27WON Catback Exhaust Clips - DISCONNECTING Adaptive Sound In the Type R 

That howling sound is the turbo spooling up! I love it your boost is going increase from 22-23 to around 25-26 psi. I have the same exhaust and 27won intercooler and race 90a motor mount as well.

This is one exhaust I had considered buying when they still made the 80mm piping version because I needed the unrestrictive flow and the fact it has a Helmholtz design muffler to cancel out drone frequencies. 27WON does not currently make it any more in 80mm piping and is now made in 76mm which is 3”. I have had the Fujitsubo full titanium fk8 exhaust which also has the Helmholtz design but piping is 70mm which is 2.75” inside diameter piping. I love the Fujitsubo so much because of the deep tone and virtually none to very little drone. Being that Im on a big custom turbo kit and wanted the most flow with the least restriction but also keeping it light weight. You could say I wanted my cake and eat it too! I bought the titanium single exit Tomei exhaust which is 80mm titanium piping with a long titanium resonator but no muffler as it is designed for track use and very loud. I had a local fabricator, Kuya fabrication out in Socal, modify my Fujitsubo exhaust by adapting the Tomei 80mm ti piping to the Fujitsubo ti muffler section welding 80mm titanium vband flanges and stainless steel vband clamp to connect it at the muffler section. It came out great and is now a bit louder but still quiet at cruising speeds but on wot it growls with a deep throaty tone coupled with the pops and bangs my tuner DB added on it sounds amazing. The 27 WON is still a good option for a full flowing exhaust with minimal drone but a little too heavy for what I wanted in an exhaust.

I've tried a few different exhausts for the R. Once you add a downpipe, and Quality FK8 exhaust has drone.. I've yet to hear one that doesn't. I've been thinking about adding a resonator to my AWE Touring but I'm not super stoked to weld anything on there. The 27Won is the only other exhaust I would buy. It's super tempting lol. They make amazing products and their customer service is top notch.

Have you tuned your type r, thinking of doing so, also is there another way of leaving the oem exhaust pipes but changing the sound of it ?

You did disabled it, but on mines, its only noticeable on R mode, Sport & Comf doesnt make the fake sound audible at all

Hi Kevin, In a RHD (right hand drive) is the unit still located behind the glovebox?

Might as well disconnect the ecu harness, so you don’t hear anything. 🙄🙄
