25 YEARS of Running Shoe Evolution - ASICS Gel-Cumulus 1 vs. 26 (1999 vs. 2024)

I recently acquired the first generation of Asics' world-famous Gel-Cumulus. This shoe was made in 1999 (the last MILLENIUM) so let's see how it stacks up against it's great descendent, the Gel-Cumulus 26 in 2024!
This shoe means a lot to me because I wore it all throughout my career in school. I was very fortunate to acquire it in the condition I did at the price I did.

I ended up reaching out to Asics and got some more info about the original Cumulus that I thought I'd share here. Naturally, because I got the info this morning, this is not all included in the video because its been up for days. Their response: "The Cumulus 1 was an EVA / Durasponge midsole, weighed 330gram with GEL in the front and rear. Unfortunately, pitch heights were not discussed back when this was released so we do not have that information." Hope you enjoyed and thanks for watching!

Regarding the Alpha Fly Shoe incident, if i spend that much on a pair of shoes you can be sure im wearing them out, rather then have them sit in a box on a shelf

You should wear them out for a race not to a restaurant. That’s like taking a Ferrari to haul lumber. It’s sacrilegious.

@@zachsalek haha I enjoy them. I definitely didn’t get the type of training to give it a good hard send for the time I had envisioned, but still going to get it done. Your race date is sneaking up as well, how ya feeling?

@codywaters91 if I was going to school like you there’s no way I’d be able to juggle both. Training is going well so far and I’m staying healthy. Going hard this week and next week and tapering afterwards. Are you considering the 10k at hell hath?
