First decent day this year !!
7am start from Bromsgrove. First Stop Chirk for a bacon & egg bap + coffee. Then on to the Horseshoe pass hear Llangollen. Heading West to Penrhyn Railway Station (near Porthmadog). There was a team of volunteers restoring the grade 2 listed station building... very friendly... offered me a coffee 😎
Watched a couple of Ffestiniog Railway trains pass through before heading down to Porthmadog and a much needed pint of Guinness at Spooners Bar located in the main Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway Station.
Next through Harlech down the stunning coast to Barmouth which was very busy.... loads of bikers enjoying the Sun. Finally heading home through Dolgellau and over the spectacular Dinas Mawddwy... cross country to Ludlow ... over Clee Hill and home at 17.30 hrs... 265 miles... just perfect.

I just picked up the same bike, a 2010 from the original owner was 7500 miles on it here in November 2023.. it broke down on me on the third ride. I found out later that it was because there was stabilizer in the fuel when the owner parked it in his garage for a few years. When I got it, I filled the tank, and I felt it hesitating on the first ride and the second ride. I thought that it just needed a good days run.. my riding on the bike and having new gas in it for the first time in years, loosened all the hardened debris at the bottom of the tank caused by the stabilizer. I have videos of what I got out of the gas tank on my RU-vid channel.. I finally have the machine back together here in February 2024, but the weather is breaking. I had to clean out the inside of a gas tank and the two filters which I have video.of on my channel.. I’m hoping it will be my favorite current motorcycle. It certainly is comfortable, handles, neutral, I think it has too much front brake on a single would’ve been better overall. I don’t need a 500 hp Front brake.. very pleasant power delivery, surprisingly turkey for a 700.. Nice complete package as is. Reminds me of my moto guzzi norge , except for the fact, that Honda is roomier, and more comfortable than my Norge. The Norge seems to be made for someone to be 28 inch inseam 5‘8“ tall. Just a little cramped, but that marvelous Guzy engine makes up for a lot.. I bought this machine because of the favorable reviews by the UK riders. I have only seen one of these machines here in the United States on the road ever. I bought this machine because of all the great things the UK riders have to say about it… I have a couple videos on about this machine so far, I’ll be doing some more videos here once the weather breaks here in West Pittsburg USA.. Looking forward to learning from your videos about this machine

Jody... Great to hear from you. Like yours.. my 2011 NT700V had around 7800 miles on it when I purchased it 18 months ago. My recent, previous, bikes before the NT700V were a Harley V-Rod followed by a Honda ST1100 Pan European. Both great Bikes.... but with me now being 67 years old I did find them a little too heavy.... no problem when on the move but at slow speeds they both were quite top heavy and I often felt I might drop them. So the hunt was on for a replacement. I was attracted to the NT700V as it, I think, looks great.... had great reviews... shaft drive.. which I really like.... Fuel injected... plenty of storage space... mine has ABS (first bike I've owned with ABS) and of course... the legendary Honda build quality and reliability. I was concerned that I would miss the power of the V4 1100cc Pan European... but like you was genuinely surprised by the torque of the 700cc engine. It handles like a dream... just effortless riding and so comfortable (mine has an aftermarket seat which suits me fine) I can honestly say it is the best bike I have owned... I absolutely love it. It's been off the road over winter... we are away on vacation in a couple of weeks time... back on the 10th March... so hopefully the weather will have improved and I can get out into the Mountains of North Wales... can't wait !! I look forward to seeing more videos from you (I just checked out your NT700V ones) and I'm sure I will be adding some more. Changing the subject... it's always nice to get a message from the US. My wife, Linda, and I love North America and have travelled extensively through the 50 States over the last 25 years... we've driven 65,000 miles in that time and visited every State at least once !! Throughout all our travels we have never had a bad moment..... everyone has been friendly and helpful.... we have seen some remarkable scenery and great Cities... and made some lovely friends. Our daughter moved to America about 3 years ago and has lived in Nashville, Wilmington NC and is now in Delray Beach Florida.... we visited her last November. This year we plan a roadtrip from Dallas to LA via Vegas. We love American Railroads and American Cars... I've owned 3 1970s Cadillacs and 3.. what I think you call Conversion Vans... the last one being a beautiful 1996 Ford Econoline 5.8 liter .. just amazing... just a shame they are so thirsty with the price of fuel over here in the UK lol So we sort of think of ourselves as Honorary Americans I 'm very interested to see how you get on with the Honda. The Honda is such a well mannered bike I felt the need to compliment it with something completely different... so last year I purchased a 2013 Yamaha Star Stryker... 1300cc monster... it's crazy.. so loud ... so quick... actually handles OK and has a low centre of gravity with a low seat so no worries about dropping it at low speed. No good for long journeys but great around town.. its an American Import.. from Florida with just 6,000 miles on it... video here... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u1NrjTSSGlE.html Anyhow... must sign off... keep in-touch.. regards Paul

paul. Nice to hear from you.. I agree with you that the NT 700 may be just about the best motorcycle i have had ever.. Open so I got this machine, I thought that the Honda pacific coast was the best all around machine,on earth.. i’ve had two of them PC 800s. My first one got totaled with me on it when I was struck from behind waiting my turn at the stop sign on my morning commute. I must say it was the most profitable paid nine month vacation of my life. I replaced it with a 94 Honda pacific coast. I was lucky enough to find it was owned Buy the wife of a rider with only 4200 miles on it. I rode that machine for the next 24 years mostly commuting 26 miles a day on back roads… I never even had to change a bulb on that machine. Nothing ever broke my machine… but when I retired, I had a GL 1800 Goldwing, a motor Guzzi, Norge, 1200 GT, hey suzuki V Strom, 1000 and the Pacific coast. So I let it go. That was the longest I ever owned any of my motorcycles, 24 years.. I feel terrible like I just sold my dog or something, but it also was bothering me that it was just sitting there.. but now that I have this NT, including the color matched trunk that you have, now that I have it sorted out, I think this may be the best motorcycle I have ever owned.. I did have two issues with it. The first one you know, the mass of debris left behind in the fuel tank, priced by stabilizer that the original owner put in the tank and let it sit for years, maybe as long as eight years. And then these machines have another issue that Honda almost did a worldwide recall to fix. It’s the spark plug caps. In my very first video of this machine, I comment about how the bike had a hesitation from time to time, and it actually stalled when pulling away from a stop sign in that first video. I believe that was not a fuel problem, I think that was the spark plug caps that causes the machine to hesitate and stall that time.. Reading information about the spark, plug cap voltage leaks, describes the symptoms as acting like it’s running out of gas for a moment or turning the key off for a moment. I replaced the spark plug caps, and that hesitation has completely disappeared.. they say the spark plug caps, develop these cracks from being in such a hot location on the bike, and the cabs in hotter climates are the ones that fail sooner than later. I also completely coated the spark plug wire all the way up to the coils with dielectric silicone, grease. Which I have always done to all my motorcycles… I only bought the machine in November 2023, then winter arrived, and now that it is spring, it rains a lot, so I really haven’t had any long long rides on this machine yet to tell you the truth I just don’t trust it yet after being stranded for the first time in decades due to the clogged fuel filter problem.. I myself had a Ford Econoline van that I bought new in 1977 when the 1978 first came out. I had that van for 31 years. I mostly only used it to haul my motorcycles to the race track or dirtbike riding. It had the ultra reliable 300 in.³ 6 cylinder, engine, with a manual three speed shift on the column. Vans were very very popular when I went to buy one to haul my route racing machine the long distances between road race tracks. It did not even have air-conditioning. I swore that my next truck was going to be loaded. you like 70s Cadillacs. Ironically, I have a 1958 mga and I have owned since 1968. that was my car all through high school. But once I went to work, it was Obviously not a practical car for here in Pennsylvania where we get winter. So I had it partially restored in 1975 and stuck it in my mom’s garage after I had the engine rebuilt to stock. And now it sits in my garage. I turn it over with the handcrank at least once a month for a minute at a time. I did have to pull it out of my garage one winter because I needed to replace the head gasket on my saab 900, and I didn’t wanna do it out in the sub freezing temperatures that February. So I hooked up a battery and put some gas in the MG and it fired right up.. I always said that I would get it back on the road after I retire. But I’ve been retired since 2016, and my ambition now is to have the ambition. I’m just having too much fun with my motorcycles.. I can’t wait till the weather finally starts cooperating here in 2024 to start doing some all day test rides on my nt 700.. after all these decades, behind bars, I can say that the weather really doesn’t get sunny and warm, reliably until the middle of May here in Pennsylvania. funny how when I was commuting by motorcycle usually from the end of February through the middle of December, I could tolerate the cold for the 35 minute ride to work in the morning. But that’s really no fun for any long distance rides. Especially since I will not ride my motorcycles when they have salt on the roads. it just tears the motorcycle up.. have you ever ridden a motorcycle through Spain or France or Italy. I watch every minute of the bicycle tour de France, I can’t believe how beautiful the scenery in those roads are along those bicycle routes. have you been to the isle of mann to see the TT ?? I’m looking forward to seeing more of your videos

I have a 650 in excellent condition, and once you get the right windscreen, bar risers, replacement seat, these are just mile munchers. I used to get sore after about an hour, but with a bit of fine tuning... damn. And you can ride them like a slightly underpowered sports bike too. I'd love to have ABS, but in dry weather the stopping power is surprisingly decent.
