I will say I live with my parents still and I’m 31. Granted it’s an apartment attached to there house and I give them money each week, but it’s just me and my dog so it works out. Plus I do have some health problems and earlier this year I got nemonia and was sick. I got to the point it was hard to move and walk. My parents had not seen me for a few days and my mom came over and I couldn’t get up to even get the door. They used there key came in and when I tried to stand up to see them I couldn’t stand at all. They got me to the car and brought me to the hospital. I ended up having blood poisoning caused by the nemonia. I couldn’t get my phone charger and my phone was dead. It saved my life and I’m great full for living with them because of that.

While they are often used interchangeably there is a difference between barbequing and grilling. To simplify things: Cooking hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. on an outdoor grill is grilling while slow-cooking with sauces, marinades, etc. is barbequing. Grilling is fast while barbequing is slow. Basically. Cheers.

In my family, on both sides, that's not the norm. We tend to live with multiple generations under one roof, unless there's an absolute need to leave the family home. As you grow up, the only thing that changes is who owns the house or pays the bills. It's usually shared. I absolutely love this arrangement. I hate when someone moves out. 😢

Concerning GPS and maps. Older folks wouldn't have a problem without GPS because GPS to us is something relatively new to us. When you have driven many years without it, you have routes indelibly carved inside your brain. Well, at least I do.

I don't know about Jersey, but the UK also started using GPS in cars much longer ago than we did in the US. GPS units ("SatNav") were a fairly standard feature in cars over there even before mobile phone usage became so universal, whereas built-in Google-Map-like GPS thingies aren't a standard feature in cars over here (we just use our phones for that).

Another fact to add to those is the US-Canada border is the longest international border in the world, and one of the friendliest. It used to be you only needed a valid US identification like a driver's license to cross into and back from Canada. No passport or visa necessary. However things have now changed and there are a lot more requirements. Still no visa for citizens of each, but an "enhanced" drivers license is required and a passport is recommended. (This only applies to ground travel. Air travel requires a passport.) You also have to have an up-to-date Covid vaccination card or equivalent.
@kristend344

Boat travel also requires a passport. From Washington state - there are three separate water routes into Canada. All three go to Vancouver Island in British Columbia.

@@tarmaque Another option is driving across the border, and taking the BC Ferry from Tsawwassen. They're nicer boats than the WA state ferries and they make the run far more often than the WA state ferries. The clipper out of Seattle is fastest into the inner harbor in Victoria, but no car when you get there.

I always travel with a 18 wheeler guide maps of the US anyway.

I actually feel that more families should embrace generational living. There are many ways to create space so you don't feel like you are shoehorned together like a can of sardines. If you have a bit of land, it could be as simple as adding additional houses. Not just because of the cost of living. But because young couple could use the help with their children. Older adults could use help with technology and maintenance chores. While the elderly members of the family could use help with some daily tasks and have the peace of mind of not being alone in case of a fall, accident or other types of emergencies. Generational living use to be the way. Then people move for jobs & opportunities and slowly over the decades/centuries, it started to be frowned upon like it was something horrible.

I live an hour away from Lake Superior & it's so massive that it creates its own weather patterns & affects the weather of the surrounding area. The water is cold pretty much all year, but the water temperature is usually warm enough in the winter that it doesn't freeze completely because the water is warmer than the temperature of the air. Lake Effect Snow is caused by the dry winter air going over the open water & picking up moisture that gets deposited over the shore as the wind gets over the land. Who gets the snow depends on what direction the wind is blowing. That's why the North Shore in Minnesota & the South Shore in Wisconsin & the UP of Michigan get so much snow. The UP also gets Lake Effect Snow from Lake Michigan, so they totally get dumped on all winter. Even in summer, when the wind is coming off the lake (out of the east) the cooler air over the cold water in Lake Superior makes it much cooler down by the lake than up on top of the hill in Duluth - it can also make it warmer down by the lake in winter because it's colder on top of the hill - that's partially why the shores get so much snow with winds off the lake.

There is an actual Liberty Bell of the West. It is in a shrine at Kaskaskia, Illinois. When George Rogers Clark captured the British Fort of Kaskaskia, he then went to the town of Kaskaskia which was inhabited mainly by French settlers. The British had won the area from the French in an earlier war. Clark did not know the loyalty of the French civilians and spoke harshly to them when they first met. The civilians gathered in the town church and sent the priest to talk with Clark asking for leniency before they were forced to abandon their homes. Clark was dumbfounded and told them that if they were willing, they were now citizens of the new United States and did not have to leave or give up any belongings. Overjoyed at not having to abandon their homes or belongings, the French citizens rang the church bell to announce their freedom and new status as citizens of the United States. This bell also has a crack.

The Statue of Liberty is on NY property. The island is closer to New Jersey and they fought over who own it. They settled it by a ferry race around the island. New York won! That is what we were taught in elementary school. Ellis island, where immigrants came to before entering to US is part NY and part NJ. If I remember correctly, the receiving part is NY property but the hospitals where those found to have health problems and not allowed to enter US is NJ property.

When it was made, they still hadn't standardized the spelling of the state (double-N in the middle or single). They went with the single N, which didn't end up being the final spelling. Also, the U.S. has an obesity problem, no doubt, but while we have the highest number of obese people in number, we do not have the highest percentage of obese people. There are multiple countries higher than us, percentage-wise, and more that are fairly close to us. Even so, not a good place to be. 😕

Where living at home with parents is concerned, for decades, young Americans graduated from school, secured a good job and was out of the parents home earning a living by age 22 -23 years, and paying their own bills, including rent, car and insurance. To need to move back home felt like failure, even if it wasn’t.

First and foremost as always. My wife and I love you guys. Now that I've said that so you know, I'm not a hater. I just watched your 13 minute video. And it seems that there was about 5 minutes of video and discussion by the narrator and 8 minutes of you guys talking about those issues or things. I do love your comments but there's gotta be A better percentage-wise in terms of the video and your comments on the video and the number of times you stop it. Okay, that's it, but once again, I just want to remind you, we love you guys, so don't think we're being Harsh. We just thought it might help you in the future.

Living with your parents is something that is a recent trend most kids will leave home after high school and if you live with your parents after college graduation people are going to look down on you I left home when at 17 because I graduated early which is common here to. I bought my first house at 21yrs boy that was a mistake when you are young you want to move to different different places not be tied down with a house after I sold the house I moved every six months because in the day 80s and 90s they would offer you free 1st and last month's rentals and no deposit so in a year I would get 4mo free rent and no deposit those were the day's

One reason that we have the most obese people is that in the 1990's, the NIH changed the standards. Obese is defined as 30 or more lbs over what you SHOULD weigh, according to the NIH. Up until the change, the standard was 6' 200lbs, so a man who was 6' 210lbs was NOT obese, but in ONE DAY, the after they changed the standards to 6' 180lbs, the man became obese overnight, because he was now 30lbs over what he SHOULD be according to the NIH. Btw, Michael Jordan while he was leading the Chicago Bulls to 6 championships in the NBA was classified as OBESE because of these standards he was considered OVERWEIGHT. Really?

One dollar coins are actually common.. if you are a federal employee, or one of the many people who use an official state run roadside “Rest Area” and you use a vending machine and use a $5 or $10 bill in the machine, you are very likely going to receive your change in dollar coins plus change. I’ll have to figure out how to mail you some examples of the dollar coin. Take care and keep your legs propped up Millie!!

...You can buy a mint proof, and send it to them. There are a lot of companies that do this. But go with the cheapest ones. Not worth paying more for the same service that a hundred others provide for half the price. Lots of grifters online.

We have 1$ coins in the U.S. They used to be silver dollars, but in the last few decades they have been gold. They are rarely used but you may get a handful from some vending machines as change. I called them "pirate money" and mostly handed them out to young nieces and nephews as such.

Gold plated. "Silver dollars" are 1/20th of a pound of pure silver which was the definition of a dollar. (Dimes are 1/200th of a pound and quarters are 1/80th, both were also pure silver until 1964 when they moved to funny money in anticipation of the final debasement completed by Nixon in 1971)

Good Heavens guys, they’re not gold nor gold-plated, not for $1. They’re made of manganese, zinc, copper, and nickel. It’s like an Oreo, with copper inside, and outer layers of gold-ish colored manganese-brass (an alloy of all 4 metals).

I am sorry I did not clarify; I should have put both "silver dollars" and "gold dollars" in parentheses. Referencing what they are commonly called because of the color, not the metallurgic makeup--thus, "pirate" money for my playful nieces and nephews.

No, he didn't say all of South America alone, but all of the Western Hemisphere, i.e., both N. and S. Interesting facts about Puerto Rico--if it actually joins the USA, it will be #3 state with a state division other than counties: Alaska has boroughs, Louisiana has parishes, PR has municipalities, 95% of the population speak Spanish at home; and it's just east of Eastern time, giving us a 7th. time zone. Most of us pronounce the 2nd. river in the list (#18) as suss-kwuh-HAN-uh, rather than HAH-nuh (Susquehanna) This must be an old video, since the national park list is now up to 63: Pinnacles --CA in 2013; Gateway Arch--MO in '18; Indiana Dunes in '19--guess; White Sands--NM in '19; New River Gorge--'20 in WV. Maybe it's my age, but I don't own GPS, and don't even desire it, since I prefer road atlases. Sorry, but #14 should be Samoa, at least when it comes to percentage of the population.

jimgreen: I think so because America hasn't been the most obese country for years. Unless he said First World nation, in which case, it's true. But, when you see the list of obese countries, and realize that there are a lot of these same people immigrating to America, I wonder if that has anything to do with it

@@jimgreen5788 Yes. It's the same in a lot of areas, mostly poor. You should look at videos showing schools and regular scenes of American society from the 90s and previous decades. It's kinda weird because you won't see a lot of overweight people with tats, piercings, anime hair, and drab clothing. Or trashy streets filled with homeless people, the mentally ill, mobs of unruly kids, and stories of mass insanity. It's like looking at an alternate universe. Try it sometime. It's crazy
