Just bought an Arlen Ep5, used you code. Got 25% off on the scope and set of rings. You helped me out and I hope using the code helps your channel. Have to use upper case/capital letters for the code. WHOTEEWHO. Tried the small ones, whoteewho and it didn’t work.
Okay. So I've never bought anything from Arkin before, but I just picked up a savage F Tr 308 single shot model 11, and I've got a 30 mm tube scope sitting here to go on it. I was watching your video on the 220 swift, and I decided to give them a try and use your discount to order some rings this morning to put this rig together. Now i'm waiting to see what they look like! Thanks Rat
Your 264 Winchester Magnum has a 1 in 9 twist vs the 1in8 twist of the 6.5 Creedmoor, PRC and the 6.5 x.284 Norma. My nephew has a Sendero in 264 and it loves the Hornady 129 grain SST for deer and black bear. For coyotes, it uses 130 grain Berger VLD hunting bullets. I like keeping the velocity around 3100 fps. It has printed a best of a 2.68 inch group at 500 yards so far with the Bergers. My brother found my nephew's 264 Sendero at a public auction. Nobody wanted it because of the weight and lack of knowledge about the caliber. We had it bore scoped at a local gunsmith and he said it wasn't fired much.
the rem 700 sendero is Remington's best rifle except their custom shop and custom barrels etc. my 264wm hammers the 129/130 gr bullets sub-moa and the 140s are just fine too with the 1:9 twist. if you are going for the heavier weight berger 156 gr bullets, you will need the 1:8 twist. I would dare say, a 140gr bullet will kill an animal as dead as a 150...
@@hk45c62 I am still sure you have no idea how far distances are you just talk allot of RU-vid Groupie parrot talking nonsense. The biggest liars in gun comments are the fools making wild claims of long-distance shooting then looking at these idiots' channels are full of video war games showing they are PUNK ASS teenagers not yet the age to own a gun
The original load from Winchester in 1959 was a 140 grain bullets being pushed out of the 26 inch barrel from the model 70 Westerner. Gun writer of the day called it a barrel burner and almost killed it after the arrival of 7mm Remington magnum in the Model 700. The loads are loaded down on purpose but handloading for will make shine. The other thing that doesn't help is the twist is 1-9 so the 140 grain bullets are the max so when you do burn out the barrel on you third generation Sendero replace it with a 1-8 twist so you can use the 150 grain Nosler Long Range Accubond bullets. That's I'm doing with a custom left handed build on a Winchester Model 70 enjoy the rifle and cherish the caliber it truly is a great cartridge.
You have your head filled with brainwashing bull shit of burning out barrels when the only way to wreck a barrel is in competitive shooting thousands of rounds of ammo and having the barrel stay hot. The hunter will never shoot a barrel out. The next proving you are a Parrot mouth talker is you just had to go there with one of the RU-vid Groupie Parrot mouth talker fads of writing Nosler Accubond bullets like it is a wonder you didn't bring up 45-70 fad or crap lead bullet fad or Buffalow bore nonsense fad talk and hunting brown bears with 10 mm or shooting brown bears at a 1000 yards with a 10 mm handgun all well used parrot mouth talk nonsense !
Those old bushnell elite scopes like came off that rifle are really good. They're not modern with all the bells and whistles, but the glass is great. I have 4 or 5 of them, and love them. As long as youre shooting high velocity stuff inside 300 yards, dials aren't necessary for hunting imo.
@LouellaAlbino Not sure what kind of Leupolds you've been using, but I've NEVER had one fog up. I used to use vx-2 for a long time, but have been using vx-3 for the last 15 years and have never been let down by one. These Bushnell Elite scopes (the old made in Japan ones) have great Japanese glass, smooth power and parallax adjustment, and do have a rain coating on the lenses. They are good in low-light, and are generally very good scopes. I've hunted with both, and I will take my vx-3 over it all day, but the elite is definitely better than the lower end Leupolds, and will not ever disappoint you in my experience. I have 5 of the elites, and am always looking for good deals on them to get more, so I'm not knocking them at all. But in my personal experience, I like my vx-3's just a little more.
Hey brother, I think you were absolutely right about why that first group was so open. I'll bet someone ran a brush through that barrel before you bought it. It makes the rifling all shiny, but it kills the accuracy. I never run brushes on my rifles anymore. I'm no pro, that's just what I've found in my own experiences. Thanks for the new video. I love that rifle. God bless Buddy
Copper fouling buildup can and certainly does tighten SOME barrels up making them shoot a ton better but many other barrels suffer badly. There are a lot of variables to what causes some to do well with fouling and others not to do well, like, groove depth, metallurgy of the barrel, how polished the lands are, chromium amount, as well as twist rate to bullet speed ratio (like 2960fps at 1/8 twist) and a few other things.
Love the .264 Win mag, I have 2 I custom built myself, on Savage actions. One for benchrest, and one for hunting with a heavy barrel. I have never shot a factory round thru mine, all handloads. IMR 4350 is the go to powder. I am running 140 gr sp at 3100fps.
I've got a Savage LH model 110 from the 60's. I would love any reload info you could pass on. Interested more in accuracy than speed. Bullets, powder, load. Thank you
Magazine on the rifle is most definitely an aftermarket conversion kit. It works , so no big deal. Scope height, if it works for you, do as you like. I myself, need a low mounted scope cuz i wont get a cheek weld. More like a chin weld. Must install a comb raising device if needed.
One of my all time favorites. I have a pre 64 Winchester Model 70 in. 264 and then I bought a Super Grade in 264 Back around 2003or so when Winchester was doing a limited run on them. And if that wasn't enough I bought a stainless extreme weather model when they first started offering it again in 264 at the Columbia SC factory before it moved overseas. Well threes a charm for me and they are all three shooters. They all three love the 130 grain Accubond by Nosler. Well enough of my ranting.
The height of optic over bore changes your trajectory values. Which is why ballistic calculators ask for the height of your optic over bore (the measurement of center of bore to center of optic). IF someone uses the generic 1.5 inch scope height input in the calculator while having an actual scope height of 2.5 inches the bullet trajectory table will be off incrementally . As long as the user inputs the actual scope height the height of the optic does not matter other than comfort/cosmetics.
Exactly! Fired M16 with top handle sight in BCT. The bore is never parallel to the line of sight which the bullet crosses both rising and falling. Older online and recent built in ballistic calculators include that input. I plotted a familiar caliber's trajectory with 1.5" & 2.5" scope heights for a 6" MPBR. Somewhere ~250 yd the differences was maybe 15 or less.
Awesome rifle my friend. I just got a 264 win mag that belonged to my uncle. The rifle is a middle sixties Remington 700. The rifle was rebarreled in 1980 with a Douglas barrel as we all know that they are throat burners. Just starting some load development for it with Sierra 130gr. Game changers. Awesome videos keep them coming.
@waynemayle865 I was just speaking hypothetically. It would be a wildcat round with 1:7 twist pushing a .243 diameter bullet 108gr in weight around 3600+ fps. Not sure if it's been done but would be pretty cool.
@waynemayle865 I've been experimenting with 32gr .224 solid copper bullets in 22 ARC but haven't had luck on accuracy from the KAK 18" barrel I'm using. It was kind of a "let's see how fast we get it" idea.
It’s no fud lore to have your scope as close to the barrel as possible, it is absolutely necessary for correct ballistics…I have a custom 264WM built on a Sendero II action, 8” twist, 29.5” barrel. 4.5-27x50 30mm scope as close to the barrel as possible. No ejector…
Many positives in 6.5 =.264 family. Some say 7 mm mag ended .264 mag because of it's a tiny bit better bullet choices. I believe the barrel burn issue,, TRUE or NOT TRUE ,IT'S A RUMOR that spread, was itls demise , Many years ago.
Love my two 264 mags. One is a Ruger 77 stainless and the other is a custom Sako with a 1-8” twist Bartlein barrel. You will find most reloading manuals under load the 264 mag by at least 5 grains. They must hate it for some reason. I have had my best results with H4831 and R22. Use your chronograph and pay attention to pressure for some great performance out of the 264. God bless bro!
Adam, that is a sweet rifle. You did well to find a Sendero. In my opinion only, the Winchester Model 70 Super Grade & Remington 700 Sendero are the class of the field from factory manufacturers. Yesterday I picked up my Sendero clone from my gunsmith in Western WA. Stiller action, Krieger barrel, & McMillan stock left-handed in 6.5 Creedmoor. I hope it will shoot as well as your 264 Win Mag. Thank you for the You Tube.
I have a custom built .264 Win Mag and love it this cartridge really shines when you handload it. I’m running the 127 grain Barnes LRX and deer can’t stand them. Awesome rifle. You will like it
That’s a great and somewhat forgotten caliber. I was going to suggest using the Berger 156 elite hunter but I just looked and they recommended a 1 in 8 twist.Someone else said that you will have a 1 in 9 . If you start loading just skip all the rest of the bullet and get some Berger 140 elite hunters. You won’t regret paying the price. Thanks for all you put out for us Whoteewho
Now that's a beast of a rifle, and a quality well made rifle, you can't beat the 700 sendero .I happen to know where there's a Honey hole of older .264 win mag brass.its either once shot or pulled and has never been shot.
I chose the 7mm Rem Mag instead of .264 when I had Jarrett build me a "beanfield rifle" back in the mid 80's, but the .264 was a dang close second on caliber choice for me. With todays technology in powders and bullets, if I had to do it again, I probably would have went .264 Win Mag. Its a chambering I am surprised aint more popular these days.
I had a savage 110 if you cleaned it really good first 3 shots where like a 2 to 3 inch group then after that you bet money it be under a inch maybe even a ½ inch groups always made me wonder why cleaning it made it shoot like trash
Can you compare the . 264 to the 6.5 PRC in chronograph and paper plates and clay blocks. Also the .264 is a necked down .338 win mag. I always wanted one but never got one same with the 220 Swift. You are clearing my bucket list! WhoTeeWho! Love your channel! Keep up the good work!
Heya Adam, looks like you may have yourself a really good one there and as has been said already, you are definitely going to want to load for that one AND your 220swift. You just absolutely will not find a factory loading for either of those Sendies that will perform to the capabilities of those rifles. I'll give you a heads up on BOTH of them though. Do not let them get too hot. Both of those loadings are in fact barrel burners if you don't watch yourself. On the swift I can help you a lot with just one suggestion, when you start loading for it, load your overall cartridge length for your bullet to be as close to the lands as you can get. I've had a few rifles in 220 swift including that Mod70 and every one of them, as well as the other barrels for my 70, have always grouped better with as little jump as I could accomplish. And my barrel lasted a bit longer as well. Less gas cutting. What really killed my barrels was Prairie dog shoots. You could cook a steak mid rare off my barrel.
I like the optic closer to the barrel cause it lets you get a better cheek weld and relax into the gun more. Also like a one piece mount cause it holds zero better. No hinge point and less potential slop in the mount. Took my long range 30-06 out last week and its still dead on after sitting around for almost a year. 3in groups at 400 yards.
I’ve been using the “direct mount” scope rings for the last few scopes I’ve mounted. One less step and set of bolts to loosen up (rings to rail connection) certainly not as convenient for somebody like you who changes scopes often, but for a set it and leave it type guy I think it works better.
Great shooting brother 😊 All my rifle are topped off with Bushnell rifle scopes! I've never had an issue with any of them.. going all the way back to 1982! The Elite 3200 is a quality optic.. I'll be watching to see if you give it away ❤
I really enjoy the content you put out! It's always real stuff from somebody the average guy can relate to. I realize you don't have control of which pop-up adds show up but it was real nice of Heels Up Harris to support your channel with some add revenue even when they won't be getting any donations and it cost them more to place the add than they will receive......
Everyone has their opinions and favorites as far as optics, rings and bases goes. In my opinion Leupold makes some of the best scopes available and has one of the very best guarantees there is. And American made!!! I use scopes with 40mm objectives and low or medium rings. Closer to the bore of the rifle the better for the scope mount. The higher the rings the more your accuracy is affected by rifle cant and I believe high rings have an affect on the range of elevation adjustments. That being said it’s important to have a good cheek weld and to be comfortable behind the scope. So if high rings work for someone then have at it👍 Just my 2 cents for what it’s worth.
Id do a jig with that last group. As a teen I drooled over the senderos. All they needed was a good trigger. Later in life when I could afford them. I bought a 300RUM in a PSS model. Oh shes nasty after I put a trigger in it. THEN got a 22-250 in a VLSS thumbhole stock. I put a trigger in it too. I love my big barrels. A 264 wasn't popular around here, and everyone had settled in with 270 ,300, and 7mm mag.
I always thought keeping your scope close to the barrel was a good thing, but you just solved a mystery for me. You do enough shooting to know that. That's awesome, I won't worry about that no more.
U are awesome. Love your videos. U shoot hunting stuff. Love mine 264. I have one in a Ruger custom . Mine has a 30 in bartine barrel. Shoots really great. U will love that rifle. It's the same case in 7 mag. Mine shoot 3340 with 140 Bergers.
That’s a keeper. Especially doing it with that cheap stuff legit. You start stretching it out, try the mid weight stuff like berger 130’s and if I remember right. The 500 drop is true’d on mine at like 42”. Very very capable power lines rig…
Wow. The myth still survives. Any over bored cartridge will scorch a barrel if mistreated. Which means keep it clean and don’t overheat it. I’ve seen 243, 223, 300win, and others with heat cracking in the throat. Writers killed the 264 with conjecture not evidence. A customer brought in a 7mag that was “shot out”. Just extremely fouled with copper. Get a barrel cooler My pre 64 has a couple thousand rounds through it. Most as fast as can go. Remember buyers of some of the newer magnums accept that 800 rounds is an acceptable barrel life.
Ill buy that bushnell off ya!! Yea 1st sendero i ever seen with a detach mag. Prob aftermarket. U adjusted the scope the right way too😅. Ive only ever shot 1 sendero in 25-06. Folded a whitetail doe grave yard dead at bout 270 yards. It was a buddies who decided he wanted to hunt. He splurged and got it. I helped him sight it in. Then he let me have 1st kill. But he started complaining it was too heavy to drag up west virginia mountains. 😅
Who Tee, i would ask you to look at the trigger on your .220 Swift. If it is the old factory 700 trigger, they can be VERY dangerous if let down too much.
Thanks for the video man always enjoy them. Ive been looking for that exact rifle or one in 7 mm rem mag. Thanks again man keep up the awesome work God bless you
The factory ammo is weak. You have to hand load for it. RL-25 will get you there up to 130 grainers. VN N 570 is the GO for 140’s. I have had 5 of them. Perfect for Aussie conditions.
I tried to get one in the late 90's but my gun dealer could not get it. Got tired of waiting so for the same price I bought a new Rem 700 cal in 270 wsm and a new Ruger P90 45 acp.
I know everyone expects that a turret adjustment should “stick the landing” or go where it’s told..either the barrel likes heat or the turret(s) need coaxing?? I do it with a lite tap with a plastic hammer…
Adam if I can correct you the 6.5 PRC is close to replicating the .264 performance with less powder and recoil. The 6.5 Creedmore is a good cartridge but not in the same performance class!
Now that girl is laser beam, and she can do some work. Not really the most inherently accurate, but lot a lot a lot of ppl still swear by that one. That and the 25-06 are still the two neck shooter kings.
This is the one I’d be more worried about barrel burnout than 220 swift. I believe that’s the reason 7 rem mag outpaced the 264 is worry about barrel burn.
I have a 6.5 PRC and a creedmoor. I'm not familiar at all with this cartridge but I'm seeing about 100 fps faster than the PRC bullet depending. I personally can't see myself needing that extra velocity but I always enjoy seeing cartridges I'm not familiar with. Especially when it's another case of what's old is new.
12:22 PPU’s reputation is some more Fudd Lore. 😉 Jokes aside, their brass is extremely durable, and very consistent. I’ve found PPU Brass to be some of the most durable on the market, and unbeatable for the money.
