My father's carry knife starting somewhere in the mid-80's, and probably for about 20 years. He doesn't carry it anymore, but I believe he still has it!

I came across a knife similar to this, larger too, the Damascus Lord from Magnum by Boker. Some what more expensive but a lot more comfortable and Damascus.

I am considering buying this knife. I have done some research(including watching this video) and I think it is a really nice knife. One question I have is what sort of foods can it cut? My dad usually cuts steak with his knife(similar to the Buck 110) and it cuts through no problem. Thank you

I suppose if your steak is 2 in thick or less your ok. I have really enjoyed using this knife. I even use it for wood carving.

I want to get my son his first knife on his 7th birthday. Would this be a good one? Or maybe get something like this for my older son for his 9th birthday and something else for my younger son for his 7th.

I would be very careful giving any kid a knife without proper training and supervision. They are very sharp and will cut you. With that said, Buck Knives are great little pocket knives, so are the Swiss Army SD's for a first knife. Again, if you give him a knife make sure you are around him at all times showing him how to use it.

The 503 demensions are bigger then the 55 so why is it the same size in this vid? I ordered the 55, 501 and 503 to see what fits best and to gift to my dad. Wewill see what i end up giving him and what i might keep. Lol.

Nice video bud. Any suggestions for cheap ways to sharpen?

I am going to be making a video series coming up on sharpening, but for something like this a Lansky would work well or a 1x42 inch belt sander or 2x72 inch belt sander, most people don't have those though. A simple Lansky will run you $30-60 bucks but its worth it and will be able to also sharpen many other knives. I would recommend that as a first step. There are many more expensive sharpening systems if you're interested. My favorite is the Wicked Edge system.
