Some of indie gamesare really good and I also recommend these for the switch too Stardew Valley, Blasphemous, Black Bird, Dex, Gunman Clive, Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 1 and 2, Blaster Master trilogy, and River City girls. That's just my recommendation
Phenomenal list and SEA OF STARS so well deserved, also supergiant is my favorite indie dev so much love there. I would add Ender Lillies, Fuga Melodies of Steel, Ara Fell, Darkest Dungeon, Dredge, Slay the Spire, and Curse of the Dead Gods myself!
Great list, thank you! You made me inspired to once again take up the controller and try to beat Hollow Night. Omg that map system just kills me sometimes. Getting lost in a metrodvania is the worst. My critical feedback is: please, slow down and breathe. :D I often need to catch my breath just by listening to you talk.
One indie game that was not mentioned here that I seriously enjoyed was Shantae and the Seven Sirens. While I do really like Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, as well as Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero, Shantae and the Seven Sirens is my favorite. It has a lovely 8-bit soundtrack, amazing new characters, awesome boss battles, and some pretty cool areas. The addition of the Director's Cut update added a surprisingly challenging variety of modes. I even have a tradition to replay Shantae and the Seven Sirens every year on June 2nd.
A few more I’d recommend: Axiom Verge, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon (1 & 2), Signalis, Gunman Clive (1 & 2), Velocity 2X, Cyber Shadow, Gris, Mask of the Ninja Remastered, They Bleed Pixels, Super Cyborg, Inside, and Limbo.
Bit late to the game, but I think Outerwilds (not outerworlds) always deserve a shout out to top indie games list. Especially one this big. In terms of story, mechanics, and structure (0 hand holding, figure it out, open world) it was definitely the most rewarding game I've played.
@knightley_6779 I loved the Ori series and absolutely loved playing Sea of Stars. I'm actually only playing The Messenger to get a little more out of Sea of Stars since they are in the same universe. I'm halfway through but had to put it down for a bit because the boss fights and some of the levels are ridiculously hard to beat. I'm currently at 248 deaths making it not so fun to play anymore. I heard about Chained Echoes because of Sea of Stars and am only a couple hours into it. Some reviewers love it more than Sea of Stars and I personally don't see why. That's not to say it won't be a good game but so far I have noticed some wokeisms (which I hate to see in games), some plays off of actual false flag events that happened in our real world (which is interesting), and some really disturbing things like a guy getting ready to eat a cake with a baby in it (I have no idea why they thought that was a good idea to put in). But as you can see, besides Ori the other games I'm playing are because Sea of Stars is that great. On deck is Octopath Travelers 2.
Imo, Darkest Dungeon, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Indivisible, Sakuna, Battle Chasers, Ruined King, Fallen Legion and Trine games should be somewhere on this list too.
I don’t think anything will ever top Stardew Valley for me. It’s not only my favourite indie but it’s my fave game of all time 😌 Cannot wait for Haunted Chocolatier!
At this point, I would be incredibly surprised if Silk Song releases on the switch, maybe the Switch predecessor but seriously you are the first person to mention Silk Song in about a year. It just fell off the face of the earth. It would be great if it came out in time for the Hollidays and when and if it does release, it better get a actual physical and not something like LRG or Special Reserve because it took over 2 years to get the games i ordered.
I just got a switch yesterday! Got also Super Mario RPG which is sweet! I also have a ps4 got some of these indie games but seen some cool ones that i havent heard of!
i tried the demo for sea of stars but the combat was pretty boring, the music and presentation is definitely top notch but i don't know if i'll give it a second chance honestly. i think the next indie i'm gonna try is hades,i heard a lot of great things about it
I got the same feeling when I started playing the game, but the abilities, the character, the music and the story it’s incredible! One of the best game I have played.
Trigger is my goat game as well. I agree with everything you said here. My top 3 is the same as yours as well. Hollow Knight and Chained Echoes were phenomenal, in different ways.
I honestly feel like Hades has the best gameplay I've ever experienced, it's not my favorite game because there are other games that specifically appeal to me more personally, but Hades is just so objectively good
Great list, I think you nailed it for the most part. I'd probably switch Celeste's spot with Cuphead's but that's just personal preference since I couldn't get into it.
First time visiting your channel, but the list is solid and your descriptions on point, I'll be looking for more of your content! ^^ thanks for the recommendations!
I know this was a reupload, but to repost what I said. This is an awesome list, but I wished AVGN 1 + 2 Deluxe could have made the list. Also would have liked to see Undertale, Shredder's Revenge, and Shovel Knight higher. But Sea of Stars reaching the top pick is based.
Great list. I played most of them. But I think number 1 is Crypt of the Necrodancer. Also, Iconoclasts is a top 10 for me (I think it is the 3rd best metroidvania right after Hollow Knight and Ori)
I remember, while watching your live I suggested that you make top 25 best indie games on switch after you made the top 25 best switch games. and you said "that will not happen on this channel, coz you don't play indie games so much on switch or you only focus on exclusives?" something like that. but here you are OJ 😅
How could you skip Stardew Valley the best indie game ever made? Yes it's on other platforms too but so in Sea of Stars and most of the others on your list.
Every time I see someone's list of top XX indie games on XX platform and inside and or limbo isn't mentioned I cry myself to sleep. Not only should it be on the list but it should be number one.
ty for reuploading 💪😎 edit: I'm currently 10hrs in, probably almost beat The Messenger and seeing it at no. 9 game me a big smile on my face :) edit edit: YES LES GO SEA OF STARS AT NO. 1!
While Hollow Knight is the only one of the indie games mentioned here that I played and seriously enjoyed, it's still a really fun game. I'm just sad that I didn't get into Hollow Knight sooner, since I only got into it a couple years ago. Unlike Cuphead, which greatly disappointed me at how easy it was, Hollow Knight was a wonderful challenge. There's enough in the game to keep you coming back for more. The bosses are incredible and have variety for the most part. The lore is so deep, despite being incredibly vague. Finally, it has some awesome areas. If only Team Cherry would stop holding out on us with Silksong.
Wished you mentioned Bug Fables I'm not saying it's top 5 best no but I feel like it should've been part of this list its a Paper Mario mario just replace the Mushroom kingdom with one guy's backyard and it plays exactly like paper mario 1 and it's supposed to look like it visually badges, there is a partner, lovable characters, catchy music, everything you're looking for in a GOOD Paper Mario game it's there and if you don't have access to the other Paper mario games and looking for something to tie you over till the TTYD remake releases try Bug Fables it's a good game all be it overlooked (plus its dirt cheap too so try it out)
I don’t get the appeal for Into the Breach. And I like strategy & mech games. I got on the phone. For me it seems really simplistic in design but it was also really difficult. So maybe I just didn’t like it because I wasn’t any good. Lol. I hope I can try it again and figure it out.
Okay, he had to reupload this. I was wondering why this list looks so familiar I'm guessing some troll flag this video for clout or something because I didn't see nothing offensive
@@shawnkyle6579Typical abuse of youtube system considering it would be more work to rectify the dispute plus your video gets punished from the algorithm of discovery.
Ive played and finished most games on this list. All of them are great except i hate Bastion. I know people love that game but i found it pretty dull. Cool narration though.
A channel of this statue should have chapter titles or whatever it's called. The option of seeing what the games are so I can only watch the ones I'm interested in. WTH?
I’m not clicking like at the beginning. I might not like it. You creators are always asking at the beginning. 😂 don’t tell people what to do it’s infuriating 🤬
