After all the rain over the last week or so one runway had dried out enough to allow us to fly today. I felt the plane drag in the soft ground as I started my take off roll, but I was soon airborne. I climbed above the clouds where the air was silky smooth then winged in happy solitude around billowing towers and chased broken specters. Through a gap I saw the flooded River Severn, so I dived down and raced along scattering flocks of geese into the turbulent air. It was rough at this level. I knew it would make my landing more challenging. I also had a cross wind to contend with. It wasn’t one of my better approaches and must have looked rather spectacular from the ground, judging by the comments I got when I walked into the cafe for breakfast. They say any landing you can walk away from is a good one. Well I walked away and VXXY is still serviceable, so I’m calling it a good one.
