I prefer leather soft to bonded leather as it lasts better.

I like the font and line spacing in older one much better.

I used to work at a Family Christian Bookstore in the early 2000s. The red one brings back a lot of memories.

I have an old NKJV compact that I got back in 07 that has the identical preface, introductions, and layout, but the print is so tiny the pagination doesn't match. It's pretty beat up, but still is holding together. 😊

Growing up in the 50s and 60s sometimes there was only one Bible in the family so the family tree pages were more important. Then, when you were confirmed or baptized (usually pre teen to early teen) you got your first “real Bible” and use used that one maybe forever. Now have several bibles. Many have multiple bibles.

I got hooked up into physical bibles bec i stumbled on the NKJV Ultrathin video just 2-3 months ago; (I got the ESV church bible in India, it's excellent, not printed in India anymore). However, I hate the red letter, so there is no option for a person like myself, bec there's no black letter edition; Why are they wasting cost on the red letter even in the value edition?. Text size 9 is unnecessary, it could've been 8, and of course, they should include a concordance, and short introduction, and should also launch a ref edition with that.

I had one close to that old one… red genuine leather and center column references… and no section intros. That was the first NKJV I read all the way through. Pulled it out a few months ago, and what I most noticed is how the type got so much smaller over time. 😂 Compared to the full size Quentel I read now, the old ultra thinline is like reading all footnotes. 🔍

Ideally, the KJV updated editions like NKJV should contain the key info of the original KJV preface that warned against idolatry of the bible, stating that it's a human work, and the bible is not a definite certain fixed text. But, they seems to be removing the preface altogether in the obsession for thinline. I dont understand the over focus on thinness that they dont include basic things, and the crossway has even basically stopped their value reference editions; there is hardly any cheap edition which comes with concordance and intro with thinline.

Other new editions of the NKJV still print the complete preface. I suppose they're trying to cut as many pages as possible with this thinline edition.

What about the New King James Version? A lot of people believe that the NKJV comes the closest to the KJV but even if this is true it has thousands of differences and is not even worthy of publication. The following are excerpts from David W. Daniels’ book ‘New King James: The Bridge Bible’: 2nd Samuel 12:31 (KJV)-“made them pass through the brickklin.”[get burnt] 2nd Samuel 12:31 (NKJV)-“cross over to the brick works.”[get to work] 2nd Samuel 14:14 (KJV)-“neither doth God respect any person.”[God impartial] 2nd Samuel 14:14 (NKJV)-“God does not take away life.”[God won’t kill] 1st Chronicles 20:3 (KJV)-“cut them with saws”[Tortured] 1st Chronicles 20:3 (NKJV)-“put them to work with saws.”[Employed] Proverbs 18:8 (KJV)-“The words of a talebearer are as wounds.”[Painful] Proverbs 18:8 (NKJV)-“The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles.”[Yummy] Isaiah 9:3 (KJV)-“and not increased with joy.”[couldn’t be more joyful] Isaiah 9:3 (NKJV)-“and increased its joy.”[could be more joyful] [Unbelief and Disobedience are different: Romans 11:30 (KJV)-“For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief.” Romans 11:30 (NKJV)-“For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience.”] Philippians 2:16 (KJV)-“Holding forth the word of life.”[Getting it out] Philippians 2:16 (NKJV)-“Holding fast the word of life.”[Holding it]

“Not even worthy of publication” what a prideful and ridiculous statement worthy of repentance. How many souls has it helped, can you count them? Christianity has enough Pharisees and Scribes

@@Dirkkkkk Revelation 22:18-19, “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

The NKJV changed the truth of God's holy Word into a lie! (Proverbs 18:1). It is of the Devil!

A sinful thought. Do you read koine Greek. Are you a translation scholar who has compared ancient texts? PRIDE… Don’t make a Bible edited to please a wicked and sinful English king your idol. Does the Lord not see the heart? The letter has always been the problem
