VMan awarded me a pic of the DeLorean from back to the future for being first last year hahaha. As for this image I have a SanDisk on the way from amazon. I was too late to cancel my order. Do you think I should order a Samsung or a 400gb card?
@@hoganzeros3572 - Dont mess with Sandisk, you will have problems. Always, always get Samsung EVO U3 cards. Fast fast fast and hold all the data fine. I've used my 256 EVO over and over without any problems. Be sure to burn 256 image on USB 3.0 or higher or it will take forever to transfer the data. Samsung EVO U3 cards FTW period. :)
@@retro-junkie5741 hmm. My laptop has a built in card reader I use to burn images. Are you saying it may by better to use a usb adapter to burn it on a card?
@@hoganzeros3572 - Try the laptop reader, though I know Vman doesn't recommend. But if your laptop is "new enough" and at least v3.0 speeds, your good. I use external USB reader from Rocketek. Works dope af.
@@hoganzeros3572 oh dear im in this boat too, i have a sandisk 400gb sd card on its way from amazon, i bought because i wanted a card bigger than the image so i can add any extra games i want and still have lots of space to run my raspberry pi and i cant afford bigger samsung card!
been away for a while but i do check in once in a while .. thanks for keeping the site up ;> I had to delete all my channels too much crap and find the good ones again peace
Thanks for the video. Quick question: instead of a SD card, can you load the image to boot off a portable hard drive? I have an extra one that is 1 TB and was just wondering. Thanks
So in considering this image, do I in fact need the one sd card that vman recommends? Also I noticed on the Amazon page the same card comes in a larger size, any problems if I got a larger size SD card or no?
After spending about 3 months setting up and perfecting Kodi on my Pi, I will now start to do something similar with about 13k games - I have about 350 gigs free on my 1tb hard drive.
Might be a Big ask, but if All image maker's could use the cheapest smallest card for their Final image, then more than likely it will fit Everything, No Prob's
I don't create any images, but it seems like if you put all that hard work into getting an image produced, you would not want to use a cheap card, because then you will run into all sorts of failures, and inevitably it would be blamed on the creator of the image. I don't mind spending a little extra money for a good quality card that is going to last a while. Hell when Doom 1st came out for the PC I think I paid something like 45,00 bucks for it. It was on about 8 floppy discs that you had to install one by one. LOL. 45 bucks for 1 game!!!
Damn this looks cool I will like to buy it lmao nice video drew wish you the best this year I wish I could add this to the dreamcade device any possibility that could happen adding this to it?
Great stuff man, I really appreciate your videos. Thanks a lot. Here's a thought though: why keep putting Dreamcast and N64 there if it's going to run like crap? Scrape it off and don't run into size issues...
I'm sorry, but most of the dreamcast games and N64 games are really playable on a 3B+. Just have sometimes to change the emulator before running it, to try the best N64 one for your game, then it will be remembered. We're having great time here playing smash bors, pokemon N64, 1080, etc... + the dreamcast games are smooth too, just the videos intro might have glitches in the sound but games play well. And if you follow the instructions -> no problems for using this image. get a REAL samsung evo and it burns fine, or pishrink the image.
My friend VMan dont think he meant this image is Pi4 ready but n64 and other sets that dont run well here are ready for when a more powerful pi4 comes out (when). Depending on its SoC it might be backwards compatible might not...
You recommend this sd card up top, Samsung 256GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME256GA/AM) Is this proven to fit his image on? As I have a new 256gb card that’s not big enough! I’m ready to buy on your recommendation, so will this one work?
Looks like a great image. Actually the PlayStation Classic failed because many of the game it comes in are in PAL version, and run terribly. Also it does not come with most of the best games we all grew up with and loved. Whoever marketed that console probably lost their job. You are right, the RP is the better way to go.
This will sound dumb or elitist...Is it possible to use mouse and keyboard for these emulators? I'm familiar with zsnes and similar emulators and those allowed for full customization of keybindings. Reason I ask as I'm disabled gamer and only way I can play majority of games is by using Razer Naga + Stinkyboard(footboard windows identifies as HID device) Thank you for this video highlighting this guy's amazing work!
I have a question...I have this image on my arcade 1 up cab...luv playing the old school arcade games with the joystick and buttons. BUT...if i want to play the playstation games or nintendo 64 i would like to use a usb controller...so how do I switch between the joystick and buttons on the arcade for arcade games and usb controller when i play console games???...Please help
I can’t seem to get Dreamcast to work. It stays on the “push start” blue screen to create a memory card and the controller is not being registered. Also happens with Daphne and Nintendo DS. Everything else works well!
I figured out Dreamcast. Go to retropie configuration then reicast then controller button assignments. The screen will turn black to input each button. It’s a pain and took me a couple of tries but works now! Dreamcast doesn’t work great though.
Drew: (or anyone who knows about torrent file dwnloads). Never dwnloaded a torrent before. Tried vman 256gb platnm xiii first, burned to etcher, didnt take...now trying this image. Im I supposed to extract file before burning to micro sd? I am using the recommended Samsung card. Thanks
i think i'm going with the raspberry pi 4 4gb version with a big heatsink on it and a case i was thinking on the odroid xu4 but i think the raspberry pi 4 4gb wil play sega saturn fine aswel. and n64 with big heatsink on it maybe but in don't care if they don't you have enough other games.. i already have a pi 3 b+ and pi3 b
Thanls so much drew and v man but the Invite link to vmans discord isnt working, and im having alot of issues with psx on 3b+ and i also need help with adding games and adding box art and videos for things he didnt included like my favorite psx title of all time, the legend of dragoon!
Can you do it tutorial and how to run this image on a desktop PC with a proper video card? Many of these games are for my childhood and I would love to play them properly and since I'm older now and have a 20 atti I'm sure these games with run best on a proper video card on a widescreen monitor. Please do that video.
First off try to install this build on a SD card ! It’s not even shrinked to fit on all cards ! In my opinion way to manny builds being pushed out by virtual man.. No hate what so ever as there great builds but better to take your time the first time as this is like 10th ver and every one has a bug that makes one emulator useless or a bug that’s just should of not been there in the first place as with this one it’s not my build but I’m already helping those with this build on my Facebook group with Boot and emulator config problems. In a few months there been like 10vers that’s just stupid crazy ? I my self just started V3 for new year with my team and we are shacking are heads.
i have his 128 version and selection a custom collection like sonic did not populate it i had to do that .. it was just offering custom panels for those collection names
Heres my super duper newb question: i download the torrent. Put it on my micro sd. Put the micro sd in my raspberry pi. Then .. Does it just start on its own?? Theres nothing else I need to do?
It sucks that it can't fit in a 256 GB card. All the 512's are over $100. Any way we can just run the rooms from usb sticks so we can fit the emulator images on a 256?
For those interested (need to fit it on sandisks since this release is not pi shrunk) with updated notes as of today ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KNHhDw8oAnw.html
@@gabrielprandini2629 oh I have a ton of games on mine. I use retroarch but I put all my games on a external hard drive. It wasn't hard at all. Download off pc to external hard drive. I haven't tried hyperspin though. I really like the way hyperspin looks. Retroarch just looks like playstation.
@@gabrielprandini2629 if you get a nvidia shield. Just get the one without a controller and use an xbox s controller or an snes30 pro. I can't stand the nvidia shield controller
@@zeek3580 thanks man, that's what I was thinking. How is the horse power? Will it run all PS1, PSP, N64, Saturn and Dreamcast? (If not all, 95%) I'm still navigating in the Odroid XU4 because these ready to go images are just killer from the aesthetically and practical point of view.
They are not gone, its a new year, so all the builds from last year are under "2018 archive" do you see that link when you scroll down in pi downloads?
Second posting: I was able to get this image flashed to and runnign from a PNY Elite Performance 256GB (standard) SD card. I have it connected to my Pi using the standard SD to microSD adaptor that Drew covered in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F6yXOf66HJc.html
How much space does that save? 50 megs? First thing I always delete from these images is the n64,,dreamcast, and psp. Sure there are maybe a small handful of those games that run good, but there is no reason to have all the n64 and psp games on here.
i mentioned it in a previous comment and in the video - either try and get on baackups.me, join the discord, or wait for arcadepunks in about 1 more day should be up on AP
So stupid he cant make the image just a bit smaller to fit on more cards. Why bother making an image that excludes users just to have a couple more games. Counterproductive. That being said, these images can be flashed to a usb thumb drive or hdd and will work/boot just fine.
Because all these people releasing these prebuilt images take the completely cheap and non-professional route. They are all about their 15 minutes of Fame.
Once you go xu4 you cant go back to pi. N64 , psp and dreamcast is a waste of time on pi. Also who puts out a 256 gb image and then says "oh yeah it doesn't work with half the 256gb sd cards out there" how about you just put 1 or 2 less ps1 games on there instead? And if you think pi4 will be out this year you are dreaming and even if it did come out, guess what? It still wont be as powerful as a xu4 because they want to keep the price low.
@@jasonu7471 this is exclusively for pi. Try the wolfenoz 256 for xu4 drew reviewed just 2 weeks ago. The xu4 will run things the pi can only dream of.
@VirtualMan007 hey, no disrespect. I and others do appreciate what you do. If anything I am just was frustrated by the pi deciding to slowly upgrade the pi as many other retropi users. But come on. You know there are going to be people who dont watch this video, spend a long time downloading this image thinking it will fit on their sd card, only to get an error code when they try to out the image on the sd card. Just something to keep in mind for your next release. End user convenience trumps 1 or 2 additional 2nd tier ps1 games. I hope in the future you can release an xu4 image. Thanks.
