Singapore Sling at Raffles, now that is classy and a bucket list for sure! If you read older books or watch old films this drink is frequently mentioned as the fancy exotic drink the swanky character enjoys. Also, the peanut/snacks bowl is only a germ fiesta if they are already peeled, the shells on the nuts obviously keep them 'clean'. :)

It’s true about being allergic to topical climates, I have been on several trips in SA Asia and 3 separate girls in the groups had their faces fully swell up.
The warehouse (which the British used to refer to them as Godowns) used to store peppercorns down by the river where goods are loaded directly from large wooden barges known as 'tongkangs'. The hygienic problems are only with already peeled Peanuts on the Bar counter, where everybody grabs some nuts from the same bowl and puts them directly in the mouth. When you have a Bag unpeeled Peanuts on your own table you won't have any problems. Have a great Trip!
