False representation of the Vajrayana. Jayasaro is correct. The monks do not practice this form of Vajrayana. As for the greater and lesser vehicles. The ONLY difference is the motivation of the practitioner. Lorde Buddha was motivated by compassion for all living beings. This is the Mahayana path. Those that seek liberation from suffering, and have not developed great compassion, are taking the lesser path. There are both types of practitioners in all traditions.
That greater and lesser vehicles (hinayana and mahayana) is propaganda created by later schools of Buddhism, in the actual original doctrine of Buddhism (the Pali Canon) there is no liberation of suffering (Nibbana) without development of the most sincere, deepest, and greatest compassion. The four Brahma Viharas pervade the entire practice. There is no higher or lower path, the Buddha taught only one path, the eight-fold path.
