It is temporary, but hopefully he has the weather to allow for winterization. :) Otherwise it's a nightmare to take down now with the deck. I have a round one I am considering building something similar around and the only thing holding me back is the reassembly after the deck is built...as you need to arrange the feet to land perfectly on the pavers beneath them.

Looking good JD! We put in an 18Kw Generac this spring as well since we average about 3 blackouts a year. It can run on propane as well as Natural gas.

Pool and deck looking good. Thanks for info on the generator, good info on it. Projects all look good. Y'all should be proud of what your doing. If you think it'll be nice to get all the work / projects done so all you have to do is kick back and enjoy -- don't work that way. Everybody else will enjoy the leisurely life style, you'll get all the work to make sure everyone else enjoys. But still worth it !!!

JD you probably have already looked into this but just as a FYI as far as HVAC. The most manufacturers supply a 10 year parts only when the system is registered. Aka just tell them where it’s installed. Unless is a high efficiency system manufacturers rarely cover labor over 90 days, and if it wasn’t t registered they go by manufacturer date. I imagine if you got 10 year labor from your contractor the only way you’ll get that warranty labor is with that contractor.

Guys, all these run @3600 RPM why?have not flung out why,,but at a home show in NJ, PRE COVID, I have a BENT CON ROD from a 6month old GENERAC, I will chrome plate it, as I use it for a paper weight. Surely a DIESEL @1800RPM costs much more than this , but will outlive these! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

can you add a link for the shade material that you used. Also on the generator if you swap it to LP gas it will be more efficient too.

The standby generator is a good idea I use a Onan 20kw powered by a kabota motor 28yrs not 1 problem and we get our share of hurricanes in Florida so she has a lot of hours on her just keep the oil changed and filter replaced keep the fuel water separator drained and the fuel filter changed, I'm a Cummins man but I wish kabota would make a pickup motor

We have a 14kW Generac. We would have gone bigger but we were limited by the gas supply to the house since we already had a gas furnace, gas hot water, gas FP, gas cooktop and gas BBQ on the same service. Still, best thing we ever got for our house.

I install these generators as well as Cummins every day. $14,000 is a pretty good price for having it away from the house and both utilities trenched to it. I’ve bid against lowes and HD and I’m typically under them, but only by a few hundred bucks. Never bid against one of the big online retailers though. As far as having to carry the whole load connected to the generator, that is a National electric code requirement not just a lowes/HD thing, so I would have quoted a 22KW as well. You can put load sheds in to drop the required KW though. Pricing on those units has really gone up lately, now I think the 24KW with a 200A switch is right at $6000.

I am building a new construction house and was quoted $10,600 for a 22KW model which seemed like a lot to me at first, but now it seems like that is a pretty good price.

@@Alex.AL_26 10,600 is about the lowest I’ll go. If the gas is less than 10ft from the generator and the switch can go about 5ft, with no load controls that’s the price I’d give

i heard that when there is a power outage the gas companies are now considering stopping the flow of gas to customers in case of accidents that cause fires. I think it happened in California when they cut power to stop fires the gas was shut off also.

Absolutely. We have a camera system that alerts us to any movement of people or animals headed towards the pool or away from it or at the pool

@@BigTruckBigRV I looked up pool alarms on RU-vid there’s some cool devices out there. You just throw them in the pool and they alarm if anyone / anything goes into the water.
