You’re right. 6 ton dropped from 7 meters is one hell of an impact - lucky it didn’t collapse. In fact it did break partially which is just as well as it would have absorbed a lot of the force of impact and reduced the damage to the hull.

I’m a Brit and an Ineos fan, but ultimately I’m a fan of the sportsmanship. Like in 36 when American Magic were holed on the water. I was just so impressed at the way the offers of help came in. I would hope the other teams have been offering assistance where they can this time. I’ve got huge respect for what you all do, this is the F1 of sailing and the sport will be better when you’re back on the water.

@@qksmith Not true at all, the cars are 90% composites, there is not always time to swap over large parts so time critical local repairs are needed on a daily basis, especially on the floor of the car. I speak from experience as I used to work at GP’s for one of said teams, it’s a relentless job once the cars start running, amazing how much breaks on the car that you’d never notice on TV but the car is slowly losing performance.

wet reparation, i supposed pre-preg
@AntiVaganza
@AntiVaganza Месяц назад
Yeah, nice and "old school". I think he did talk about a post cure though but not sure I heard correctly. But a good controlled wet layup is possibly faster (they are using their fastest hardeners), easier and safer than trying to heat an uneven area with matts for the prepreg to set. Either way, impressive. I think they built thei land speed vessel with wet layups, too but not sure.
@jameslittle8891
@jameslittle8891 Месяц назад
Most pre pregs require a higher cure temperature (65+deg C) which is harder to achieve evenly over such a surface. That heat would also sink into the interior of the boat which some electrical/hydraulic systems may not tolerate. An ambient cure under a vacuum bag followed by a low-ish temp posture is fine for such a repair. I work for an F1 team and our trackside repairs are all wet lam with local heat to hurry things along! Whatever gets you back out racing quickest….

@bwatson. .... I assume that's a question.
@Gottenhimfella
@Gottenhimfella 24 дня назад
@@GaryPeters-nv8pj if it is a question it's a stupid one, and doubly so if it's a statement. I would however make an exception if the definition of sabotage was broadened to include hacking/spoofing of the wireless control signal, which seems to me (albeit faintly) plausible both culturally and technologically...
@AntiVaganza
@AntiVaganza Месяц назад
Man, that's amazing. Huge congrats on a job well done. Now, what would be great would be a video about why it actually happened so you can put the tin hats in your fan base to sleep. They are out in big numbers now and it's not pretty. Not your fault, not blaming you, of course but consider shutting it down if you fee like it:)
@GaryPeters-nv8pj
@GaryPeters-nv8pj Месяц назад
Why? Us Kiwis just want to know the TRUTH of what happened. I certainly do. Don't you?
@AntiVaganza
@AntiVaganza Месяц назад
@@GaryPeters-nv8pj I certainly do want to know the truth, but I don't resort to conspiracy theories with zero proof within minutes of an event. Hence why I said it would be nice to put out a video explaining why it actually happened. Truth (all caps or not) needs facts but sometimes it takes a little time to gather them, though. Maybe there are insurance claims in the way so maybe they can't say much, but if they don't suspect foul play, it would be nice to come out and say it. We sadly live in a world where you have to these days. This is not much to judge anything on but the tone and faces of everyone on camera didn't give me any vibes of anger towards anyone. If Kiwis don't know how much goodwill they have, then the underdog feeling is too strong in you guys. Maybe it's human nature to think everyone is out to get you, but most often they are not. You are widely liked and respected. I mean, it would be nice not to see a clean sweep, but in general the world likes you as a people. Also, while ACC has a rich history of secrecy, espionage and exploring loopholes, sabotage is next level accusations. I personally believe no one in any camp would ever organize such a thing. Even if someone somehow tinkered with the idea, it's not something you can keep quiet forever and the backlash would be immense. It just makes zero sense. Gear failure or human error simply makes the most sense.
