Hey WTW. I use to hunt with a .270. I liked reloading sierra 130 grain boat tail bullets in my winchester model 70 ranger. It would shoot 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. I did have to clean it real good with copper solvent one time to get the accuracy back. Also I free floated the rifle and glass bedded the first 2 or 3 inches of barrel from the receiver out. This made the rifle shoot so much better than it originally did from factory. I have owned a couple of vanguard's and both of them would not pass the dollar test down the barrel and stock. They both had barrels touching. This is probably why your rifle is opening up groups when hot. Try cutting a piece of credit card and put it up under the actions recoil lug in the stock hole to raise the action up then try some groups. It may take two pieces. Now see if you have contact the between barrel and stock from front to back. Check for contact on sides of barrel channel too. Sometimes there is just one pressure point under forward end of barrel from the factory. I liked all my barrels free floated on my rifles. I've always had better groups after doing this. None of them ever got worse. Doesn't hurt to try. Thanks for video WTW.😊

Ive got the same setup in 270 cal. The 150gr has been an absolute hammer for me.

I picked up a couple of boxes of 115gr Core-Lokt low recoil a few years ago. Though my kids would shoot them, but I can't tell the difference between them and 130s. I've shot everything I could find out of my Weatherby Vanguard 270, and Core-Lokts have grouped just as good or better than all the stuff that cost 2x the price.

I chose the rem corelokt ammo for my hunting rifles years ago. At the time it was a plentiful factory ammo and reliable. I had no problems with this ammo. I still use it too, but it is nor as readily available. I routinely shoot sub MOA groups with this factory ammo in several rifles including my 270.

I have hunted with Remington Core Lokt for about 15 years and love them! I’ve used them in everything from 243 to 300 win mag and they are devastating! I shot a buck last year at about 100 yards with a 300win and he dropped like most do but….. as I got to looking at the deer I noticed there was no pass through! After dressing and capping the deer I seen that I hit the should passed through a rib which made a massive wound going into the chest cavity….. took out the front of the heart and punched another rib going out and I found the bullet just under the cape on the opposite shoulder. It held together beautifully but did have to throw out the front shoulders of the deer.

Core lokt. My go to ammo all of my life. 30-06, 150 gr is a great choice for whitetail. Until recent times, this ammo was plentiful, cheap and great shooting.

Great video, as always. That's a pretty Vanguard. My first and only Vanguard, bought in the very early 90s, was a matte finished .270 that came in a cheap, plastic Ramline stock. I put an older Japanese-made Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 (the ones with the yellow front lens) on it. Great rifles. Vanguards are still made by Howa in Japan.

I have an older Remington 700 ADL witch is my first hunting rifle. It loves the core lok in 130 grain. And about 20 years later my wife bought me another Remington 700 BDL in 270 win also it like’s the core lok but it love’s the Hornady SST in 130 grain. Now the reason she bought me the rifle was because it’s very used and thrown behind the seat of my old truck or riding around in the gun rack. And now my two sons wants the old gun because they both shot there first deers with it, and my grandson wants it to.

Grabbed a box of Core-Lokt 150s (round nose) to go with my Power Point 150s. Just decided I wanted to back off the gas and go slower than the 130s for down in the woods use. I don't need 3000+ FPS to catch and dynamite a 150 pound deer 75 yards away.

It’s one of the most popular calibers for good reason, and that Core-Lokt holds it own. I’ve never owned a short magnum caliber for good reason: it’s too dang high-priced!

Core- lock's is all I hunt with in my 270 I never have had to track a deer !

This ammo has worked for me for years. It may not be the most absolute accurate stuff but never had an issue out to 100yds. My Winchester 70 Featherweight has roughly the same profile barrel and granted it does string when it gets hot but not nearly as bad as a Weatherby Vanguard. I have one in .300 Wby Mag and while it may be a big round, the 4th round onwards it has a significant drop in accuracy, same as most other ones. They are great for the first 3-5 rounds or so depending on caliber but they are certainly one trick ponies. Still excellent rifles for hunting.

My 270 is definitely cheaper: Remington 783. But I can cover 3 shots with a quarter at 100yds! I only use 130gr core lokt too. 🤘😎 THAT was a really fun video

I love my synthetic vanguard. I 100% agree with you… very accurate till they get warm. Weatherby doesn’t make those glossy vanguards anymore, or the stainless ones.

That’s the only bullets I buy. I shoot 150 grain in every gun I hunt with. 270 30 06 30 30 7 mm mag. 7 mm Mauser. Never lost a deer. I’m 60 this year. It works for me. Last cout years ago killed over 100 deer.

Great video... I've used the Remington Corlock in my 30 06 for 30 plus years. Love the Ammo. Wish it was more available.... I've killed deer and cyote over the years with it. It does a good job with out the big price.

Hi Adam I'm from Namibia and had a 270 Marlin with these bullets, very accurate. I could drop Springbuck, Kudu an Oryx up to 300m, headshots and neck shots. Even body shots was no fuss, no tracking at all. For me the best hunting cartridge. Thanks for such an awesome channel. By the way, I saw Ron Spoomer the other day with a 270 with a 26inch barrel and 7.5 twist. What's your take on that.

I use 150gr & 170gr Core-Lokt out of my Winchester model 94 but I have not figured out what my Savage Axis likes yet in 30-06 got to recite it in has a new scope on it.

My favorite rifle caliber. I've taken many moose, black bear with the 150 gr Core-Lokt. I have reservations on shooting a griz with it, but I know it's been done.

I love my .270 and have taken alot deer with it. Right from the start I could never get a group that I was satisfied with using the Remingtons. I know people that love them and take deer every year I'm just not one of them.

Got a ruger m77 in 270 shot a bunch of deer with the core loct out of it. Never lost a deer with that combo. I just picked up a savage model 114 in 270 going to try the core loct in it.

I'm always getting heart shots at a hundred yards with standard Core-Lokt in my .270 Remington 783 with a Leupold V2 scope. Hard to find now and if you do, it's twice what it was selling for before the pandemic. Good thing l bought plenty before then.

Have you thought about getting a chamber cooler? I bought one and it cools the bore down quick. Enjoyed the video. Keepem coming.

I love my Model 70 in .270 like a best friend. It's my desert island choice.

Weatherby has always been notorious for not liking a hot barrel. My 257 Weatherby Magnum is good for about 3 shots and I gotta let it cool down and that's in the fall when it's cooler. On those cold deer season mornings I've never used passed 1 shot so I don't know how it does when there's still frost on the ground.

When some one decided to make the .270 why didn't they use .284 dia. Bullets?or better yet just use 130 gr . .30 cal. in their .30'06?

I think every bullet you fired was minute of deer. CoreLokt is good stuff for nearly plain vanilla ammunition. Shoot the 150 grain load. I'm curious how your Weatherby likes that one.

I can't wait until deer season so I can harvest a deer with my Winchester model 70 that was made in 1968 I spent a lot of money on different ammo and wasn't happy with a lot of it and my brother goes try these monarch 150 grainers and believe it or not I got the best groups at 100 yards with that monarch 150 grain ammo 1/2 inch groups and it was way cheaper than all the other stuff I spent money on

I have a Mossberg ATR 100 in 270. It does good with Winchester ammunition. Mossberg quit making the rifle back in 2015.

Adam Got to love the 270 . Remington core lock shoots great in my Model 70 Winchester. Now the Winchester 130 hunting ammo shoot great in my Remington 700 in 270 Go figure. My 1st 270 is a Santa Barbara Mauser it eat both of them nicely. Yes I have killed lots of Deer with a 270.. So far I have 2 Whitetail tags waiting on a drawing for a Buck Tag. Good Shooting young man.

G'day, It's hard to go past the .270 Win. I had a big weekend with the .270 and .223, 200 & 500 rounds plus a few thousand .22LR. Drilled holes in (through) an I beam (about 10mm, 3/8 thick) at 100m with 130 gr soft nose Sierra.

Neighbor son came over last yr day before deer season asked if could sight in his 270 with the core lock ammunition 100yrds fired one round dead on called him said was good to go

Shot a whitetail doe 120 yards out last year's hunt with this round and dropped her at point of impact not even a tail flicker. Used the core lock in my 12 gauge bolt action a couple years prior aprox 50 yards out that deer ran about 5 yards then down. Good ammo for hunting in my opinion.

Watch mason leather ballistics gell test bullets at 100 yds. The Corelokt is amazing. It sheds weight to penetrate. I will explain he tested Federal 180 grain 30-06 and it retained like 85-99% weight and opened to 2.6xs the size. Corelokt psp 180 06 opens to 2.6xs the size and has huge initial wound channel. But get this the Corelokt sheds 28% of weight and is consistent in this drops to 2xs the size as box says and penetrates how much more. Again same initial damage. Hi shock Federal uses hot core or grand slam she goes 17 inches in the corelokt with same initial wound channel penetrated average 27.1 inch. If I sand end of my corelokts even I get 1/4 inch out of my good rifles. Now 7mm-08 in ballistics gel you get 28 inches with 140 psp corelokt nobody has ever improved this that's why all my 6 main rifles are set up for tipped, round nose or psp corelokt they kill really well.

Who tee that is my round but u know that . I have the rem 700. I love 270win. rem. corelokt. Ur my hero who tee. Keep up the research. Knowledge is knock down power.

I've never tried Remington Core-Lokt. Might have to check it out Sir. I've shot 22Lr thunderbolt through my BuckMark Rifle and have gone astray since. Thunderbolt ran really dirty. Often time's causeing some debry to kick out burn my fore arm. So I never shot Remington ammo again.

270 core lock got me .25 moa out of a super cheap Remington 710. Was freaking crazy but ended up stolen. Dobt remember if it was 130 grain or 150s

I finally got to take my Henry 450 bushmaster out to 200 yard range! I was nailing a 16oz monster can at 200 through 100 yards. It has a distinct little drop at 200 yards but otherwise it's very flat! That's my deer death cannon. But suddenly I kinda want to go buy a 270.

Ive owned a 270 , but I'd pick up my 3006 , my dad's cousin had a 280 ,I wanted to try out but never got the chance to. I've killed deer with it he same as , with more different calibers . A 300 savage will, surprised you too running with a 308 Winchester

Shot the Core-Lokt in .300 WM, 7 MM Rem Mag, 270 Win, 30-06, .308 Win, 25-06 Rem, and the .243 Win. All worked great took many many White-Tailed Deer.

Lucked up and found a box of these at a pawn shop just the other day so I bought them for my 270 Savage model 110.

Deer? One shot with 270 core-lokt 150gr on my cow elk at 302 yards.......She was rolling down the hill dead before I could put the rifle down to look. Core-lokt accuracy is fluky like your first group though...tough to get groups much tighter than that with it, but close enough to get the job done.
