I was 18 years old at this time and I was at this concert! I’ll never forget seeing Keith wallop that dude with his guitar! I’m so glad to have this concert on RU-vid! I still have my ticket stub...$15.00 and I was very close to the stage!
I was 17 and had a blast!! This was Friday night December 18th, 1981, Keith Richard's Birthday, and was the very 1st Pay Per View ever at the time. There was a Sold Out Saturday night Show as well. My Ticket cost $25.00 which was 1/2 Price from the Scalper outside, but it had $25.00 stamped on it. Needless to say, Dinner was forgotten about when I saw the man holding the Tickets sign, hahaha!! I was all the way to the front in front of Keith for most of the concert, then about 15 feet from the stage. A few times, I was on my date's shoulders!! Good times!!
I attended this concert with my dad, I was 16 years old. They played two back to back nights, the first night was broadcast live nationally on TV, it was a big deal and the night I attended was the night of this broadcast Dec 20th, notice the nice cameras in the arena. The Rolling Stones MTV music video "Going to a Go Go" is footage from this night. The manager of the Hampton Coliseum, Andy Greenwell had the ability to get big level bands to the arena, something that has not happened since he retired many years later. I picked up four Bruce Springsteen tickets from his office a year or so later but when I was heading back to the car, I had people offering me $400-$600 cash for them. As a teenager back in the early eighty's, that was a lot of money that I could not resist. My dad was friends with Andy, I never told my dad or Andy I did not attend the Springsteen concert. My parents saw Elvis a few years earlier, one of his last concerts before his death.
Awesome story. And yes, that’s a chunk of dough even for today’s standards. And AMAZING ya got to see this show cause Stones were on 🔥 and in top form.
First Keith hits the guy in his head with his guitar (guy momentarily stunned), then Keith hits the guy in the face with a straight left. The guys ass had been kicked, then Keith continues to rock on. Keith....Icon!
please find me another drummer, any drummer in the whole world, able to play for 7 and more minutes a 4/4 beat like this without being boring. Ladies and gentlemen: Charlie Watts! (with the great help of Bill Wyman, of course)
The stones are definitely coming in hot 🔥. Mick is always ready to party with the fans and get it kick started. This is how you do rock and roll. 🎉🎉 Keep rockin and rolling 🎉🎉.
Astounding special effect when the fan runs on and Keith wields the Telecaster and then tunefully rocks-on. Superb guitarmanship and grace under pressure by the whole band. Unique band DNA.
I was there this night, 12/18/81 ! Awesome show , Mick and the guys didn’t disappoint . I still have ( a very deflated) balloon from the show . I remember it was frigid cold that night , like 18 degrees . Who wants to wear a coat inside? I was so hyped after the show, I didn’t even care how cold it was outside . I DO know it was a long walk to the car though .George Thurogood was rocking it out too ! It was one heck of a show for sure !
A crew of us blew up and tied 13,000 balloons for this show. We took a lunch break and listened to GT and the Destroyers do their sound check. There was definitely snow on the ground when we arrived that morning. The other people who blew up the balloons were a couple friends and 3 members of the States band along with their significant others. Long and memorable day it was.
Had a big pay per view watch party with friends for this concert when it happened back in the day. The memories are a little dim due to all the smoke in the room!
I was there. It was fantastic!! It was Friday December 18th, 1981 and was the very 1st Pay Per View ever. They also had a Sold Out show on Saturday night. George Thorogood opened for them on Friday, not sure abt. Saturday.
When I'ma riding in my car and a man 🤣♂️ comes on the stage !!! And Kieth Richards telecasters the shit out of him off the stage !!! Timeless masterpiece !!!!
Keef turns Telecaster into Louisville Slugger/Billy club and back again without blinking. They should run this vid in the dictionary next to the definition for the word "Cool." No words are needed.
No puedo entender como el documental "rio" de Duran Duran pudo haber sido considerado mejor que "lets spend the night together" en el año 83. Increible!!!

The guy came running from the right side of the stage turn around so Keith received him with his telecaster, and the guitar continue playing or sounding I guess is Ronnie while Keith struggle with the guy then Ronnie came from behind the drums but at the beginning of the song he’s not on the stage 🤔👏🤪
!:45 When Keith Makes it Clear You Dont Mess w Mick .,,,,,,, from Keiths Account the Memory of Lennon was Current to Mind and he was taking No Risks..... #StayOffMicksStage
É engraçado que tanto os Beatles quanto os Rolling Stones achavam que teriam uma curta carreira artística durando não mais do que três anos. Prova de que ninguém sabe nada.
first bunch of many balloons are dropped . at 1:42 Richards sees someone coming at him . He takes off his guitar to wield as a defensive weapon. kid tries to grab it from Keith but Keith holds on. And then you see another guy chase the kid who was charging and trying to take keith's guitar . HTF did that kid get up on stage ???
Thank you... I knew one day I would find somebody who can tell when something is staged 😭😂 how gullible people are when there heroes are involved.. they are mine to but I also know when I'm being lied to 😂
