I believe the small symbol at the foot of the graves represents a rose or flower, with leaves extended at the sides. I have seen this before, but could be wrong. By the way great job to all, you never get boring, and are like bloods hounds, working, and searching for the end product.

According to gravestone restorers, special permissions are needed to do even cleaning of non-family stones. Make sure these are secured or fines could be incurred.

What’s better than one Robert? Two Roberts! Such determination. My husband and I recently found an old family cemetery that is only accessible by boat and we are currently making plans to go back and clean it up. It breaks my heart to see these cemeteries so forgotten. People deserve respect even in death. Which is why I love your videos so much. My husband used to think I was crazy for loving cemeteries so much but I think I’m converting him! 😆 Much love and respect for what you do Robert! ♥️ Also I just saw the Find The Forgotten sticker on your teespring! Love it! T-shirt coming soon? 😏

Macrochelys Red I am a member of Find A Grave and didn’t even think to see if it was documented there, just looked and it isn’t. I will definitely be taking pictures and posting to Find A Grave! I did find it documented on another website however. Not sure if you can post links here but I will try. It is a really neat little family cemetery. After doing some research it turns out a member of this family was actually governor of NC right before and during the Civil War and was born on the land that holds the cemetery. He was buried there but was moved at some point. www.trading-ford.org/ellis.html

Jaime S Any idea why they were buried in an island? Just curious. I know that there are little islands that dot the Mississippi near where I live and I remember one of them has a cemetery on it. Just can’t remember which one! Thank you for the link. I’m totally fascinated by these little cemeteries, they are such an untouched link to the past.

“Your name may not appear down here in this world’s hall of fame In fact you may be so unknown that no one knows your name The Oscars and the praise of man may never come your way But don’t forget God has rewards that He will hand out some day This crowd on earth they will soon forget you when you’re not at the top They will cheer like men until you fall and then their praise will stop Not God, He never does forget And in His hall of fame, by just believing on His Son, Forever there is your name I tell you friend, I wouldn’t trade my name however small It’s written there beyond the stars and not so less your hall For all the famous names on earth or the glory that they share I would rather be an unknown here And have my name up there. Until watching your video I had no idea how many forgotten cemeteries there were. They seem so far off the beaten track as well. Sad that a church group or scout group can't clean them out and then keep them up. I believe that is an eye symbol on the bottom of the grave and can mean God is all seeing or can indicate a connection to masons or odd fellows. I will ask Tui and find out for sure. Keep Safe❤ Keep Well❤

Hi, I just wanted to say God bless you guys for all the hard work that y'all do for these forgotten graves. A mother's gentle caress, her midnight loving vigil. First steps, wonders of childhood. A tender smile, exchanges of confidences, arms enfolding as a first kiss happens. The fears and tears of life's deep regrets and losses, ultimately leading to slumber in Death. These "forgotten" people in these graves all shared these in life. Someday we will join them. The Spirit knows no distance nor time. They deserve to be respected and revered when we find them and remember that they were just like us one time, a long time ago. At a lot of cemeteries a family pays for perpetual care of their loved ones graves. Meaning the up keep was part of their plot purchases. I wonder if that was ever provided/included in their purchase of their plots in the areas where you explore? Also, I am noticing that a lot of the folks passed away before 1929 which may have contributed some of the cemetery companies going under due to the Great Depression?

Would be nice if some people get together and save the old cemeteries and have respect that they deserves.

It's possible that strange mark at the bottom was the brand they used on the cattle and horses, for that family. Cattle branding was a way to mark the property, and frankly, a lot of people back then couldn't read more than at a 4th grade level, so the mark would help identify the family. ....just my thoughts on it...

Robert you have to get yourself a strong flashlight that you can attach to your waste with your brush on the other hip so you will have all you need!!

I agree...this one may be the most overgrown you've found. Love you guys! (I want one of those tools Bob uses to cut the tree branches. What are they called?)

Robert you need to get some canned spray air from Office Depot and some white flower from grocery store and you will be able to read the stones a lot easier.
