Indeed driving a bike in a gentle way is very distressingly. Have the same bike, I love it… 125.000km and still running like new.

Excellent video showing the stunning coastline scenery, love this northeast coastline. I have a bottom fairing on my NT 700 agree with your comment that is just finishes the bikes look.

Love those roads, I can only imagine how great it must be to ride a bike around there. I too was taken to that fishermans tea hut for bacon buttys. That little coffee hut is great too.

Another cracking video, thanks. I absolutely agree with your thoughts on the depth of focus when riding a bike as opposed to driving on four wheels and am delighted someone else shares my own long held love of the ‘me time’ you gain on the bike! I’ve been to Whitby a couple of times but always in the car and with others . Watching this run, it’s clear I’ve missed a trick or two by not biking around there. Your obvious enthusiasm for your own backyard is infectious! You’d probably do very well should you ever decide to jack in the I T job and start your own our company! Just sayin!🤣

New jacket? I liked the belly pan, it does finish the bike off. As a Westcountry resident I have never been to Whitby, that looked like a really nice run and a little reminiscent in places to the A39 down here, that runs all along the West Somerset and North Devon coast from Bridgwater to Barnstaple, including Porlock and Countisbury Hill's. Thanks for taking us along.

That was a Grand video, I would like to put you name there, but I watched all the vids and I don't think you have mentioned it. There is a definite progression with your delivery and you are becoming more adept as time goes on. That's not a criticism, its just what happens to all of us as you become more confident. I love the fact that you do you commentary live with the sound of the bike in the background, its so much better than voicing afterwards. The journey was very interesting and a great advert for Whitby, not that it needs it. I will have to temp you both up country to North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Keep up the great work. Howdy Dave, glad you enjoyed it. No temptation needed, at the very least this year we will be having a run out to Holy Island and the surrounding areas. Holy Island on a quiet day is one of my most favourite places 🙂. You're right I don't think I have mentioned it on any videos to date but its James. Thanks for your kind comments and feedback always appreciated 🙂.

Nice video, thanks for that! With regards to the belly pan: While my assessment would be that, looks-wise, the bike actually looks a wee bit better without it, I immediately add that I have fitted the very same lowers. My reasoning behind it is that it protects the engine, frame bits and exhaust bits from road salt, and my feet from getting wet. As an additional measure against road salt attacks, I also have the fender extender mounted on the front fender. You also seem to have a bit of a panel gap between the radiator cover and the lower. I had that too, so I loosened the bolts that tie the lower fairing to the bike and wiggled about a bit until that was (largely) fixed. Makes it look a wee bit more "finished" (the mounting instructions never tell you to do so...).
@mapandlens
@mapandlens 2 года назад
Thanks for watching and thanks for the suggestion. I need to paint the radiator surround as its looking a little sorry for itself, I'll have a wiggle with pan fitment then to try and get the fit a little better. If you wouldn't mind sending a pic of how yours sits that would be super helpful 🙂
@ppeterh
@ppeterh 2 года назад
@@mapandlens I haven't got pics of the lowering kit as it sits now, but I'll do some up. My mounting report (which is an extension to the manual) might help you too. If you comment there and pop me an email address, I can take that comment out before it's published to prevent your address being available everywhere on the internet. I can then send you the piccies when I get them done.

I had the exact lower fairing on mine when I got it, and I agree it finishes it off. Unfortunately for me every time I went around a right hand corner the fairing scraped quite alarmingly! I took it off, and took the opportunity to clean the exhaust down pipes and casings, ( it really does save a lot of crap getting on there) bit of a side note the previous owner had put aluminium mesh like you see on the grills of modded cars sometimes, that really stopped anything getting through. Including enough air, the exhaust headers were badly heat damaged so if yours are open ( I couldn’t see ) be very careful on maintaining enough air flow. Anyway getting back to mine, h bit of a rabbit trail there ) I refilled it, there is only one way too fit it so I did that correctly, but it still scraped! I tried tweaking the rear preload but to no avail, mine is off and will stay off. Perhaps my 20 stone might have helped, yours is obviously all right. I have seen another one they make which is more a type of belly pan, I think I will look at that. Please grease everything up and swill with cold water when you get home after a winter ride salts a finish killer! But grease or Vaseline lightly covering will help. Love Whitby and the road from Whitby to Scarborough is a glorious ride. Think it’s the A171 unfortunately my physical shape won’t allow me that long in the saddle now, it’s a 250-ish mile ride which was nothing at one time but is way too much because of pain . I just have to satisfy myself staying very local but praise Jesus I’m still riding…. Just Anyhoo nice video

Thank you for watching and thanks for the tips. Mine is open at the front to allow air to pass over the downpipes, but I'm glad you mentioned that as I was thinking about covering over that front hole in the lower fairing but I'll re think that now. So far touch would it hasn't scraped until the week before last when I hit a patch of slippy fluid on the road and skidded off, the lower fairing took the brunt so now looks a little worse for ware ☹️

Thank you for watching. Funny you mention that as when I first got her I really noticed it especially at steedy crusing 55mph ish. Below and above that the engine is quite smooth but around 55mph can feel the vibrations. Never feels too distracting mind 👍

mate I agree with you 100% ,riding a motorbike is the best stress killer you can get, it's not about the speed, it's about the ride! oh and I've just purchased a NT700 2010 year. oddly I'm thinking of getting exactly the same exhaust as yours 😆, does the old one weigh more than the new one? cheers, and fantastic video thank you.

Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video. Welcome to the NT club, how have you found her? I would say the new exhaust feels a fair bit lighter than the standard one. It's also easier to fit and remove, and in my opinion nicer looking and sounds great 👍
@MrM9911
@MrM9911 2 года назад
@@mapandlens agreed your exhaust does look better on it, just the standard one doesn't look like it suits it. I've ridden quite a few motorbikes through the years now the best being an yamaha xj900, that too was shaft drive and smooth to ride. I like the NT700 really good sound economical bike to ride, especially now I've got used to the vibration of it. Not the smoothest bike but it does grow on you, going to work some mornings I find myself smiling and chilled out.
