We take the 2023 Husqvarna FC 250, FC 350, and FC 450 four strokes and put them head-to-head with laptimes to see which is fastest. Who won? MB01H7NBSQPOHUI
Please....do a combined lap time comparison. What is the total time it took to do 7 laps on each? It is easy to throwdown a heater lap but, the combined lap total is what helps determine place at the end of a race. Still waiting for someone to show that.....but, thank you again for this vid. Very interested.
Exactly, most ppl can hang on for one fast lap on a 450, but what about lap 5 then 10. Let's see the lap times for each lap and see what drop off there is when you start to get tired
Jasom M. over at MXA was 2-3sec. laps faster at Glen Helen on the GAGAS MC 30, over the 450 and 250... Nationals should bail on the 450 and run those as 350's.
@@A-aron89 only because he said the early 450's were too brutal in the way they hit, once the 450's smoothed their power out he ditched the 350 for a 450 again
@tcmx712 So how is a 350 a bad thing then? According to you, Antonio Cairoli was beating faster 450's than today then. I'm sure you realize the GP's are FULL works bikes. Free to do ANY mods the factory desires. They can tune for any power characteristic they want. The 350 handles like a 250 & is just shy of a 450 in peak power.
I try to tell every how much more enjoyable/fun/fast the 350 is… I won’t ride anything else. Glad you made this vid. Only problem now is I’m going to have a harder time finding new models available haha
I got a 350 ktm with cone valve suspention and a vortex ECU , i race it in the open class and got the hole shot , so much power and handling, best bike ive ever had.
Looking really forward to a similar test on a more open Glen Helen style track. Would be really interesting to compare the newer FC and SXF to the new '23 GG MC with the previous gen motor and chassis as well. May be opening a can of worm based on the differences but especially when factoring in the 250 and 350, which lets be honest, probably really are the better choices for most vet's and weekend warriors, I think it would be an enlightening and informative video.
I think doing an annual "mega test" like the Car and Driver Lightning Lap would be amazing. Compare everything on one day at one track and do it at the same track every year. This would provide something that is comparatively lacking in moto, which is data versus almost exclusively subjective information.
1) KTM 300SX vs KTM 350SX-F vs KTM 450SX-F. 2) 250 2 stroke vs 250 4 stroke and this might be worth doing with all the brands that make 250s two or 4 stroke.
no one talks about how the Husky being 10 mm lower in the suspension hardware front and rear, in reality in makes the whole bike 1 inch lower, which is a big deal when guys need a lower platform. on the flip side, big or tall guys are bummed out when they get one uninformed and have issues in ruts etc.
I would like to see a 350 ktm or husky with maybe just pipe and suspension work versus a CRF/KX/YZ built 250 with hi compression piston, head work, pipe with suspension mods. Because that is where I am at, I’m a vet rider and don’t mind building up a bike. Thanks for doing these. 👊🏻
I've just switched to a ktm 250 4t with the mentioned mods and I'd take it over a 350 amd the 450 I had before. I'll admit sometimes (not very often though) you have to knock it down a gear more in the corners but if you get someone who knows how to map it well you can still get the ktm to bark down low
There's no regulation stopping a team from opting for a 350 (in the 450 class) on certain tracks. It would be nice if all manufacturers produced a 350, particularly Yamaha!
Tony Cairoli used to win MXGP motos on a 350. He only switched back to the 450 because he was giving up too much on the start when the competition got faster
Tony hardly ever rode a 450 he had a 350 then I believe went to a 390 then in the end settled on a 410 it's mxgp they are not stuck with what the manufacturers make to sell
No one ever wants to admit the 350 is generally the better compromise. I think the Nationals should go to 150cc for what used to be the 125 class and 350’s for the main class, maybe have another open class again for the big bikes….; actually, what we should do is go back to 125-250-open classes, with no handicap on the two strokes. Their (two strokes) superiority has largely been bridged by technology. No need for it anymore. I think 125 four strokes tuned to the hilt would sound pretty bitchin’….
This could be a new thing on a 350 for super motocross Michael Lindsay 250 450 combined, be good to see , they seem like the best bike not too fast not too slow according to this
I hope you re’rack this setup at glen Helen, would love to see those lap time differences . I owned a 350sxf. I sold my 350sxf after riding an 08 Honda crf450. 350 is a Good bike but felt like it needed a tad more. If ktm scrapped the 350 and made it somewhere around 390-400cc they’d be the perfect bike in my opinion
08 CRF450 had a great engine it felt a big big bike to which I liked. I currently have a 23 Ktm 350 it’s got alot more bottom to mid than the previous engined 350.
KTM250SX vs KTM300SX vs KTM350SXF two smokers and a 4-puker at Glen Helen on the National Track and the REM Track. In addition, KTM125SX vs KTM150SX vs YZ250 on the National and REM Tracks.
Always liked 450 s and still do but bought a 350 a while back ,they really are the goldylocks zone for someone like me = old ,bigger ,and average ability.👍
if you read/watch all the shootouts the first two years after they lowered the Husky's, the bikes were either placed first or nearly last, due to the extremes around this topic. short guys and vets just loved it. where as other shootouts with bigger guys said it was useless and put it down the list.
I really think racing would be better at the top level, and riders at lower levels would benefit from the displacements changing to 200 and 350. I think this would help stop riders from relying on pure horsepower. I know it won't happen, but it would be cool.
it helps, but you can never get rid of the heavier feel due to more rotating mass. remember in the old days we thought 500 2 strokes were so heavy but they were no mora than the eventual 250F. later we learned the feeling was partly from the spinning mass and gyro effect. they don't want to turn. same stuff is true with the new bikes.
A 250 would be more confidence inspiring as it's easier to manage and doesn't beat you up nearly as much. The only benefit I can see from a 450 would be you can relax a bit making certain jumps as you don't have to ring it out or be in the perfect gear coming out of corners.
Fitness isn’t always determined by someone who is skinny. Motocross requires that you be able to race at a heart rate of 195-200 beats per minute for 30-45 minutes and not be in an anaerobic state.
My 350 has the perfect amount of power to make me look like I know how to ride. The Japanese manufacturers best get on the wagon or they will be left behind.
I keep hearing about more power, But on paper it’s still the same 54hp for the 450, But I seen the 2024 Ktm and Husky will be 64hp which is absolutely nuts, 450 class is about to get wild asf 😅
The 450s have been tuned for broad and useable power rather than peak HP.. The 350s are revving higher and have a narrower useable powerband. It's like how a 125 two stroke can pump out 35hp while a 500 is making 60hp, they're going for rideability after a certain point.
I can never understand the purpose of 450s.. noone can go faster with them... even the ama nationals differences between built 250s and 450s are so small... useless engines at all.... and with no racing feeling... like you ride an yami XT
