tbh manufacturing the jeff is more simpler compared to rivaling 4th gen fighters and thats not a bad thing, its good for faster and cheaper maintenance
Some years ago I went to an air show in the Middle East. I visited the HAL stall. I asked if I can have a tejas. They were very happy and said Yes. They informed the first sample will be free, more can be had on Suppliers Credit. Then they gave me a samosa. It was half cooked and had no filling in it. At an other stall I gave the half cooked samosa to a Bedouin camel on display! The Bedouin camel refused to eat it. The stall owner was very cross at me. I was accused of trying to poison their tank. I went to visit Pakistan Air Force stall... There I had some fantastic tea with indian air force pilots. It was Feb. 27th.

An iaf MiG-21 shot 2 crows and 4 trees and lost a Mig-21, a SU-30 and of course they did their own Heli. PAF's loss; a cup of fantastic tea. This is one stigma (amongst numerous) india will never come out of. Its a permanent disfigurement.
Forgot to inform CIA inspected Pak F-16s, all were accounted for. Wreckage shown by indian media was not an F-16. This was pointed out by indian media! Layer of lies upon lies, upon lies.

No AESA, maybe for the time being. Anyway, I've stopped watching it after 5 minutes. Aviation enthusiasts are never mesmerized by the local British accent. Badly discontented.

So many area where productivity can be increased by just changing the equipments. Less usage of composite materials. Not a good sign for our aircraft manufacturing industry. Time to privatize this industry to increase productivity. Turkey is a good example how public private partnerships worked for fastest growing defence manufacturing industry. Govt owned enterprises can never ever achieve private sector efficiencies.
A private enterprise would need very deep pockets and will cost more to govt's ex-checker, there's also the question of research and design as well. What you say is more a perception, not considering actualities. Equipment require finances, larger volume of finished goods (JF-17 here) also need funds. What you see here is based on what possible in a given situation. Any enterprise can achieve efficiency if managed.
