had that issue with the 55-200, it takes about ten days for me to get the new lens.

We were very lucky to be in Paris during September when everything was going for the better and there was no lockdown in sight. Hope Paris is doing okay now.

The intro and me talking is shot on Sony a7iii, but the POV part is shot on Eterna simulation on Fuji. I'm honestly forever impressed by Fuji colours straight from the camera, they are some of the best I've worked with ;)

Thank you! I used both 18-55 and 55-200mm lenses here. Bought the 55-200mm mainly to do photos in Paris, it makes the city looks absolutely epic ^^

Most used is probably the 18-55 lens purely for the versatility, most shots on my Instagram are from that lens :)

It was a bit eerie to see it so empty, especially the Louvre area! I’m glad we managed to experience Paris less crowded though 🙃

I made a whole video going through my settings for street photography. I am quite used to doing everything manually, helps me be in the zone and not think about anything but the photos I am taking :)

My twin me lol....It's my partner who is filming me. He is using sony a7iii + 24-70mm f/4 lens (mostly).

@@ClassicPolly Oh wow, the video work was so beautifully done that It inspired me into the Fuji system. Maybe mention it was filmed on a Sony, at least in the description?

I’m sorry that my pictures didn’t impress. At the time of that video it’s the best I could do with the skills that I had. I don’t know how to comment in regards to the definition of the street photography. It seems like your comment meant to be more hurtful instead of constructive.

@@ClassicPolly you're lucky to have had the chance to be in such an iconic city like Paris that was home to very famous photographers like Cartier Bresson, Brassai, Lartigue, Kertesz, Doisneu. If I were you, I would have done my research and tried to do some justice to what is truly street photography, which is really a very difficult art to master. Take criticism constructively...but posting a POV video and calling is "Street Photography" is really not helping anyone especially when you seem to be more interested in posting a video rather than showcasing your photographs
