Every Twister fan knows the true heroes of the film were the cars. Fun fact about the film is 5 trucks in total were used for bill's truck and if you look closely in the movie the number badge on the truck changes from 2500 to 1500 several times, the truck was also a pre release model of the dodge ram. The yellow jeep was a jeep gladiator honcho and 4 of them were used in filming, each one was a different model year from the 80s and the production crew made them all look identical, each one had a number welded onto the front drivers side bumper to tell them apart, two were destroyed in filming, one was displayed at the wakita twister museum for a year after the film released and then driven to California to be sold to a private collector and the other sits in a car museum in Gatlinburg Tennessee.
@@AngryCatMan1982 well that's because of a stupid law that states that all prototype vehicles have to be destroyed which the trucks used were prototypes
The truck was actually a 1995 Dodge Ram 3500 V10. You can pause the movie on the truck in most shots of the “hero” truck that’s undamaged and see is the Ram 3500 V10. The 2500 and 1500 were used for the stunts. The 5.9 Magnum V8 was used for the movie sounds. Not all 3500’s were dually configuration.
“Aunt Meg, where’d you get all this beef?” “Did you not see all my cows out front?” “Showers free!” “I’m next!” “Can you now actually predict tornadoes?” “Well no, not exactly.” “Tornadoes are very very unpredictable, as my colleagues unfortunately found out earlier today.” “Booo!” “Turn him off!” “Get him out of here!” I still remember when the movie came out like it was yesterday.
Got me the movies that are just pure timeless. Like The Godfather, and part 2, terminator 2, Jurassic Park, The Dark Knight, The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, and to be honest in my opinion, twister is one of those moments that I just purely love. One of my personal favorites. To me it’s timeless. And of course the Red truck. Lol that is indeed its own character.
Twister is without doubt my favourite film. Seeing the locations was brilliant - I have often nosed about Google Maps (I live in the UK) at Wakita and other filming places. One of my favourite scenes is where the camera pans through the fan as Melissa is sat watching the weather and the curtains start to flap. The red Ram has always been my favourite truck since making a cameo in the film - it did wonders for sales too! I loved Aunt Meg’s house - shame it’s no longer there. Thanks for such a cool video.
Thank you for the video... This was the last movie I saw with my dad May 12, 1996 ... He passed away 05/15/96 ... I have the movie poster framed signed by HH and BP ... I have driven Rams since 1998 due to the movie... I still have my 2007 and now a big boy truck Ram 2019... I am such a fan... and hope to get up there by the 30th reunion... The farmer guy was a great treat to hear him talk about the filming...
You're welcome! And I'm sorry to hear about your father passing but at least you got to share that moment with him. And for sure, he was amazing to talk with and listen to.
Grew up with this classic movie. Seeing this brings me back those memories. It's timeless. To see everyone lining the road for the parade is heartwarming. Idk why, but it just is. I think it has something to do with the storm chaser community being so tight, & then with everyone who does come, it becomes memorable for so many families who watched the original growing up when this annual event does take place. Oh... & you sir have a "Very pretty truck." Ps... take care of it! 😊
I just ran across your channel. This series was awesome! The Dodge Ram from Twister has always been my dream vehicle. For the past 15 years I have as close to the truck as I'm going to get. She's a 97' Ram 1500 Club Cab Long Bed 2wd 5.2L in Emerald Green. I've seriously considered just having it repainted Flame Red, but it would have to be a full body off for it to look right. Maybe one of these days.
Twister is one of a bunch of 90’s movies that I love. It’s also one of a handful that made me want to get into the career that I did in television and film, and I originally tried to get into visual effects too. Although that didn’t work out. A few more personal reasons why Twister struck a cord for me were that one, although I live in a major metro area of over 2 million people now, I grew up in central/northern Michigan in a very rural and flat area of mostly farmland. The Oklahoma setting reminds me a lot of it. And two and even more so, as a little kid in the 80’s and 90’s, my family was friends with another family who owned a hot air balloon, and we went to a lot of balloon festivals in the state with them. It has a surprisingly similar feel to this movie. You’re checking weather reports the day you fly, and then once the balloon is airborne, you have a crew of a few vehicles with radios, driving around country roads trying to figure out your path with (at the time) rural paper maps, all while trying to keep visual contact with your balloon. The balloon almost always landed in a farmer’s field somewhere, you’d go knock on their door and meet them, then invite them over to celebrate the successful flight with your crew with done champagne. I swear the basics of Twister reminded me SO much of doing that. I miss it a lot. Haven’t done it since the very late 90’s now, but it’s one if my fondest recurring memories. Twister also came out on my birthday in May, and when I went to the theater to see it that day, when I got up to the box office and said I wanted 1 for Twister, the employee told me “I can’t do that right now. We need you to over near that wall and sit down. There’s a tornado coming this way.” I said “Ha ha, very funny.” But the employee said “No, I’m serious.” and pointed to the wall, where I saw about 20 people taking cover! Thankfully the tornado didn’t hit the theater, but it sure gave me a story I’ll never forget.
Twister is one of my favorite movie and this video is amazing I had no idea that they did a parade on the anniversary of the movie thanks for sharing this 😊😊
Glad this popped into my recommendations! Clean truck man. What a cool even. Twister has been one of my favorite movies. Bill would probably have loved this. Thanks for adding this to my bucket list. Also, your channel is legit! Hope it pops off soon.
Happy to see one of the original screen used jeep trucks is still around even though they changed the original wheels and an original Dorothy from the movie!!💗💗
@@bojomcfly98 You won't be disappointed. Storm chasers are handling the making of the new one this time. We are really watching how it's being made. No mistakes for a legendary classic to be brought back to life. Real storm footage is going to be used.
First off, the movie was awesome. Now...in watching the parade portion through Wakita, (living in SoCal) I looked at this and had the typical SoCal thought of "REALLY? This is entertainment for people out there?" and no sooner than I thought that, my very next thought to myself was, "Wow, this is the simplicity of life I think I actually need." Cali is an absolute disaster. Anyway, thanks for putting this video up. Cool to see all the old filming locations!
Oh man, you should've put a cow prop in the back of your truck lol. It would've been so cool if someone made a replica of Dustin's bus! The BARN BURNER!
I loved doing that when I was 18, I installed a PA in my Jeep. If you can see, they are playing Van Halen through the CB Radio, which occasionally the older CB Radio models also had a PA mode that you could switch them to and hook up to an external speaker.
I actually seen someone who owns a dodge very similar to bill's. If i didn't already have my own truck i definitely woulda asked if it was up for grabs
Twister 2 is setting up for filming right now in Chickasha OKlahoma. My home town. Filming I think starts on the 20th from what I am hearing. Lots going on the location at this time.
That’s almost correct. The truck in the movie was a 3500 V10 SRW. Rare for 3500’s to not be dually, but many were. But yes the sounds for the truck were the magnum 5.9 V8
In the scene where they are dodging all the falling debris, there’s a clip on the passenger side and if you look closely the door badge is the same badge you see on the 2nd generation dodge rams for the Cummins.
The Ram was product placement. The black Chevy Suburban dually that Jonas drove and Jo's jeep were the coolest cars in the movie. Dusty's barn burner was cool too
Oh come on. No other full size pickup had the look at the time. Even if it wasn't product placement, it was stated, the Ram was the best one for a main movie role.
I seriously doubt that they used two locations to film the drive in. In the movie there were those chevy trucks used by the other storm chasers. Im miffed that they arent being showcased.
The cow and the water sprout secne the telephone poles was on the left so y'all did come in the wrong side. I know I'm late but just for future reference and just trying to help
You Americans know why you got kph on ya speedometers? x3 Canada is for the thanking. :P I don't even need to look it to convert mph to km/h and from the Land Down Under.
