During my 24-hour stay in Silom, Bangkok, I immersed myself in the vibrant heart of the city while enjoying the luxurious comfort of The Standard Hotel. Located at the iconic Mahanakhon Tower, the hotel offered stunning panoramic views of the Bangkok skyline, setting the tone for an unforgettable day. My morning started with a visit to Arabacia Coffee, a cozy café known for its exceptional brews and chic ambiance.
Next on my itinerary was a leisurely stroll through Lumphini Park, a verdant oasis in the midst of the bustling city. The park's tranquil lakes, lush lawns, and winding paths offered a refreshing contrast to the urban landscape.
As the sun began to set, I headed back to Silom's streets, ready to experience the area's renowned nightlife. From lively bars to vibrant street food markets, Silom's nightlife is an eclectic mix of the traditional and the contemporary.
As night fell, I ventured into Silom's famous entertainment spots, including the energetic Patpong Night Market and the trendy bars along Soi 4.

Can you do Koh Samet or Samed as the locals call it i believe. I went in 2012 loved it but didn't explore far past our hotel right on the rocks 5 steps from the ocean and to the main beach. I did find an amazing pristine beach in a national park just south of the main jetty, with a jetty in the center of the beach that is epic for taking photos. And a hidden 30 or 40 foot high white and gold budda on a hill east of the main road of shops. Was really chill being so unknown back then and a hot spot for Thai people to holiday. Wasn't many Ferang's back then would love to see how it has evolved. Cheers Paddy, Joel.

@@rickmuc089 Have you ever been in both cities? Maybe Singapore is more developed and clean. But Bangkok has so much more to offer in terms of culture, food and nightlife. After spending 1-2 weeks in Singapore you can explore everything. In Bangkok you can live for years and explore everyday something new. This city is one of the most visited in the world for a good reason.

I stayed at the Ascot next to Saint Louis BTS for a week. It's also a few stops near the river with that big fancy Icon Siam mall. It was also nice to get a banana roti from the famous Roti Lady near the Silom BTS. When I arrived back home I found out that the famous Robot building was just next door,....

24 hours near the airport.. for people that are stuck on layovers or flights get cancelled.. what are the best bars, views, temples and foods just outside of the airport accessible quickly... Practical solution, sometimes people even have 6-`10 hours in morning or night etc

On my next trip to Bangkok I want to explore the neighborhoods I haven't been to. I'm fine with the water monitor lizards. It's the pythons and vipers that scare me to death. I was in Bangkok during the first rain of this year. There was a light drizzle continuing at lunch time. Humid, but the temperature was very pleasant. The rain will pass, except for my last night in Singapore when it rained for 3 hours.

We stayed in "I-Residence Hotel Silom" & from our room's big glass window, we saw the Mahanakhon Tower and the room was bigger than this (enough for a couple) & was affordable with included breakfast & the hotel had rooftop swimming pool as well & a 7/11 at the basement. Thanks!

I am definitely loving this series Patty. I have visited this area often as my son used to work there but it was so fun to see it again but thru your eyes. ..and a big treat to go places way beyond my budget ( the standard etc.) and others I have been to often (shenanigans etc.). Nah, thong lor is way more expensive that silom/sathorn. I've lived in sathorn for 12 years and it's not expensive. It can be, in parts, but it's mostly reasonable. This title is completely misleading, as is your presentation of the Arabica. It's like 160 baht or so for a latte up there, which is the same price that Starbucks, in a mall, would charge. Yes, this area has high end stuff, but more so it's just normal people with great value for money spots. It's also way different to Sukhumvit, in the type of people, both foreign and local, who live here. Good on you for getting to the House on Sathorn, which used to be the old Russian Embassy. It's great for aft tea and cocktails. The toilet is made completely of marble and is the best toilet (cause of the temperature) that I've been in in all my time in Thailand. Anyway, loads more spots in Sathorn to explore (Justmag, a hidden gem), but yeah, you can't make a vid on all of it. Good job giving a pretty good overview of the area. Do a few more and get stuck in to the fun value for money spots, like the restaurant called Larb Ubon, and then all the things down Sathorn soi 1. Silom and Sathorn area needs a full-on series. Cheers.

Well, that is the type of noise I love: trains passing by. I need to go to that rooftop bar or any similar places in Bangkok. I don't know how in Bangkok, but here in the island of Java, Indonesia, it can be raining all night long. It can be cloudy the whole day, for a few days, or a week, with only a very limited sun rays. Yes, Paddy. We love this 24-hours series.

There are plenty of nice hotels in Silom area that run around 1500-2300 baht. Not 5 star but one can spend their money on nice restaurants in Silom and the nightlife. Easy to hop on the Skytrain and get to Thaksin pier or go to Siam for shopping.

Hi Paddy I love this video. Just a note if you go to Lumphini Park early in the morning you can see lots of Thai Chinese doing Tai Chi (I have done this with my Children a few times and they liked it). Also Lumphini Park Stadium has amazing Thai Boxing (I did this over 20 years ago before Children). Really love this video's approach). Best Regards Ivan

Love the W. They had my scotch! You were much more relaxed on the skywalk compared to your reaction when you went there with Gary. All that travel and adventure has taken the edge off that fear of heights eh? Beautiful place Paddy. I think the nicest place I have stayed in BK is the Erawan Grand Hyatt. Epic hotel, that room looks like it could be a lot of fun. My dog was eaten by a monitor lizard. Not really. hahaha I go to Lumphini Park often. I suggest you check out Iron Balls Distillery and bar not far from there. Speaking of french vibes, did you see Tom Cruise repeal in the stadium on Closing ceremonies for the Olympics. Just Epic!

Great VDO Paddy! I live in Bangkok and away for work currently but back soon. Enjoying seeing other parts of the city where like yourself travel through many times but never ventured! Will be definitely take my wife to this hotel and the W and the roof! You mentioned that temples in Thailand are magical and yes they are, so enjoy visiting them. OMG!! When we lived in Bangkok, We lived at Sala Daeng station on Convent Rd. Ran in Lumphini each morning. The food stalls on Convent road should not be missed!! And the river monitors!!

It seems Bangkok is full of hugely luxurious places...coffee shops, restaurants, bars, hotels.... it's baffling who has the money for all this but I assume it's passing traffic rather than regulars. Places open, become popular for a few months until somewhere newer opens up. Not to be too fussy but I believe it's Seelom, not si..lom

4:51 The "gorgeous old building" is The House on Sathorn. 135 years old in 2024 it has had many owners and purposes in that time including serving as the Russian Embassy from 1948-1999. It is now part of the W Bangkok Hotel that towers above it next door. In 2001 The Department of Fine Arts issued an official statement announcing the mansion as a registered national archeological site. It has a preservation order placed on it and cannot be demolished.

that is what they said about Hemingway's Building and the Singha Building in Soi 21. Both of the beautiful 130 year old buildings were torn down for a) a hotel b). the tallest residential building in. BKK.

Fab video 👌. We loved this area Paddy. So much to see and do. Please keep up the 24 hour series 🙏. Would love to see you do one in Old Town to show that the misconception that it's all about Khaosan is so wrong. It is also a place to hit on ground level and walk the arse off it ❤
