I’m surprised at how vocally tricky is the role of Mr. Toad. Aside from the childish brattiness and energy, you’ve also got some of his songs where Rufus Hound (Toad) manages to hit the A4’s and Bb4’s perfectly.
Ok so I can think of the last note from "The Amazing Mr. Toad" as an example of an a4, but I've not found a Bb4 anywhere, could you elaborate on where you heard it?
@thijmendol8248 Listen to the end of "Speed is of the Essence (Reprise)" and listen again to this proshot's iteration of "The Amazing Mr Toad". The Bb4 is both at the very end of the song. The A4 at "Mr Toad" must've been from the cast album, not from this proshot.
Ok so I checked, at least the ending of "The Amazing Mr Toad" is a semitone lower in the cast album, so that mist be where my confusion came from. (I've not checked the whole song, but it doesn't really matter that much I suppose. "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" has had only the first part moved a semitone up over the years, so it's theoretically possible that they only changed the key at the end)
Omg the guy who plays the chief weasel is AMAZING...he really made it his own and put his own spin on the character and those damce moves are brill hehe x
23:06 Don’t be catty, Ratty 😂😂 57:56 😅😅 1:36:00😅😅 1:38:46 Reminds me of Chris Farley’s reaction when hearing the eagle coming in for the kill from Almost Heroes 😂😂 1:39:12 Toad went “my leg” 😂😂😂
Minor spoilers, read this after you watch the show: Note that the Christmassy figures that are hung up at 1:30:20 are the same that are used to fool the weasels at 1:54:47!
Yes, friends who immediately start living together, sleeping in the same bed (in the book) holding hands while they sleep, caring for one another's safety...just friends 😏 😂
I was going to watch this during lockdown and it got taken down, been looking for it for months! Edit: Coming back to say that I'm a little bit in love with the head Weasel
I’m trying to note the songs for the Young at part version. Don’t mind me 1:00 “Spring” but mole starts the song as the soloist 6:40 “messing about in a boat” “Typical of toad” 24:10 “the open road” “Typical of toad reprise” 31:10 “the hedgehogs nightmare” 33:25 “the amazing mr toad” 40:28 “we’re the wild wooders” 49:28 “wild wooders reprise” 52:10 “A friend is still a friend” 1:02:47 dialogue and “as if in a dream” 1:07:17 “the hedgehog’s verdict” 1:10:08 “We’re taking over the hall” 1:14:52 dialogue and “to be a woman “ 1:28:47 “wassailing mice” 1:53:33 “as if in a dream reprise” 1:58:45 “finale part 1” 2:02:22 just before Chief Weasel's solo 2:04:09 bows - such lovely costuming
Is Wild Wooders/Reprise in the Young@Part version? Its not listed on TRW playlist but it's a top favourite song for casts and audiences, so I was surprised not to see it. If it's not in it, thats a major put-off for the Y@P version.
@sw1679 That's very helpful to know, thank you for replying. Glad they didn't omit it! From your timestamps, it looks like the set is simplified, no canal boat, train, etc? I saw the full show at Palladium and loved it but might be too much for our space.
@@MangoAndMolly there's a boat scene after spring. I had never heard of the play before we did it, and I couldn't find the y@p version anywhere. These notes are not comprehensive at all. I just wanted to hear how the songs went. But there's an additional song that's not on here, and it's kind of dumb but there you go: typical of toad. Get a script or something, this is just a few general notes
Just wanna note that Badger’s coat is similar to ones included in a military uniforms that could imply that this Badger either has a military record or to show his seniority and wisdom
ref for what Chief Weasel, Cheryl Stoat and Lesser Weasel are saying after We're taking over the hall at 1:14:34 !! (LW and CS are fighting with cutlery) LW (or it's a background weasel. Not sure.) :We’re takin’ over!! CW: (mocking noises) Agh! Cheryl! CS:Oh! (Sqeal??) CW: Come on/Come Along! (CS and CW walk off together, LW jumps off stage, blackout.) Not sure anyone cared about this but these three are my favourite trio in the show
1:53:53 HA! Check out the lady weasel next to the Chief Weasel - she's really interested, and then gets pushed aside by the stoat and is furious about it. XD
