I guess why some of these became ghost towns is because they couldn't "mine" their own business! Ok, I'll see myself out...

Wasn't Centralia, PA an inspiration behind the Silent Hill games?
@memorialled_zeppelin-warew1346
jimbo 2346 .... Yes it was. Poor Centralia was a product of local politics and stupidity if the same.

Silent hill movie is somewhat based on Centralia pa, the underground fire is real n still burning till this day people still live there but only like ten people. I live in pa. You can find the full history of it online . There's a lot of haunted places here.

Yeah, I dunno why they threw in that "you should avoid" because there really aren't that many like Centralia or Pripyat that should be avoided. All those desert towns are okay, and the one in France that stands as a memorial is sorta meant to be seen and remembered.
@ginnymiller2448
@ginnymiller2448 6 лет назад
Agree. The title to this video is very misleading. He should've made the list shorter to make the title more accurate, or just call it something like "25 creepy ghost towns". Except for the obvious examples like Centralia and Pripyat, many of the other places in this video are just normal ghost towns that aren't especially dangerous. Some are even advertised for tourists to visit. If people are faint of heart and afraid of "ghosts", they should just stick to safe and sane vacation destinations such as Disney World.

I live in a small village like town in Canada with only 90-110 ppl living around here, it wasn’t always small tho, in the past (1790-1940) the whole town burnt down twice, causes are unknown till this day but it was claimed to be a witches graveyard, the fire caused almost a thousand ppl to move to inner city’s, this place is almost a ghost town if it wasn’t for the rowdy drunks lmao I’ve got a bunch of books from the old town hall here, if anyone would like to look into this let me know I have the records

I saw a movie a while back of a small town that is extremely haunted. It seems that the ghosts inhabit the town's vehicles and cause the roads to be destroyed at strange times, only for them to be in perfect condition within a few days. Whatever you do, don't go to Radiator Springs!!! I've been to Terlingua Texas. Kind of a must for geochemistry students.

I see a lot of people asking why you can't or shouldn't visit. It's all safety. Chernobyl is still radioactive. A lot of the other ones have buildings that could easily be pushed over by hand. Centralia is still toxic, it can cause respiratory issues that you wouldn't want. It's all SAFETY, would you want your kids playing in these places? No? Then why should you? If you choose to then by all means please use plenty of safety gear and research the specific places or buildings to know you won't be crushed if it falls

There is no need to avoid Kolmanskop, but you do have to arrange a tour rather than go on your own. I have been there once many years ago and I'd go back again given half the chance. It is being preserved and is a tourist attraction and even has a museum. Tours can be booked in Luderitz. Of course it is eerie and a bit creepy but still wonderful.

Wow, an exceptional compilation! I have heard of perhaps half of the places on your list. But I must say that you have presented a perfectly measured, worldwide survey of the most intriguing ghost towns. Top marks for crafting short but utterly compelling portraits of each spot. Eerie snapshots layered with their most disturbing & distinguishing FACTS, thank you very much, stamp each indelibly upon ones memory. Truly outstanding work! I'm sold, subscribed and signed on for notifications. How's the air up there amongst the worthy few, atop the pile of so many, so so, though sincere endeavours?!?! Peace, Regan 🌈 from NorCal

My family owns about 3/4 of a ghost town in Montana it was called Laredo Montana. It wasn't very big but did have a pool hall, bar, Bank, couple shops, and a pair of grand elevators. Which my great-grandfather worked at and live right across from in his own little house. The town was not haunted but just died out due to the lack of progress as well as mostly people centering around a larger hubs like Havre which is where we mostly go now for our Major town. The rail line that went through Laredo is now abandon and she used for storage by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

Imber Wiltshire , England being on Sailsbury Plains and miles away from any other town or village it was slowly bought by the Ministry of Defence . In 1943 the MOD evicted the 150 remaining residents so that American troops could train there in preparation for the invasion of Europe . It's currently used by British armed forces for training purposes . You definitely don't want to visit this place because you might get shot .

Great video. One minor correction: there was no "unlucky" involved with Pripyat being the closest city to Chernobyl, as it was expressly built to house the workers of the nuclear facility as well as their families. Carry on!
@M335h1
@M335h1 6 лет назад
Terrible click bait title as video doesn't tell you specifically why you should avoid each place aside from pa which is skewed info at best. Pripyat you don't even mention the radiation levels still standing. Poorly researched, Michigan alone has over 25 ghost towns with dangerous traps and..... Smh.
@memorialled_zeppelin-warew1346
Parrot Hill ,USA:where the water is polluted by Mercury tails used for getting gold out of rock. Semitre , Brazil: abandoned mining town silver mine water and ground so polluted that no one who cares for their health would go anywhere near there and the government have banned travel to the area . All roads to the place have been destroyed but dirt roads are Avaidable to use via 4wD vechiles . Wouldn't go there if you paid me but know people who have the buildings are brilliantly in good shape for the years they've been left but apparently the air smells metallic and tastes funny. That's not such a good sign. Kylarger, Germany: town built purely for worker from the local ww2 Nazi concentration camp nearby. The camp is now a museum and the town remains are the town hall and a shop and two homes. They aren't in great shape and the whole area just feels wrong. It's spooky as hell . Staying nearby at another bigger close town no one wanted to talk much about Kylarger and locals mostly avoid the place unless their empolyed at the museum.

Everyone said we were daft to build a capital on a swamp in Alabama, but we built one all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So we built a second one and that one sank into the swamp. So we built a third. That burned down, fell over, and then sank into the swamp. We decided to move to Montgomery, after that.
