Mike, the Mariana Trench is in the Western Pacific Ocean, not the Atlantic, it's about 124 miles (200 KM) from the Mariana Islands in which it is named for.
My husband was in the navy, and was a sleepwalker - and yes, you guessed it - he climbed up to the top of the signal tower and walked off. Why am I posting this here? Because he was above the Mariana Trench when it happened!! Thank God someone saw him, or he would have been shark bait! After they rescued him, gave him a shot of brandy and sent him to Hawaii, they discovered that his subconscious mind was just as active as his conscious one. Got a Purple Heart before they discharged him 😃
My boy Mike, I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you said that the Marianas Trench was Atlantic. It’s in the Pacific. Kind of near the Philippines just something you might want to consider… Much L🫶🏻VE to Y🫵🏻U‼️‼️ 19:56 19:56
Love your content. I believe the Mariana Trench is in the pacific ocean. Have you heard about the volcano that wiped out Pompei in Italy may be ready to explode again, causing a global winter? Yikes! Keep them coming Mike!✌️
Well Mike, I grew up in Northern Californaia, in Half Moon Bay [21 miles or 38km south of San Francisco.] And the Farallon Islands are directly west of the North-most 'suburb' of HMB. My Grade Scoll is called Farralon View, in fact, because on clear days you could see the islands way out there. I never knew of the dumping however, instead, we were told to not go near the islands because it is very popular with Great White Sharks. Since we also have a very famous and very, very dangerous surf-spot called Mavericks, the proximity of Great Whites was important to be aware of, even if you were surfing safer shores, but new people would arrive to surf all the time anyway. So I still wanted to visit the islands one day, being a semi-pristine, uninhabited place. This toxic waste issue is distressing for me, not at all okay. I would go to the Gates of Hell in Turkmenstan tho, if I could afford it! I am a nobody, with no political value, and no ties to the press, so I'd pop in to view the hole, walk around it three times and then head back home. The other sites... No, no thank you. Not hiking Annapurna, not sidling along the cliffs in China, no. Just NO.
@@billraddatz7153 I went to Farallon View grade school. Fair-ah-Lon was what we said thre and in Montara, Moss Beach, even El Granada, but okay. This was over 40 years ago, maybe it's changed now, tho even Documentaries a=on sharks say if less as if they are from Boston.
10:59 You're right, Somalia is where the pirates are. However, they weren't always pirates. They used to be fishermen. As Somalia doesn't have a government, other countries started fishing in their waters, so they decided to arm themselves. Then when they armed themselves they never had to do any fishing anymore.
Thanks Mike for the upload....however as a proud Caribbean citizen I feel I must tell you that Boiling Lake in Dominica 🇩🇲 (#16), the name of the country is pronounced "dom-in-EE-ka".
,I really enjoy your presentations, Mike, but I have to corrrect one mistake in this video: You stated that the Marianas Trench is in the Atlantic Ocean, when it's actually in the Pacific, near Guam (been there, passed up the chance to descend to it). That's the first time I've noticed a mistake in your presentations, so I think your record is great! Notice, though, that I don't talk about your pronunciation (Really, Missyc4463? "Prouncement"?); I don't really know most languages outside of America or British English other than German. Thank you for all the hard work you put into these presentations! I really appreciate the chance to learn things I never knew before.
Not to be too picky but you usually do a pretty job but not this time. The Marianas Trench is in the southwest portion of the Pacific ocean between Japan and Papua New Guinea.
Agree, and Mike's pronunciation Spanish and Chinese language places in this vid was superb. He goes to great lengths. I would, however, point out that Eritrea is pronounced "Er un TRE uh," not "Er RIT ree uh." At least, that's the standard.
1°21′N 142°12′E / 11.350°N 142.200°E The Mariana Trench is an oceanic trench located in the western Pacific Ocean, about 200 kilometres (124 mi) east of the Mariana Islands; it is the deepest oceanic trench on Earth. It is crescent-shaped
Along with the deadly aspects of nature, we humans it seems are unfortunate experts at wrecking places and making them deadly places to go to. The only safe way to travel on the Death Road in Bolivia, would be in a armoured small military vehicle with a navigation system and weather app, so why even go on it.... a crazy enterprise. Is Godzilla hiding in that Russian lake? 😁
Mike, I hold the highest respect for you, because you research the proper pronunciation of foreign words. This makes a difference in whether you are a narrator or a very good reporter.
Agreed! I hate when some RU-vidrs are like "lol sorry if I butcher this name" and stuff like that. Like you can't take two seconds to look up the pronunciation?? Ugh 🤦
Been in the LITTLE DESERT region for 40years. Near a National park. On a remote acreage. Yes. In that time, I have nearly stepped on a brown snake. Seen one other. A lot of redbacks under sheets of iron, dark corners. I have however, been kicked by horses, fallen off horses. Bitten by dogs and cats. Been beaten by humans... I'll have less trouble with the wildlife thanks! Greetings from Dimboola in Victoria, Australia.
Traversing our wonderous outback: bring heaps of bottled water, extra fuel- it most likely be hundreds of kilometres/miles to the next refuelling station. Blankets and warm clothes, it gets cold in the desert of a night. A pair of good sneakers/runners, if walking around. Cell/mobile phone, tho likely no coverage all the way out there. A knowledge of our dangerous creatures and how to treat, if bitten. And most importantly, let others know of the trip, and the parts you will be going to, so, if something does go wrong, searcher's will have an idea of where you should be on any given day. Safe & happy travels🙂.
Wittenoom is at a very beautiful location, been there few time's. Natural Asbestos is not dangerous, it becomes dangerous when processing. That place is worth visiting, you need vehicle with good ground clearance, because road inside the gorge is washed out. Best keep air-conditioning and in recirculation. Outback well unlike othere locations Australia doesn't have animals that see you as a food source. The snakes in Australia, unlike viper's prefer to avoid contact with humans. So you can move safely about. However, like any savannah or desert areas, carry water, food and basic things like spare tire etc. If you intend to hike, let someone know where you go and when you expect to be back. Police be happy to take those details. Don't forget to notify when you finished your excursion.
It's cool that you included Death Road in Bolivia. I watched a documentary about it and find it terrifying. 300auto deaths a year is a lot, almost one per day. It's crazy to me that its still in use. Thanks Mike. Hopefully they'll push these videos out to more people, you guys deserve at least ten times the amount of view!❤
Personally I prefer some of the woods in England. The worst that can happen is squirrels getting int your garbage (foxes are extremely rare in some of them).
Re Ramree Island, I happened to watch a video of that WWII story today! The current opinion is that a) way more people got out of the marshes than reported; b) the guy who told the story most people know wasn't there; c) the given numbers of crocs versus the supposed numbers of humans eaten by them don't add up - there were numerous other ways of dying, like being shot by the Allies. Some people absolutely did get eaten by crocs, just nowhere near the numbers reported.
I've only just discovered your channel within the last couple of months...You're channel is amazing! I was a regular "most Amazing top 10" watcher...it's nice to have a different channel to watch that is not all about spooky stuff..your content is never boring and has a much better list of variation for videos. Love both channels, but really really loving this one.! AND YOU'RE AN AWESOME HOST! Thanks so much for providing info which will likely save lives! Appreciated!! 💖
Yeah, props to you, Mike! ^_^ I used to watch Mostamazingtop10 all the time, but then the three amazing hosts, Landon Doulatsingh, Danny Burke, and Rebecca Felgate, left the channel and were replaced by less exciting hosts. To top it off, I still get alerts about new vids from them, but like you said, @quartzsilk3035, it's only creepy, spooky stuff now. They used to do a lot more variety, smh...
I loved the video The trail of death is a definite no for me. I admire people that can do anything in regards to heights. I however love white water rafting, I was fortunate enough to be able to go on the Jordan River back in high-school. If I was not so afraid of heights I would love to see Devil's Pool that looks amazing. Awesome list yet again.
Lake Karachay (Russian: Карача́й), sometimes spelled Karachai or Karachaj, was a small lake in the southern Ural mountains in central Russia. Starting in 1951, the Soviet Union used Karachay as a dumping site for radioactive waste from Mayak, the nearby nuclear waste storage and reprocessing facility, located near the town of Ozyorsk (then called Chelyabinsk-40). Today the lake is completely infilled, acting as "a near-surface permanent and dry nuclear waste storage facility."
As much as I love Japan and want to visit someday, I'm never going to those Iko Islands after hearing about them... I'll stick to the main islands if I do ever get to go, thankyouverymuch... Especially for the cities of Kyoto or Tokyo! 🤩
Hey Mike double check your facts on #22, though still a very dangerous, the numbers did those lost have been re-evaluated which is why that incident no longer holds the Guinness World Record for most fatalities from a single occurrence. (Ref:Thoughty2 video posted 6.26.23)
I live in south Louisiana - I won’t even stick a toe in the waters down here (one of my friends father was literally eaten by an alligator outside of his own home; my friend had to submit DNA to confirm his father’s remains removed from the gators stomach) much less visit a place that has radioactive chemicals in the air. I’m all about adventure, but there’s a reason the Darwin awards exist.
I hate to burst your bubble, but it has recently been determined the the salt water alligators could not have done away with all of the soldiers going through the Burma swamp. Many died of disease, infections, and being shot by Americans patrolling the waters.
I’m always impressed by your perfect pronunciation.. excellent job!! 😊❤ Eritrea is pronounced “air-eh-tray-Ah.” My uncle worked there when he was with USAID.
At one point in my life, when I was younger, I would've perhaps entertained the strong possibly of going to one or several; now I just strive to live, moderately comfortably.
Mike, can you update your list to correct the comment about the Mariana Trench being in the Atlantic, since it's actually in the PACIFIC Ocean? I double checked as I was confused given your standard of integrity when reporting data & historical facts :)
"WHAT I THINK IS SEEN IS TOO MUCH OF MY THINK" the 'oops' thumbnail, is not so easy with all of that fire & backdrop on screen, to confirm that was really an actual 'guy' in chosen picture - I still say, if it is a dude, then, that is not his dress that I see upon this reddish silhouette.. or is the 'guys' thing like how it's been generalized, and everybody gets called that by anyone, sometime, and you did put a female - these things can get crazy and cause insomnia when there is no obvious finish.. guess it'll just have to be an unbroken question, sat upon the shelf beside any of the other weird, scary & mysterious; is there mercy for the one who can't help but fix each sideways pics, handles & tipped mirrors ? - €πD - ~WarriorPoet~
Thoughty2 just released a video debunking the Ramree Island Japanese Army retreat. It's a good breakdown on why that retreat was terrible, but not because of the crocs.
I actually recognized a bunch of these places, like the place that inspired bikini bottom for SpongeBob. Lol. This is a cool list. Well, honestly all of your lists are cool. You're part of the reason that I'm so good at trivial pursuit. Lbs.
