I laughed so hard when you demonstrated how to remove that "retched" corner cushion. :-) It was great fun to see your "meltdown" combined with your sense of humor. The new cushions, fabrics and color look great - I can see why you are so pleased with them. Well done!
Whilst watching this (which I've seen before) it just clicked over to 100K subscribers. What is also interesting is that when this would have been made I would think you were at around 10K but its now been watched by 63K people meaning a lot of your new subscribers then go on to watch your catalogue. So well done, 100K is quite an achievement for a narrow boat channel!
David has done 240 videos in 5 years, however with any good movie or videos, the time has come to watch them again, one of most favourite videos has to be this one, where David gets into a rant about the dinette cushions. And I must say as much as we respect David's choice to not doing any crusing videos this year, I hope many more to come in the future, yes there is other peoples videos, however there is a huge argument that every one likes to see how David does things -:) David was one of or in fact the first person to do videos on the canal, for this every one has warmed to how he goes about it.
Smartly designed. May I suggest you don't stop with the velcro and use it to hold the upper horizontal edge that is floppy when you remove the lower portion as part of the bed extension (see 6:53) on the video? You could place it under the edge of the wall where there is the underhang, and on top of the cushion. That way if you did remove the entire cushion you would not see any velcro remnants.
As are so many others, I'm working my way through the whole lot of your vlogs, having been introduced to your channel via the fuel boat video a couple of days ago. That said, this is your most entertaining effort so far. Well done!
ha ha,..love the way Dave gets stressed at about 3.20 minutes. Especially on the corner bit. lol. Anyway, the cushions look much better in that calming blue colour. I'm really looking forward to when you start filming your adventures next month. Love your videos and thanks for taking the time sharing all this with us.
Oh, this was wonderful! Your observations on the previous floral cushions were spot on. The new ones look great, and are much more practical, as well. You did a good job designing them. Wishing you well in your new dinette!
I'm watching this because Jasmin told me about it 😅 Ha!! Ha!! Somehow I missed it earlier. But she's right, it's worth it to see you happily enjoying your new blue dinette.
what a video! one is the best yet! the graphics and sound effects on the countdown are a sign of quality. wickedly intensifying countdown with highly justified narrowboat rage
You had me laughing, Loved it....on the cushions .... so glad you made the decision to change the configuration...You should be proud of yourself ....Good Job....Well done....Can't wait till your next video....
Love it! Been watching all your new vids but I didn't realise you documented ALL of your canal journey! Just currently binging them from start to finish now. Would have thought you've been doing it for decades from the confidence of your new videos! Currently in my final year of university but I hope the canals are still in good nick and open for continuous cruising when I'm ready to retire, seems like a great way of life. Thanks again!
Recently discovered and now addicted to narrowboat vlogs. We used to be full-time RVers in the US, now retired on the west coast of Mexico. Started your vlog this morning, up to #26. Love you, looking forward to what, 250 more? Wish you had a cat...
The rant was a fun contrast to your usual composure. :) "My" blue was not chosen but it does look great. I'm so glad you didn't choose red! The whole space looks like it functions so much better now and the corner seat looks like such a great spot to relax in. I think small spaces require so much more thought and ingenuity. It's very satisfying when you find a great solution.
I've just recently come across your channel on here and I'm now hooked. I never really had an interest in narrow boats but I now want to live on one😂 However, that's not going to happen so I'll just enjoy watching you living in yours. You're very entertaining and informative. Really looking forward to continuing watching your adventures. Thank you 😊
Enjoyed the rant. It is annoying when designers get it wrong, particularly when the requirements seem logically to dictate what they should do. Thanks for the vlogs Take care
Absolutely loved this episode, a justified rant indeed 😄. That corner piece was a truly bizarre shaped white elephant (or 'off-white floral' elephant to be more accurate!). Looking forward to working through the series.
I must admit the rant about the cushions was hilarious! brilliant video. I'm just starting to look into narrow boats as an option for me to live on and you're videos are very helpful! Thank you
You are funny! I loved the rant, and the redesign. The fabric you chose looks cheerful and durable. Well done. Particularly liked your comment about how if the viewer didn't choose the one you did, well tough. Nice episode, thanks for sharing.
Watched with my 7 year old son this morning we both lol'd all through it. We're just back from a wonderful week cruising the Trent & Mersey. You have us hooked David, shall rewind and watch from #1, cheers!
Nice choice of colour there and great video as always! Thanks for taking the time to make them for us to watch, there always full of humor!Safe boating!
I will not be going anywhere soon. While I have watched quite a few of your more recent videos I decided to bite the bullet and start from the beginning. So far so good and I mean really good videos.
Lol you do make me laugh, love watching your blogs thank you for all the brilliant information and true picture of what it's like living on a narrow boat 🏠🚢
I can see myself watching all these videos several times over when Boris confines me to camp in the coming weeks. (Well apart from visiting my allotment every day.)
The best part, in my opinion, you demonstrated but did not mention: you now have a place to sit with your feet up. Nice after being on your feet all day.
We would like to buy a narrow boat, because we love them, and also I have a dog and we can't live in my partners flat in Hindhead...so we are living in Italy now. Adventure before dementia, so we watch you everyday... Thanks for your tips.
You were right about getting rid of the floral. The blue looks awesome. I live in USA and enjoy your humor . We live in Maryland by the C&O canal but it isn't usable like in ur country. We can bike and walk on the canal trail and tour an old canal boat. But no life living on the water. My husband enjoyed ur tour of the boat too. Thanks for ur videos !
"Enough to bring a man to tears"; "Am I ranting?" I was laughing my butt off at this video. I had the same ridiculous corner pillow in my trailer, a.k.a caravan. Found the nearest dumpster and tossed it in. Just recently found your channel and am obviously enjoying your videos. Thanks for making them.
I think that floral pattern appeals to “ladies of a certain age” as do all the tole painted items you inventoried in a previous video The ppl who love it, really love it and those who don’t, really don’t! My mom did tole painting and got pretty good at it but it really leaves me cold
I never considered the corner cushion set-up until you pointed out its complete uselessness! Your design - so much better and functional. I trust your blood pressure has now returned to normal!
Having just discovered your videos....having developed an interest in narrow boating from the “Country Gent” on Amazon Prime, I am delighted to be watching your prolific list of posts! If ever you are in the North Georgia Mountains, you are invited to a “free flop”. Best wishes to you for your continued success and happiness! As you Brits are fond to say, “Cheers mate!”
Can I say "what a great job you made of that" As a person just looking at you video's you just don't get the feel of things, but after you had changed the cushions it was 100% improvement and looked more comfortable.
super looking quality .. that company deserve to go places . I like blue .. my 2001 VW Caravelle is a sort of royal blue .230,000 miles from new and still going strong . new clutch didn,t need it .. new cambelts and water pump.
Hi David, well, your new covers look so nice, love the blue and are such a difference ☺ you have certainly improved things and as you said the previous corner piece was hideous and not ideal.. More comfort and looking very homely and cosy. Well done the boat is sprucing up very nicely, be proud of yourself. I was very amused at the beginning with your frustration over the old cushions ha ha!! 😁 Keep up these great vlogs, l look forward to your next one... Cheer's David xx
Thanks for the rant. I had a wonderful laugh. I think you picked #1, which was my guess, but the cushions now look like a comfortable pair of blue jeans. The kind I wear everywhere.
Nicely put! I had a similar settee cushion fiasco with a "truck camper" as we call them in Canada, the "on the cheap" answer to a motor home if you have a family pickup truck. I had a redesigned set of cushions built by an upholsterer which did the job to "my" satisfaction. After watching your blog I'm ashamed to admit, in a floral pattern, but on one side only (kids and spills, you know, so; brown naugahyde on the other.
Just found this series last night and have binge-watched the first 2 dozen videos. Great stuff. We have nothing like this in America and while "tiny house living" does NOT interest me, the notion of a slowly cruising (in shallow water at that- good b/c I don't swim) along in the quiet countryside sounds absolutely heavenly!
