After five seasons with a my dream rifle, here is a highlights reel of some of the adventures we’ve had! The rifle is all I ever dreamed it would be and more! In 2020 I upgraded to a Lazermark stock and dubbed it “Thor” the God of Thunder!

Love the passion for the hunt and your love of the 257 Bee. I am having the same issue with my New Weatherby Mark V 6.5x300 KCR . It's a tack driver. Love it more than I can write here about it. ❤❤

A lot of people don't know this , but Roy didn't switch calibers while in Africa. His Rifle was always the 257 Roy. He killed everything from Elephants to Rhino's etc. For Marketing and photo shoots he always had a different gun . But his gun was the 257 Roy. It will kill anything that walks from Mexico to Alaska , and everything in between . I saved for 2 years , 2 long years to get my Mark 5 257 Roy . Ammo was $100 bucks a box. Kids will drain you , every time you think you're there , you're not !!!! Had to sell it for bills . I was sick for a long time. Still can't afford another one. But maybe one day . Never take life for granted . Peace.

I like the fact that you can use all 257 WeatherBy bullets from 100 to 120 grain bullets even the round nose and they will hit in the same impact range all the way out to 300 yards.Meaning you could interchange all 257 weatherby out to 300 yards from 100 grn all the way to 120 without having to readjust the scope when sighted in for yourself.

I shoot hand loads with the 115 grain Barnes tsx in my MK5. 5 shot group of .339” at 100 yards and .794” at 300 yards. Kills everything DRT!! Love it!

I have a Vanguard in .257 WBY and I love it. I have shot a 7mm WBY for 30 years and it has been great but ran across an unfired Vanguard NWTF gun for $350.00. So I snapped it up and put a great scope on it. It loves the factory 100 gr Barnes TTSX loads and shoots them into .5 inch three shot groups. I have only shot 1 buck with it but I can tell its going to be a stone cold killer.

That’s a great loss for the .257. That’s what I used the on most of the critters in this video.

The 257 weatherby in vanguard or mark v are really popular in the western states and have been for years.

I killed a 132 point buck at zero yards with my truck when it ran across the street with my brights on and horn blaring. Not too too hard

I’m trying to decide between the 257 wby and a 6.5-284 norma. I have a 6.5 creedmoor and a 6.5 prc. I was about to buy the norma when I started looking at the 257. I don’t know much about it to be honest so I’ll ask you and other people posting here about it.

Those are all great cartridges. Weatherby’s are expensive to shoot and there’s no two ways about it. However most are very accurate and if you use it specifically for deer hunting and not a lot of plinking you can’t really beat it. Low recoil and absolute hammer on game. It works better than it should in my opinion. That’s just my .02.

I’m beyond considering the MK 5 and nearing making a decision. I know you have taken quite a bit of game but how accurate is your Weatherby? Is it better than MOA? How much have you shot it other than hunting? Thanks. I appreciate your input as it will be a big decision for me. Thanks again

My .300 WBY MK5 Accumark was MOA with 180gr weatherby Interlock with the first 4 shots, while breaking it in, still not done yet but confident to take it out on the field as is. Definitely a better gun than my old Christensen Arms Ridgeline in .300 Win mag, surprisingly kicks less too…. Build quality is top notch 👍 go for it if you haven’t yet.

I want to get a 257 Weatherby but i need to know a little more. I know its intended for long range flat shooting needs and will dust deer at 300 an 400 yards which is definitely in my wheel house. But sometimes I shoot them as close as 30 and 50 yards. Will the 257 Weatherby have outstanding performance on a very close deer or does the speed actually hurt it in close situations? I generally shoot a 30-06 which takes care of business near and far. I'm just really interested in the 257...... Thanks!
@downinthebottomswithmarcsm1520
Excellent question! The key to it is bullet choice. I’ve killed my farthest buck, a muley at 475 with it and I’ve shot hogs, whitetails and bobcats as close as 30. All with the factory Barnes 100 grain TTSX load. I’ve also used the Nosler 110 Accubond. Factory load with great success. Another load my gun lobes is the 120 Nosler Partition. That would be my go to for bigger animals such as elk and moose and also for deer when closer ranges are expected. Sight in 2.0 inches high at 100 and hold dread on out to 350. Good luck! You’ll love the 257.

I’ve used three so far. 100 Grain Barnes TTSX , 110 Grain Nosler Accubond and 115 Grain Nosler Ballistic Tip. All worked great but probably the all around best is the Barnes.
