Hey Mike! Thanks for mentioning the Filipino custom of "pagpag". As Filipinos, we always do it whenever we leave the wake. Actually, there are other Filipino superstitious beliefs related to wakes or funerals. Here are some of them: -When carrying the casket of a dead person outside the family's house for burial, the body is brought outside feet first so as to prevent the soul of the deceased person from coming back to the home of the immediate family and relatives (perhaps this practice was copied from the Europeans or British during the Victorian era). -If a person dies due to a serious crime, relatives place a small chick over the glass panel of a casket where the deceased person's face can be viewed. Filipinos believe this will help hasten the process of serving justice for the person who passed away. -It is considered unlucky to take home any food that was served to guests during the wake, but after the burial the guests can bring home the packed meals given to them by the bereaved family members. -During the wake-whether it is morning, afternoon, evening, or midnight-someone must constantly stay and keep watch of the deceased person's body. This was done in primitive times (before the Spanish era) because a certain monster known as "Balbal" would steal the corpse from its coffin, and replace the dead body with a thick banana tree trunk when no one was guarding the corpse.😊⚰️

My late mother-in-law had always been told not to shake out a tablecloth outside after dark. One night she did it, and not five minutes later, a car came around the corner, smashed into their parked car. Then the driver came up to the house, shaking and upset, apologized, and asked to use their phone (before cell phones). She gave her insurance information, sat down, and promptly peed herself, soaking their armchair. After that night, my mother-in-law after a holiday meal, would place the used tablecloth in the laundry room, and would shake off the crumbs from it in the morning.

As i said im 71 years old and just spent about 3 weeks rebuilding a coleman scooter. I also built a rack to hang it on that inserts into the receiver on the back of my pick up. Night before last i hung it on the rack and secured it with a cable and locked it to the truck so id be ready to go ride it the next day. As i should have predicted the "poor homeless" pronounced TWEAKERS cut the cable and stole it! The saddest part is i didnt even attempt to file a theft report because the Tacoma Police department has taught me that they have absolutely no interest in persuing such things. In the past couple of years i have had my 79 MG stolen, a stock set of tires and wheels worth a couple thousand dollars stolen off my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire as well as other items stolen from my premises and as i said they make it so troublesom to turn in a theft report that since experience has taught me thay even if i fought to get a report filed it wouldnt matter if the authorities cant be bothered to give a shit.

When we lived in South Dakota there were a ton of 4 and 5 and even 6-leaf clovers in our yard... we thought of it as a mutant patch of clover... but you could go out there just about any day of the year (except in winter) and find a 4 leaf clover pretty quickly...

Immediately a lead brick, used to balance the scenery as they are brought in or out, fell from the grid above us, right next to her feet. Those bricks are always secured so they won't fall, and no one was was on the grid. She's a believer now.

What I'd heard about Japan's storm and belly button part was that it wasn't Raijin eating belly buttons, but the Youkai, Raijuu, sleeping in the belly button. Raijin would then shoot lightning at the belly button to wake Raijuu up, injuring someone in the process. Japanese people would also thus sleep either indoors or face-down to avoid getting hurt.

I have stopped wearing black to funerals, instead I wear something related to that person. Like my Dad's favorite color was blue, so I wore blue ( a darker shade, but still blue). And my Grandma's nickname was Lavender, so most of the family wore something with a shade of purple. I'm going to ask for band shirts to be worn to mine as I love music. Maybe some will even wear some of my own band shirts. RIP to all those that are no longer here with us.

Down here we have hundreds of superstitions from all over the planet being the melting pot for the USA .Naturally no one agrees on any of them and they can cancel each other out at any time depending on location .Similar to our great food and music a never ending variety of both .What is bad in North Carolina might be lucky in Florida or Georgia .You could easily do a list 25 on just the types of southern food ,accents and stereotypes .

It goes much further than that, yes another ridiculous to us just another stupidstition: The actuaal or earlier reason to wear black was to prevent bad spirits to 'see' (how to see in the black, that is another question) to prevent bad spirits to find the target disceased wearing white. @0:59 It amazes me that any adult can believe such absurd things as souls, "god(s)", devils, spirits. I know one day humanity will finally leave all that behind, we're closer today than we ever have been before. Just sad to me that I won't live to see a world without the hate, discrimination and evil that is organized religion.

It amazes me that people any adult can hate on other peoples beliefs and blame religion for the actions of humans. You do realize atheists do the same thing right?

The southern United States wants a word with the host .Only 25 for the world ? Down here we have hundreds of superstitions from all over the planet being the melting pot for the USA .Naturally no one agrees on any of them and they can cancel each other out at any time depending on location .Similar to our great food and music a never ending variety of both .What is bad in North Carolina might be lucky in Florida or Georgia .You could easily do a list 25 on just the types of southern food ,accents and stereotypes .
