I think it was because people expected Eddie and Martin’s version of Stir Crazy but got their version of the Shawshank Redemption. Nonetheless a very under appreciated movie.
@@ChrisC11291980 The Shawshank Redemption was a box-office dud, but later on it became a big hit on video. I wonder why the same didn't happen for Life.
@@Idolstarcynderdon’t backtrack. Ray and Claude were convicted of a crime, so by your logic they deserved everything they got. Your dumb logic is the main issue here.

I was looking at 91+ years and I'm grateful to have won my case. I remebered sitting in the jail cell losing track of time, lost in my mind, hoping for someway to let my voice be heard. I lost everything, my family, my home, my job and my soul. I kept fighting and I won my case! not a day goes by I don't sing this....😞
Imagine all the men around the world not just black men. I know they've had struggles but so have us Irish gypsies/travellers, serbian people and the native people of America and the aborigines of Australia so for all the men and women who are poor fighting the rich mans system.
Tete100 4life I think it was a heart attack. Think about it his last movie was “You Got Served” in 2004. Isn’t it strange nobody in the media spoke about his death?
Tete100 4life I even think him and Martin was close cause he was with him on Bad Boys in the beginning of the movie to Life. He was no more than in his late 30’s I think. Maybe younger than that 💯
This always was and it never stopped being my favorite Eddie Murphy movie. This hit hard for with me and my friends in grade school, and it has never stopped being the movie we quote most over FRIDAY.
It's also sad their whole lives been tooken away, never was able to find a woman, settle down and have kids (though Claude's ole girl left him when he was in there and was suppose to help him get out but never did and moved on) nor just have a normal life period. I shed a tear and cried when most of the guys who was in there with Ray and Claude fade away as the years went by and the world changed. Sometimes when you young you really wonder will you be able to see ya'self get old. I tell ya man I wonder for myself...some of us don't live and get to see and be adults.
I agree with you man, their whole situation was fucked up...they were framed by a corrupt sheriff and spent 40 years in jail. Almost all of the friends they made ended up passing away. The world changed as time went on...and they not only missed out on historic events, but missed out on things people these days take for granted...sleeping in on mornings, going out to movies, eating pizza, having a family, playing with their kids (if they ever had any) so many things they never had the chance to do. That's why these days people should appreciate what they have...because you never know if it can all change tomorrow.
Wait a minute? The big guy passed away too? Damn...it's no wonder I haven't seen him in anymore movies after You Got Served.. I seen him in Bad Boys with Martin and Will Smith
It's really something, most people think this is a comedy but when you think of it it's a really sad movie, they spent 65 years of there life in prison for a crime they didn't commit.
right like many people forget these movies were and are still very real. I'm sure back in the days we all know the south was a crazy place to be and live in.. We should all know this by just looking up and reviewing our history.. nothing was fake about this movie many lessons come from this!
The world won't get no better, if we just let it be nah nah nah nah nah nah! My favorite part of the song. Real shit, they don't even make movies like this anymore. #classic
Till this day in the year 2021.. people still really don't understand how hard it is to be a black man in a society where the deck has always been stacked against yu
Someone who actually agrees with me, I do not for the life of me, know why this track was not released, and it's indicative of great music that never gets the exposure it deserves, and gets away from people like myself, who need unadulterated good, soulful music, and I think everything in the opening sequence of this film is inch perfect, even down to the 'imagine' credit and the way it rolls into the track. Your decision to upload this segment of the film is commendable, well done bro. Peace.
Ik why it gets no recognition. Bc my generation has no taste of REAL music and just wants the "new" stuff that sounds even more thuggish then back then. I dont rlly like rap, but if i find something good like this I'll take it. At least 80s and early 90s rap was given thought. Now it's almost ALL autotune, and sloppy lyrics. If someone ain't good at singing don't let them sing. Just sell ur song and have someone else sing it, bc ur fans will be pretty disappointed when they find that voice on the track is better then ur ACTUAL voice. It's all about "New", it's all about trend. Always has been and always will be. Unfortunate but true. idk why people can't just be their fucking self once in awhile.
I am in love with this movie.doesn't anyone else think it's amazing that Rick James was in it. His only movie movie! That makes it even more special to me.
doubleb26 ! That’s why as we young we really wonder if we will get to grandmas or grandpas age. My grandma died at 70, I be thinking I ain’t gonna get to 50. Cause everybody passing so young these days 😞.
Me and friend used to always recite the lines from this movie that made us laugh. He was my only friend that saw this now he gone movie never gonna be same rip ste

+BL4CK5M1TH I love this movie so much! The fact that it was a real team effort from funny comedians and great actors! R.I.P. Bernie Mac, Rick James and Heavy D
Ok good people, this track has long, long been close to my heart so here are the facts, the song does indeed use the same backing track as XZ's & Jah Rule's '25 To Life' and it's title is 'Wake Up Everybody', it was written in the main by McFadden & Whitehead of' 'Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now' fame, was produced in part by Wycleff Jean, and is sung by a little known artist named Robby Pardlo. Hope this moves to eliminate the confusion that seems to have arisen from this track. 1 love 2 all.
Our Brothers tried to Message us "To Wake Up", but we just took it as another excellent video/number 😡😓😢😥😭😰😡 Are we ever gonna wake up AND SEPARATE ???
