Love my 2020 Ford Ranger XLT Super Cab 4wd! Yes over certain road surfaces at certain times the ride on the factory OEM suspension can be a bit disconcerting, but like you said easy enough to remedy with already alot of premium aftermarket suspension products out there already! Surprisingly a good amount of power even in stock form from the smallish 2.3 liter EcoBoost + great MPG with the 10 speed 10R-80 automatic transmission. I do like the quiet interior & room inside the cab.
Thanks for 25K review, I'm new to the Ford Ranger and we had ours 6months ago, XLT with FX4 package, I had change the front shock to Fox 2.0 to level the Ranger, I'm still running stock tires but so far its been good. Thanks again for your videos.
I got a superlift 3.5 inch lift with a Fox coilover come of weeks ago and I can feel the difference between leveling kit and lift kit, it rides a bit rough like a real truck now and the stance is much better, but hopefully when weather gets a bit cooler I can take it up the mountain and some trails.
I’m so glad you talked about the break pressure. I own a 01 f150 and one thing I love about my truck other than any vehicle I’ve driven is you have to press the brake a little more then other cars. I personally hate when newer vehicles have touchy breaks. I’ve been looking at purchasing a ranger but I haven’t test driven one. This makes me want one even more now. Lol
@@NemesisDigitalMedia We live in SE Virginia and there isn't much local without just jumping in the truck and driving four to five hours away. We do get out on the beach in the Outer Banks every few weeks, though. Hoping to spend a few long weekends exploring some fire roads or similar along the VA/WV border.
With the shifting issue, the 10r80 transmission uses an adaptive learning procedure. It shifts how you drive on a day to day. If you drive differently than usual it will shift harder due to it being of habit. Just an fyi
@cleanwhipzautodetailing just bought the 2021 fx4 looked into it a decent bit and I really love it but have started seeing videos about the concern of their longevity, could you possibly give me an update after 6 months of ownership
Just hit 15,000 with mine and I’ve loved it so far. I’ve got the the FX4 package with a leveling kit, so going to upgrade the upper control arms with a Fox 2.0 kit soon to improve my ride quality. Great video!
do yourself a favor man and hit up @apgoffroad and see what deals they have to offer on their control arms and suspension kits. Mention you watch my videos. Theyll be pretty competitive on pricing and their control arms are bad ass.
Awesome review I have 25,000 miles on my 2019 Ranger lariat I’m truly happy with how it preform for me👍🏾it’s my money it’s my payments “NO BUYER REMORSE” ready for my next 25,000 miles 💪🏾
2021 FX4 Ranger owner here, and love it. I would admit the suspension is a bit bouncy. 9 months and 1st oil change in I hadn't had any issues. There are certain times i felt the transmission has a hard time finding the right gear, namely going up an incline at lower speeds. Breaking & acceleration are no issues. looking forward to years of ownership of my Ranger.
Hi. I just bought a used 2020 Ranger Sport XLT. Loving it! Just getting used to the sound of the engine/turbos coming from a 99 Tacoma. Thanks for the brake info. I do have a question about the brakes. Sometimes, it feels like a thump at my foot when releasing the brake pedal. Doesn’t happen all the time, even the rear passengers can feel the thump when releasing the brake pedal. Is this normal? Brake pedal to can feel like it’s loose/noisy when tapping on it.
Ford knows trucks! This truck was designed to be class leading. Love my '19 Ranger XLT FX4...18mos/16k mis an it looks & drives like brand new! Highly recommend this excellent midsize truck. My MPGs even went up which means this is a tight engine..requires careful break in...an designed to last a long time!
Rangers are extremely popular over here in the UK. Our biggest issue is the chassis rusting way to quickly. Even from factory they're already showing surface rust. To make it worse Ford UK's customer support sucks hard. It's a shame because other than that they're great.
22k on my xlt love it . had a 17 Tacoma before it .and i find the ford seating position more to my liking .and the turbo mated to the 10 speed is cold blooded on start up but once warmed a awesome combo!!
@@lo-rn1et up to 23500 nope on the oil problem .(i did check to often when new as the rg5 forum guys )but not now oil changers between 4500 5 k miles. best driving truck i have owned (came from a sonoma then a tacoma) truck is a runner so far and compy.
Good thing you mentioned the injectors at 6:10... When I got my Ford Ranger, I thought it had an issue with the turbo, like miss alignment or something like that, then I thought I might have a problem with my valve train. When I took it to the dealership so they could check it out, they told me "those are the injectors" and I was like "great, are you going to replace them or what?"... needless to say the guys at the shop stared at each other in visible confusion, until one of them showed me how all the Rangers sounded, and just then I realized it was a "normal" sound.
I just sold my 97 Ranger XLT. I had just gotten everything fixed at a high cost, and it was running great. But I was nervous something else was going to fail, so I sold it while I could still get top dollar for it. I miss it so much. Maybe I can get a new one next year if I get my credit cards paid off. Anyway, I miss my Ranger....
Great Vid! I have a 2020 2WDwith just over 12K and love it. After the leveling spacers, wish I had gone with a 4x4. I noticed the ambient lighting on the floor board, did you install them? Curious to know how you powered them.
We get the same thing in the Jeep community. People that expect a Cadillac snooth ride will complain about absolute nonsense. All my Jeeps have been durable & same with our Ford F-150.
What's your average mpg? Also why no mention of the direct injection? That kinda system is very common at getting build up on the exhaust valves. I could be wrong but I bet your review will be a lot different at or around the 100000 mile mark. Just not convinced this motor is going to be all that good long term.
I work at a ford dealer. And we see 2.3s with over 160k miles quite often. Mostly in the explorers, and edges though. Haven't seen a ranger over 100k yet. But I'm in Jacksonville fl, and most people use it for around town travel. Vs the explorer being better for road trips. The 2.3 is a fantastic motor
My 2003 Ranger 4 liter is quieter than your truck , I haven't bothered changing the factory exhaust because 18 years and 170,000 km later it's still in perfect condition . And it's more fun to beat people in a quiet truck than a loud truck , and the Cops leave me alone as well .
Hey Nemesis5Zero! What is the brand of the dual ball extension bar that you are using and the brand and model of the clip that you are using to hold up your Baofeng radio plz??? I know the BuiltRight Industries dashboard plate is in-use but what's being used to hold your Baofeng radio for the arm and clip holder???
@@NemesisDigitalMedia Youre the man!!!! Thank you so much! Me and my Ranger buddies found your videos today and we were like "we need this Baofeng setup!" Haha. Good looks bro. If we ever see you on the trails we'll hook you up with some good beer and snacks!
@@survivalcombatprepping9379 no problem! glad I could help! I actually run a magnetic mount and an external hookup to it , makes it easier to use on trail and the speaker is much louder. Shoot me a message on my IG and I can show you what it looks like same as my channel name.
Ford really needs a V6 option in these. I had a Focus ST and that colors my view of their Ecoboost line of engines and saw the problems with both the 2.0 and 2.3 Ecoboosts. So I'm not sure I trust the engine in it for one. Two, I live in a high heat enviornment and the temps will absolutely suck the power out of the Ecoboost engine. Especially with the intercoolers they put in them. At least in the Focus it was extremely small. When I got it upgraded to a bigger intercooler I looked at the stock one and laughed and asked the mechanic just what in the world did they expect to cool with that thing it was so small. Maybe the intercooler in the Ranger is bigger. At least I hope it is. But we'll see how long these ecoboost engines in them last in the long term. 25K miles isn't all that long. And you don't want to be stuck out in the middle of nowhere with a bad engine.
mated with the 10 speed the 4 is awesome. 6 not needed!! cruising at 75mph just under 2k rpm.and will for sure out pace the Toyota 6 cylinder off the line
Is tbe direct injection sound that "type writer" tick noise? Because my 2018 mustang 5.0 has that. Its had it since day one and it has 21k miles on it now and runs fine
Love my 2019 XLT FX4 all black! However, the paint on mine chips very easily! With every wash I find more and more nicks in the paint down to the primer. Anyone else have this issue or have gotten the warranty to fix it ?
My 2019 Ranger is going in for a RF door speaker problem. But, yes, my paint chips very easily and scratches go right to the primer with zero effort. I'm going to tell them about it just to see what they say. I have the red pepper metallic paint. Also my wife has a 2015 Escape and that paint job is way tougher.
@@NemesisDigitalMedia I know about the BuiltRight Industries piece, but Im curious what brand extension arm and clamp that you are specifically using to mount your Baofeng or HAM radio, please? Thanks in advance brother.
@@NemesisDigitalMedia how come ? I’m contemplating going kings but I heard it’s a ruff ride on normal roads, fox seems to have got it right with best of both worlds...fox 2.5 remote reservoir adjustable
@@NemesisDigitalMedia Does the Ranger really wobble back-n-forth that much? Or is it your POV head camera? I had to stop the video because I was getting dizzy.
I test drove all the midsize trucks except the gladiator, and with an open mind I really wanted to like the ranger but walked away with the 2021 Tacoma 4x4 TRD OR DC in a automatic trans with tech & premium pkg , and I absolutely love it just turned 9,000 miles after doing a cross country road trip with the family, I will say this much this Tacoma is the last truck I ever purchase can’t wait to hit 300,000 miles . Good review by the way cheers 🍻
Congrats on the 25K point. We just hit 3K and in two weeks it will be one year. Curious on your mount system on the center dash. Is that custom? Don't recall any review? Stay Safe and Happy Trails.
Thank you! The mount is from Biltright Industries. The arms are from Amazon, Bulletproof is the company. The mounting plate is specifically designed for the Rangers.
@@NemesisDigitalMedia Thanks. Will check them out. Appreciated. We were supposed to go on expedition all through Western Canada and Alaska, but the beer cough cancelled everything. We hope we can do that overland expedition in 2021 and put on the miles, time will tell.
Can you get all the aftermarket parts installed with warranty intact? I can see the practicality of aftermarket mods, but keeping that coverage is important
I sold my 2WD 3rd gen SR5 Tacoma and am going to rock my 98 Jeep ZJ for a bit, save some cash. In the meantime I am thinking about an eventual replacement for the Tacoma. Curious to hear your thoughts about the Ranger Tremor given your great summary in this vid. Thanks for the vid.
The 2019/2020 F-150 with a 2.7 litre engine has better gas mileage than a 2019/2020 Ford Ranger 2.3 litre engine. I have the 2019 Ranger FX4 with almost 29000 kilometers.
@ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΣ ΦΛΩΡΟΣ iam happy with it, just get bf good rich ko2 all terrain tires , that will make the truck Handel better than stock . The only complaint is that it has soft brakes if your foot is medium on the peddle it will roll , that happened to me at a intersection I didn’t realise I was rolling and I had my foot on brake $55 full tank , I use 87 and I’m in California
I have a 2021 fx4 XLT 11k miles if I'm racing with a full tank 150miles if I'm taking it easy on the gas pedal iv gotten 360miles to one tank at 50$ texas 87pump gas
Is there any truck on the market that is perfect? We come here mostly because their truck was just purchased and all we see and hear is bad and the good. Oh buy this for better riding or do this or do that. Here spend a couple thousand on new suspension. Why buy a new truck then? Just purchase a used and put in what ever you need.
I love my Ranger. When I drive my truck I want it to feel like a truck not a Rolls. My Mustang feels like a Mustang, not my Grandfathers car. Imo. Hagd.
Nothing wrong with the ranger, you're just having 2nd thoughts about your iffy purchase and needed something negative to say.. it amazes me how many Toyota fans are drawn to a Ranger review.
i dont what it is but i hate watching a car review of any sought without seeing the car/truck..i dont want to listen and watch the tachometer ..so with that said i am out of here
My 2019 Lariat has a button between the auto start disable and trailer tow buttons to turn the parking sensors off. It has to be done after every restart like the auto start though. The pre collision system is accessed through the dashboard menu.
Lets see a 100k review and see. these reviews of miles still under warranty not really informative since the vehicle is still basically new. Make it run like new at over 100k miles. I have taken care of my truck and have made it last to over 200k miles, all stock. Cant say that for these Rangers. Also is a turn off that this Ranger is an already 10 year old design when Ford brought it back to America. Now its the oldest design in the mid size class and the prices are bad. Sell them all over the world for a lot less money than here in the USA. A new vehicle should have zero issues for a very long time. Also starting to see Rangers now that are getting fuel mixing with their oil. Search it and you will see.
I get fuel mixed in with my 5.0 Gen 2 with over 800hp. It’s not a major issue. This Ranger is not a 10 year old design. The 10R80 nor the RS2.3 is either. You really should educate yourself before making assumptions on an entire platform. On top of that the 2.3 is forged. Search it and you’ll educate yourself.
@@NemesisDigitalMedia They put in their basic 4 cylinder from Focus in order to be able to sell it in the USA the truck body design, its interior and all its features are the same as the Rangers all of the rest of the world for last decade. Forged crankshaft and connecting rods only, not fully forged internals. The 10sp transmission may be unique to the Now New ( 11-12 yrs old in rest of the world ) American ranger.
@@NemesisDigitalMedia Here are the Euro Spec ranger and its options. Got 3 engine choices in rest of world. 2.2l I4 diesel auto or manual 128hp 243 torq. Or same 2.2l I4 with 158 hp and 283 tq, finally 3.2l i5 197 hp 346 tq. So in rest of the world you get these options. USA ranger one 2.3L 4 cylinder Eco boost borrowed from Focus RS platform. 270 HP and 310 tq. World ranger has three cab and bed length configurations, US ranger has two cab and bed configurations. Euro Ranger has many more trims. Xl XLT Limitied, Black edition, Wildtrak, Wiltrak X and Ranger raptor. USA ranger xl xlt and lariat. I understand that these differences are because of the Governments and nothing else really. I really wanted a new ranger, but unless it is ever offered with a NA v6 and not a boosted smaller motor I will consider again. Even the Euro has a 5 cylinder diesel.
A 4 banger under the hood is laughable...when the ford engineers gets off the drugs & not being high they can do the thing called common sense & put out a 6 banger under the hood & only then I would consider buying a ranger until then rangers are junk on wheels...
As the other guy said you’re so stupid you should have your mouth sewed together. There’s not a single mid sized v-6 truck that has as much power or tows as much weight as that useless turbo 4. Dont believe me go to a drag strip and watch what these 4 cylinder trucks can do. And with a tune they run muscle car times. But that’s ok. You just go buy a boring Chevy or dodge or Toyota v-6 truck andwatch as the world passes you by. Dumb turd
