Early 2014 gta online was nostalgic, it was a time when a million dollars was alot, the zentorno with sticky bombs was dangerous, the adder and the maze bank apartment made you feel like a rich baller, rooftop rumble was a great way of making money and the lazer can only be stolen from fort zancudo
Rooftop rumble and titan of the job was the best mission back to back. I never liked the adder. I alway had the entity xf and Z type. And first car in GTA was a Felon
@@PostTenebrasLux Albeit Generic, which I know it is, but it’s still true. I take it that you didn’t play GTA V Online, when it was on the PS3 and 360 or you’re a GTA V Online Modder on PC.
@@alexgee1151 I would call my Tank First to take out the guys in the parking garage then I would switch to my Adder to chance down their last vehicle lol🤣
You forgot to mention the mechanic use to actually bring you your car and then walk away. And you could have two of your cars out at once but only were able to access the most recent. And you can shot or run over your mechanic. Now that's real old school for you. 😅
I knew most of this only because i used to watch GTA videos from popular youtubers back in the day, but I started playing literally like a year ago lmao
10:14 is incorrect. Diving was in the game from day one, however the rebreather and scuba gear wasn't added until the heist update and doomsday heist respectively.
You could always dive underwater tho, there's early videos of GTA Online on the 360 and PS3 of people trying to find sharks in the ocean and others just going underwater at times
@@v_Falls_v there also is a story mission with michael and jimmy racing to the pier and jumping in the water, or i think monkey buisness where you dive with swimming suits to break into the merryweather facility underwater
i can confirm that rockstar support used to be super relaxed. In 2015 on the PS3, i remember submitting a ticket for a lost Roosevelt back when the Roosevelt was only available to purchase during Valentines Day. Needless to say, i had a new Roosevelt one day later sitting inside of my Alta street apartment garage. They didn't even check if i ever bought it.
Back then if you went in passive mode you din’t become transparent so you could just keep messing with people who went it passive mode Like you could kill them with the water from a fire truck. Fun times
I remember that there where modded bounties on the 360 where someone could put a 100 mil bounty on your head and the entire lobby would chase after you.
I think the gates at Fort Zancudo also weren't how they are know. If i remember they had this big gate that you also see at the airport so your only means of getting into Fort Zancudo was with the hill next to the highway. If you wanted to obtain a Rhino for free you needed to get a wanted level while being on the mountain next to the military base. Depending on how lucky you are the army will spawn outside the base with a Rhino and once you lost your wanted level you'd go and hijack the tank.
Oh I remember, back in 2013 we only had a max of 10 slots for cars, storing cop cars (or Pegasus vehicles), the mechanic actually driving your car to you instead of just appearing, the constant war outside of the Eclipse Towers apartment, spoilers on cars being purely cosmetic and not actually beneficial for racing, looking for the sultan (now you can pay 12k for one), actually going to gun store for ammo, doing boneyard survivals to level up shooting and get miniguns or other high level weapons, I can on but I'll stop here. Eventually we got 30 vehicle slots through the original heist update. And to expand on the heli blimps, since everything was just a blimp you'd never if someone was in a Rhino.
Remember the grind for rank 100 to get the rpg. The day after (thursday) they released the free homing launcher omg i was pissed off. 3 weeks of grinding rooftop and titan jobs. Or the time u could fly through your front window
We had fun stealing rhinos with bob and then release them. They always try find shortest path to get back into base. Also the prehistoric mk2 was the combo when one flied the bob and the other shot in air from the towed rhino cannons 😊 The Pier pressure mission was best way for starter players to get their staminas fulled up, by smacking all dudes on the beach without getting cops. Also, looting those npcs made an extra cash in end of mission.
A fond memory of mine from back in the day was doing the launch glitch by the lake in vinewood hills. One player would take cover next to the gate of a certain house, and another player would drive a vehicle into it and send it flying.
Back in my day, everyone dread the cargobob icons in the radar, because they usually came carrying a Rhino tank that at the time, it didn't have its own icon, just the generic dot. That's right, before the Opressor came out (let alone the Opressor Mk.II), that was the original griefer set-up.
Number 18 has never once happened to me, and I'm a true og player since gtao began on October 1st 2013. Never once lost a single car by driving into a full garage and not replac replacing a vehicle. Nor have I ever even heard of that happening to anyone else before
Sooooo One- The thing about the Zentorno is roughly correct, but details are wrong. Yes, people used to back up and kill you that way, but it was NOT by using stickies, it was usually the AP pistol or UZI. And it wasn't because people didn't have rpgs, they did, many of us did. Rather, it was because back then, there was no buying ammo through the interaction menu. You physically had to go to the gun stores and buy your ammo. But also, it wasn't just the Zentorno, it was that at first, until people started realizing and catching on that the Jester (the original) could also do it, all you had to do was equip the cover on the back of the car. Not only was the Zentorno $750k, but the Jester was only $250k, so cheaper, just as effective and efficient, and was still more than fast enough. Its also worth noting that cars didn't max out at $20k for insurance back then. If i recall correctly, it was up to $30k for some. So considering that the Zentorno was more expensive to buy and more expensive insurance, that's part of why the Jester was also widely used as an alternative. Two- Phone calls DO still work, you just have to be in gamechat. So for example, on xbox (what I'm on) if I'm in a party, it won't show up. If I go to gamechat, it will. I believe it also requires a Mic to be plugged in while in gamechat, but i could be wrong since I'm usually in a party. Three- The outfit thing is correct, however something to note is, there also used to only be 10 outfit slots, not 20. A welcomed change indeed. Four- You CAN hook a Khanjali, its just finnicky as hell to actually get hooked, and it doesn't lift well at all. Also, the rhino has been hookable forever, but has been changed a few fines. Like being able to be lifted fine, then being like the khanjali and insurgent where it just won't lift above 3 feet really, and then now again where it can. The not being able to was short lived, but it did exist. Five- you've always been able to dive underwater. Not sure where the idea that you couldn't, came from, but that's entirely false. Six- You wouldn't just warp back then, but you've always been able to jump off the mountain via the cable car area. Least for as long as I can remember, that's been a thing. Seven- A note about the C4 on the back of a player. Yes, you can still do it, however it used to be very powerful and nutty. Because back then, not only could you put in on a person's back, but you could actually have them go into someone's apartment, and it would still be attached. Meaning if someone wanted to kill someone who was inside, they could kill them anyways. You also used to be able to mess with it even more by using passive. The player being stuck to, could go passive and live through it. Had a lot of fun with that. Eight Yes, you had to deal with your car annoyingly, however back to my earlier part, the insurance wasn't just capped at $10k or $20k, it was capped at $30k on some cars.
Great video! Tons os nostalgia and memories. But I'd like to leave you some notes as a friendly subscriber. I am a day one player (10/01/2013) So here we go: Helicopter icon he showed is for your own vacant helicopter. Players in their own will show a spinning helicopter blade Contact missions used to pay the same no matter how long you took. R* changed it to pay more the longer you waited in order to nerf it. PS3 and 360 lobbies capped at 16 players You could always dive underwater. The ability to do so is even featured in the story mission "Daddy's Little Girl" when diving off the pier to swim to the yacht A parachute spawns at the top of Mt. Chilliad in the lift station and respawns every few minutes to help avoid getting stuck up there (this has always been the case). Dirt bikes and quads spawn by the lookout. Not sure if they still do 2013-2015 were tough times. Rhino was scary. It could take 8 rockets which most people didn't have and didn't have a custom icon. You just have a dot roll around the corner and you are toast. Lazers were god tier but rare. Rhino and buzzard were seen how the Opp. MK II and similar vehicles are seen today
@@v_Falls_vYou are likely confusing no water from San Andreas with GTA 5. GTA 5 had explorable water from the start… Would get eaten by great whites, etc. Although they did add more vegetation on the XOne/PS4.
The garage/windmill glitch at Eclipse Towers was fun. When it happened to me, the windmill was always horizontal and sent cars and pedestrians flying in all directions.
I remember when people actually used to play the last team standing missions because they were some of the easiest and most fun ways to make money. Now it is basically impossible to get at least 4 people in one of those.
I started playing again after being away quite awhile I have a zentarro and armoured Karan. I forgot about the bulletproof zentarro ass. 😂 it’s so crazy to think there’s new ppl playing this game 🎉🎉
I’ve found that the pier bait and switch still exists as something to do, just in an altered form. Just need to get the person into a Toreador/Stromberg long enough to get to a depth where drowning is basically guaranteed
Yinz remember when cop cars would actually patrol around the city when you didn’t have stars? I remember the many times I’d be speeding around and accidentally clip a cop car and get a wanted level
I'm pretty sure you could dive underwater back in the 360 days. I remember this because a really old glitch where you could walk underwater and never run out of air. Plus the ocean floor has always been detailed.
It’s funny to know that there are old players that know what OG GTA 5 was And in GTA universe many decades have passed So you could call them Old Heads that say Back in my day
The glitches from way back then were hours of free fun. Being able to park a Cargobob in your garage and invite your friends to see the chaos. And of course the good ol’ catapult glitches
I still have the Comet in my garage from literally day 1 of gta online (10/1/13). I didn't buy it, i stole it from an npc. Also someone mentioned this already but the mechanic used to physically drive your car to you
You were ALWAYS able to dive under water, since day one. The sea floor was always textured with plant life. It's featured in main missions in story mode.
11:14 take the parachute that Spawn in the cableway station and jump from one of the trellis and immediately deploy the chute. Then you basically paraglide all the way to Pelato bay, land near the fields close to the mechanic and call MMI.
Its crazy playing online now because so many people flip when I tell them online wasn't even out for the game when it came out. I miss how online used to be everyone was so cool and friendly I remember lobbys filling busses and driving around the maps with police
Forgot to mention the lobby limit was due to the game being hosted locally, by one of the players. That’s still the case today as well. If you have a laggy session, the host has a slow connection.
16:00 back in the days you could go to LS custom and pay to have the car rigged with explosives. There were 2 options : "Explotion on ignition" or "Explosion by remote". I do believe it was a GTA SA reference, anyway, I do also believe it is no longer available.
It's definitely still available, did that for a long time just to unlock a tattoo. My trick was to use a car that was a valuable and visible NPC vehicle, I often used a white Baller, insure it and place an ignition bomb. Than park it not to far from LS Customs, so people got in it to sell it...... boom, good times :) If you change session bomb was removed, probably still the case.
You’d sometimes get blown up in the elevator back in the 360 days. Also you forgot to mention ammo was supper expensive back then so you’d only buy ammo for certain guns you actually needed and ignore other weapons having rpg ammo was a luxury.
The phone call thing was soooo awesome on ps3 cuz if u went into a phone call nobody else could hear you so youd use the phone to hide plans from ppl. Or i remember one time i was in story mode and my friend called me and i answered as Franklin and was talking to him and he was like "get online" hahaha
I played since launch and people banding together to fight the one guy who stole a Rhino tank were some of my favorite times. Also grinder Coveted as well as Rooftop Rumble. I remembered when they got nerfed
I used to pick up newer players in my car and drive to an isolated area like the east ocean coast and change my vehicle preferences to ‘no passengers’ so it would force them out- similar to getting stuck on mt Chilead. It was a good initiation game to play on unsuspecting newbies. Haha
Used to be able to call for a taxi, as well, to come pick you up and fast track you to destinations if you were willing to pay the extra. Otherwise you just rode in the taxi in real time.
Windmills and weird stuff on the garages were due to modders. But i think they were placed for fun, not to annoy really. You cluld run towards the stacked windmills and they would launch you high in the air.
One thing you forgot to mention was the gate glitch at the cul-de-sac above the lake in vinewood hills. You could launch cars halfway across the map if done correctly. Rockstar patched it sometime in 2014 i believe, maybe even quicker. Look up video if youve never seen it, pretty nuts.
I remember when the rhino tank was the scariest vehicle in the game years before the oppressor came out and before they changed the icons you would have to look at the map and see how fast (or in this case slow) people were going to see if they were in a tank before going past them if you heard explosions.
I always stole a cab, picked up a fare and drove into the back side of the fort. When you finally got out near a jet the wanted level would engage. Easiest way to steal a jet.
I didnt start playing gta until 2016 but i didnt get xbox live gold until 2018 and didnt even get an xbox one until chrismas 2018 but I didnt really start playing gta online a lot until may 2019. I remember i just barely got into the window of the old casino
i LOVED the zentorno back then! Fastest land vehicle back then its weird because in the shoe store in story they were topless on x360 and ps3 but not in online
I remember when I played in 2020, 2021 when the Cayo Perico came out, I bought the Kostake but never knew that Cayo Perico the heist existed. Once I spent 100k on the Cayo Perico heist but never completed it, all I did was do the scope out, but I was like this is way too hard I was really nooby back then and I just quit and never did Cayo Perico until I started playing on a different account and started grinding, I just bought shark cards back then.
I remember when they added the homing launcher; man i was so mad at that lol. Ruined it for me doing sell mission in public lobbies. Now there is flying cars and opressors camping every location.
Wow so many memories, who remembers when we used to bring the duke 0 death over from single player, then rockstar got so fed up with people doing it that every time you got into the car and tried driving it , it would blow up in the end it was a cool clever thing they did , staying in races for over 4 minutes would give you 4,000 + rp and 10,000 in cast we used to race around the prison or make races around the horse track by the casino, I remember the first ever car dupe where you drove your car out the garage an upgraded elegy drive well away from your garage blow it up call Jonny to get it but also mors mutual so you had one delivery to yourself and one to your garage , all the stuff we could do back then was awesome so many little things were so much fun, Ive played from day one , well they released the game but you couldn’t play online for 2 weeks lol over 10 years , I was 47 when I started playing and I’ve made 19 different accounts which I still have , and I still play to this day , wicked game
Before the flight school update every mission gave fixed ammount of money. No matter how fast or slow you completed the mission it always gave you the same ammount of money. Coveted was the best mission to play over and over for money (the old version was way faster because you had to deliver the container to Madrazo's garage that was located behind the windmil area while the current version requires you to deliver the container in Cypress Flats) Here's a list of all the removed freemode events from old gen: Lester asking you to kill a random NPC with a bounty (he'll send you a notification through the job list on your phone and if you accept it there will be a red empty circle on the radar that even other players can see) Destroy smuggler planes and helicopters. Distract cops Grouppe sechs van Supply Crate drop. Strange light on Fort Zancudo's bunker. The mechanic delivered your cars in person. Car damage was way better and more visible (on current gen they removed the cabine damage due to the first person view that was absent on old gen). Dynasty 8 boards had a serious bug that resulted in them spawning infinitelly when more than 2 players were nearby (you could notice that something wrong was happening because frames dropped around 5 due to the insane ammount of boards spawning on the ground. Sometimes they were so much that the map couldn't load anymore and you could fall under the map). Dynasty 8 boards used to spawn in storymode too but only during few early missions then they disappear (before the release on old gen Rockstar promised that we would've been able to buy houses and properties in Singleplayer so that's probably a leftover of which properties we would've been able to buy if they released the storymode DLC). FIB Buffalo and FIB Granger spawning in the desert next to the "big ears". If you approached the FIB agents they'll tell you to leave and eventually start shooting at you. (On current gen they are replaced with a white Washington and a white van and FIB agents are gone). The Vespucci Beach sculpture used to look different. Before December 2013 there was a sculpture similiar to the real life one but the artist didn't want his sculpture featured in game so they changed it into that brown monsttosity that we have now). Before the heist update back on 2015 the luxury appartment's planning room was just a simple relax room with a computer, a n empty white wall with just an LS map and shelves with books, skateboards and guitars. After the release of "i'm not an hipster" update we had the "pure black" window tint that is completelly gone on current gen. American Export was a Lester mission that has been removed from current gen for unknown reasons (similiar to an already existing mission that requires to steal a cargobob from Fort Zancudo and hook a container at the docks). The Khamelion, Hot Knife, Carbon RS, cal.50 pistol, bulpup shotgun and hammer were a "collector's edition" exclusive. There is a song that used to be different on Radio mirror park ("A little white lie"). The old gen version was low pitched and slower than the current one. Planes also used to take off from the airport (on current gen you'll see them landing but not taking off anymore). There was a glitch that allowed you to get locked vehicles (like collector's edition vehicles) by glitching the search bar on internet. (If you tried to park a collector's edition vehicle in your garage without downloading the special DLC risulted in the game refusing to let you get in your garage or show those vehicles in your garage. The only way to get them was calling the mechanic). Completing a mission used to give players very rare vehicles like the Stinger GT, Cheetah or any other supercar instead of the classic civilian cars like the Asterope or Granger that we get nowadays. You were able to customize the Sheriff SUV in any LSC (the function was clearly unfinished since color names were displayed as "paintjob 1, paintjob 2, paintjob 3 etc...)
They could have players doing transit bus driver missions demi truck driver missions postal worker delivery missions. Operating misanry airline pilot missions delivering passengers and so on I believe these would be great updates for the the future just a few idea's, I wonder if other people gave these idea's any thought.
Back in 2016 i used to do the armored karuma and pacific standard with some Canadian friends on ps4, basically where you oarl the bikes in the setup is near a personal garage. Fun times it was, i think it was patched within that year i think too
a couple of these are incorrect. strippers were topless in ps3/xbox 360 versions. you could dive underwater in ps3/xbox 360 versions. there wasnt a special icon for planes, everything was a dot
12:11 this happened to me, lost my oppressor MKII a couple years back after "placing" it in a full garage. Thankfully the Cayo heist was pretty OP back then and the oppressor wasn't that expensive
Also Im not sure how true that diving underwater statement is because I vividly remember the submarine spawning on the eastern side of the map and me and my friends attempting to steal it from one another on ps3
Thanks! I had comments but i was just adding! I really liked this video! I been around since day one and never cheated. Missed out on years of gameplay online for internet or other reasons but I know exactly what to do and how to play and not waste my time. I don’t have billions of dollars but i have over 100million and I own everything except a few clothing items i want to be able to say i own. Dog fights were the best and they need to bring those adversary jobs back!
God I remember doing the longer time missions back in the day… I would start a playlist and have a timer on my phone.. I would do 12 minutes because I could do more missions and in return get more money.. damn it was simpler times back then
10:33 yes you could, by buying a rebreather and stocking up on breathing filters and if my memory serves me correctly used to be 10 filters each lasting around 3 minutes
Free roam lobbies used to be less toxic, but there was also a lot less to do. Helicopter and jet griefers had to have more skill as missiles didn't lock onto ground vehicles and you actually had to be good with vehicle machine guns. The tank was absolutely unkillable unless you had a high level player that unlocked the RPG already. Nowadays you can't drive a city block without a beta-male trying to kill you in an oppressor or deluxo.
