25 years of ITV UK Wrestling special - 1980 

Great days, when British wrestling was at its peak. Used to love going to my local hall to watch the wrestling in the 80s and early 90s

My childhood was Saturdays at 4pm watching wrestling with my Grandma lol awesome times 💥

Brings back so many memories of my grandparents glued to TV on Saturday Afternoons to watch the wrestling.

If this was nowadays, there would be 1000 adverts in between those first two matches

Different times great entertainment. Use to sell out our city hall from the 50’s all the way up to mid 80’s.

Good grief. I didn't realise straight away that was David Smith. Later became the British Bulldogs with the name Davey Boy Smith

40 years ago and so many wrestlers have now passed away. Even Young David died in 2002 aged only 39. He started off skinny as hell and ended up bloated by steroids. Refs Dave Reece and Jeff Kaye have also gone. King Ben (not Benn!) was Ben Boothman who's son was Mark 'Kid' McCoy. His bout should have decided by the ref on points.

Those were the days. They were using mechanical typewriters.

Typical ITV World of Sport...trying hard to make something recorded look "live". But even as a kid of 8 I knew it wasn't kosher. Loved it of course, and Cup Final Day was a real national event in those days, not the joke it has become now.

Some wrestlers had glass backs when it came to the Boston Crab. I loved seeing Jim Breaks get beat.
