Ok this tip is definitely not for everyone, but if you can, start early!!! I’m 23 and have been saving at lease $400 a month from my paycheck since I was 15. I also recommend if you can, live with your parents as long as possible. When you do move out, get a couple roommates to split the cost of living. When you’re young, you don’t need a massive space to yourself!

i'm 17 and i save all my money bc i don't have to paid anything, i live with my family and they give me all what i need, i've been working for like 2 years and i have saved a considerable amount of money, that makes me very happy! My dream is buy a house and renovate then rent it, save more money from my job and of the house rental and do the same until I have my real estate business :) ~ i'm sorry, english is not my first language but i can understand most, i love spend my time watching this kind of videos, they motivate me!

I think eating out is also more unhealthy. When you prepare your food you can control the ingredients and how much oil etc. is added.

I’m 49 my husband 54, we are both retired with over $4 million in net worth. Currently I’m living smart and frugal with our money. Saving and investing lifestyle made it possible for us this early.

Tracking your spending really is eye opening. I thought I had a good handle on my money but when I actually created a budget and tracked my spending I saw how much I wasted on unnecessary purchases.

We paid off $70k in student and vehicle debt using a variety of tactics: the snowball method, having one car, not shopping as much and buying second hand, not eating out very often, selling a few things, and planning out the year's budget in advance, in combination with also gradually increasing our income through promotions/raises at work. Now we are debt-free and saving up for a down payment on a house using the same strategy.

I am 19 and started working november of 2019. Now while in quarantine I looked back and saw that I did not have any money saved even though I worked for 8 months already! I did not purchased like a car or new cellphone in which the majority of the money could go to. So all I did was to spend my money on things that nowadays do not bring me any sense of achievement or acquisition. Loved the video and I will definitely put them to work! Thank you ❤

Whats crazy is i've lived my whole life based on your tips. Growing up with my single mom, 3 brothers and sister we had to make everything stretch just to get by. When you have no other choice but to use everything to the full, only have 7-8 outfits for school, one pair of shoes that lasted 2 years, ONLY home cooked meals basically nothing fancy. Growing up like this really makes you appreciate little things and how far they can go. One of the best feelings now as an adult is going to the grocery and spoiling myself with foods i've never had. I'm humble for everything that's happened in my life and i wish more people would follow a lifestyle like this. I promise you'll still be happy with what you have just make the sacrifices. Whenever I hear someone say that you should invest in quality to save money in the long run, I think of something my great grandfather apparently used to say: We can’t afford to buy junk. This is more true than ever. For the sake of our minds, the environment, our future.

We always just donate; I don't want to deal with the headache of selling. Also, once I buy something, in accounting terms it's already a 'sunk cost' so donating it feels better than trying to sell.

Joined the Navy at 18 with 7k in the bank. I did janitorial and smoked a lot of pot in high school. Left the Navy after months with 32k in the bank. Invested 29k in the S&P in late 90. Started working at UPS, Exide Battery and did concrete on Saturdays. Invested 1k a month every month into it, Cashed out 250k from the S&P and invested with my Financial advisor Lucy Maria Koss. Cashed out and Semi retired at 31. Took a year off. Traveled. Came home and started working part time for the insurance, entertainment and pocket change. Work isn't work when you don't have to work. Becoming wealthy can be done in few years. It feels like 60hr work weeks. Feel the pain of discipline early or feel the pain of regret later. I wish everyone well!

The key of not being poor is the ability to save no matter the amount of money you save.

Love your tips. I've been doing almost all of these and the results are amazing and so worth it . My family is completely debt free (house too and $ saved for my kids college). Three tips I would suggest have really helped my family, 1. shop off season (bought my kids clothing for the next season for little to nothing, 2. Food inventory sheet (I update this monthly so that when I grocery shop I only buy what I need, this decreased my grocery bill by 75 to 100 a week for a family of 5 and 3. Meal planning for the week. Eating out was a celebration mostly. Young lady you have a new subscriber here and I will be telling folks about you!!!!

Love this video! So critical for me right now as I'm trying to do a no spend 6mths 😬 I just downloaded a money managing app to monitor spending and wow, my mind was blown. It's funny how we reason some household items that are "needed" when really we could have happily lasted without. However, for me, saving first is the ULTIMATE tip here! You can think and wait on more stuff with this tip. For me, I normally want to hit a certain point in my savings that month and I rather see that grow than collect more objects or buy more expensive food for eg. Also make sure to spend that money on your life that matters to you so you feel fulfilled 💗

After a terrible 2022, shell-shocked financial backers have a lot to think about and losses to recover from. An expansion report and a wealth of other data did little to alter assumptions that the Central bank would likely keep raising interest rates regardless of whether the economy slows down. This implies that portfolios will experience more losses during the first quarter of 2023. I'm currently at a crossroads deciding whether to exchange my $250k security/stock portfolio; how might the continuous market volatility work to my advantage?

Wow! Excellent list, sis! The "wait 24 hours before buying" is small but EFFECTIVE! I was going to buy $60 worth of Bath and Body Works products but waited until the next day and realized it would not be good for my savings!

That’s an awesome suggestion when it comes to only owning one. For most items we have back ups and this is a great tip keep up the great work!

I totally agree with travelling in nature instead of cities! I've roadtripped the country and mostly car camped and occasionally paid for a campsite for over a month on two separate occasions. 5 weeks of travel costed about $2,500, and we went to every state in the west and every national park, and most of the national forests.

My number one spender is eating out, me and my husband enjoy trying new things so much that it gets out of control quickly. But we are working on gradually reducing it.

I have a journal that I track every penny I've spent so I hold myself accountable. Minimalism has helped me have time to start a business too so I'm saving money while making money.

Amazing video! It’s crazy how many things you can do but you never really think about it! I have always had A LOT of things because I kept telling myself that one day I would use. Selling all those things really helped a lot! Another big thing for me was eating at home. Eating out becomes soooo expensive!! And you don’t even know what’s in your food! Now, I only try eating out as a treat lol

This is great advice! I already use some of these tips, but I finally paid off the last of my debt early this year (debt free for the first time since high school!), so I'll be starting to put some more of these habits into play.

I’m happy for you that you started young. Neither of my parents taught me anything about anything let alone persona finance so it wasn’t until I was literally starving and begging for money (even though I had 3 minimum wage or less jobs) that I started seeking personal finance education. I left my apartment for one $300 less so I could eat. Wish I’d learned sooner!

Thrift stores are AMAZING. I’ve stopped buying brand new clothes. You can get jeans and vintage furs from $1-$5, I save so much from going to goodwill bins, half off Wednesday’s at the Salvation Army, and discount days at Value Village

Don't be put off by the amount in the title. Start small and it will start adding up. The key is to be disciplined, be patient and stay positive. Also when you do feel like treating yourself, don't splurge and undo all your hard work. Shop around, I needed a new raincoat, found one I liked, then had a little search online and found it 1/2 the price on a different web site. Also there are separate things to save for like birthdays and Christmas. I find that by allotting a certain amount separately each month really helps me to stay within a budget. Some months will spend more and others none so it usually balances out in the end. I work out how many people I'm buying for in the year, what I'd spend then divide that amount by 12. It's not perfect but it sure makes it easier for me.

Since lockdown I have mastered two tips that she mentioned here before seeing this video. Try owning only one of a product and use to the max what you have. From nail polish, to hair and body products I have several. Yet I want to purchase another brand. With this unemployment I said stop buying and clean out your storage using everything to the max. It is not easy since there are other colors or qualities that you may want. But I am determined to make most of my stock work for me. And that includes eating the majority or all of the food in my home first before I buy more. Also making sure that I eat before grocery shopping.

Thank you so very much for this video. I'm planning to buy a duplex next year with a program, live in one side and rent out the other. Typically in FL mortgages are much lower than the rent so I'll make a profit and can expedite the mortgage. Also I want to start an organization some time next year as well. But I gotta pay some things off first and save. So these were very helpful tips!

I love these ideas, Ashlynne! I especially agree with buying things secondhand as most things within that category will cost less than if you were to get it brand new. One thing that I've been doing since turning 18 is putting extra $ from savings into a retirement account, and I know this will benefit me in the far off future. :)

Hi Ashlynne! A couple of tricks I do to save money is when I am almost out of tooth paste, I will cut the tube in half and scrape out whatever is left in both ends. Also when I am almost out of face wash, shampoo or conditioner, I will just fill it half way with water and shake it up so I can get as much out of the bottle as I can! Just wanted to share that! Tip # 1 for saving your money, start paying cash for your purchases, if you can't pay cash don't buy it.

Truth! I am a recovering hoarder, so have way more than 1 of thousands of things. A few months ago, I had to tally up how many black skirts and black dresses I actually own. My particular dilemma of not knowing how many black skirts and black dresses I actually own is because I had 3 homes. One on the East Coast of the USA, and one on the West Coast, and one in the country of Qatar. Naturally when you're flying between homes, one tends to simply purchase more of the things they use or need instead of carrying things with them everytime they visit their homes. Since I wanted to be sure I had everything I needed or used in every location, I simply purchased an few for that home. I actually have over 25 black skirts and black dresses. Things changed up a bit for me and I was able to get ride of my West Coast property in 2018. I gave away or sold what I didn't need or want and moved everything else to my bonus room in the basement of my East Coast property. I freed up that monthly mortgage payment, as well as the payments for those utility bills. I also went on a NO SHOPPING FOR CLOTHING CAMPAIGN...LOL! I honestly don't need to purchase another single thing, so have been diligent in my efforts to cease needless spending and utilize more of what I already own. Since I live 10 months out of the year in the Middle East, I just switch up clothing from my own closets whenever I'm back stateside. Jewellery (especially costume jewellery) is another area I don't need another piece of...LOL I literally have enough jewellery to fill a small closet, so have been very intentional of not spending money on these things. I've also been slowly going through what I do own and am giving pieces or sets away to friends or to their children. I never had kids, so when you're a working professional with a fairly decent salary, you find that you spend way too much on yourself and discover some 20 years later, that you just have way more than you'll ever need. The pandemic situation going on right now also allowed me to save money on nail and hair salon services. Since these places were closed anyway, I used those funds towards paying down debt or just simply saved it.
