For me, that’s too low for a 24” drum. All slap, no body. You need to have some tension on the batter head to get the shell engaged. Mic’ed up it’s ok, acoustically, it’ll sound like all attack out front. It sounds great mic’ed though.
@@janispuce5133 I would recommend similar frequencies, the 16” depth is just gonna add some perceived low end compared to a 14”depth, but not really change the pitch of the kick. I’m not sure I know what you mean about a 50 hz jump from the middle?
@@ccdrums1290 I was referring to the video. With the fundamental freq. being 50 Hz on the batter head. So what would be the best fundamental freq., in your opinion, for 24''x16''? But thanks! I am very much new to tuning drums. :D
@@janispuce5133 59 hz on the batter is kinda low. Maybe too low, it’ll be all slap and won’t get the shell resonating. I recommend tuning it up just a little, to about 75 or 80 hz. Reso head about a step ( 2 notes ) higher to 92hz. Try that and see if the drum doesn’t sound bigger and fuller.
