Something I learned in Rebirth: sneaking with broken limbs, injured torso/head, and encumbered helps level up sneak massively, since it lowers your actual sneak level, which is what's used to determine how much xp you gain from sneaking around low level npc's like the slaves.
I imagine plate armor and chain shirts would also help since they reduce sneak so much too. Also sneak levels with the amount of enemies nearby so bigger the group bigger the xp. Hungry bandit hoards are great since they are one of if not the biggest NPC squad and if you get caught, it's fine since they are so weak you'll probably live even if you are too encumbered to run.
The slave start is ironically one of the best if you want to level up some useful skills like lockpicking, laboring, sneaking and athletics. You can even fight the guards for combat experience with no consequences, though you'll almost always get knocked out too fast for that to really work. If the guard is distracted with another slave, maybe.
I found this out also when they captured me in the hub for trying to pick up a wastelander female I had knocked out to rob and still wanted. Didn't know I could have just gone there and bought her got enslaved and spent four hours trying to escape to only die from the lost leg and then taking my food or the bandits maybe took it.
i like to mess with animal, but with animal that don't eat you if you are in coma, if no problem with your food & medical supplies, In just 15 days, can easily rise toughness to 90++ and dex to 30++, and if also train martial arts, with that duration, can easily rise dodge to 50++ and MA to 40++, also if you in play area of animal/monster, you can raise stealth too, if it hostile to you it become faster.
The best sneak training is attacking and then escaping enemies and then sneaking around them when they stop chasing you, while the game has them flagged as a enemy. Sneak stat sky rockets.
This definitely works. I have seen a lot of posts and comments previously suggesting things like sneaking around outside a building full of enemies to powerlevel your sneaking, and I have tried this myself and it doesn't seem to actually work unless you aggravate them first. Even if the mouse pointer turns red when you mouse over them, that does not appear to be enough by itself to count them toward stealth XP. There seems to be a certain timespan after enemies have been actively acting hostile toward you that their presence anywhere nearby counts for stealth leveling, but if you don't aggravate them it only seems to apply to your stealth leveling if you're in a position where they would have detected you if you weren't sneaking... which means sneaking around fifty yards behind a group who weren't looking for you in the first place, or around a building full of people with no way to detect you're on the other side of that wall, does little to nothing.
Fun fact I learned while looking up Bulls vs Garru last night. HN domesticated bulls have their horns cut, and so do blunt dmg-which does extra dmg to robots and armored foes; while Wild Bulls do cut dmg, which causes bleeding against fleshy foes-important detail. Garru heal faster and have more health, but have lower combat/str stats overall-if that interests you.
I believe Garru are faster as well, which is why I preferred them for my supply/loot/drug runs (they can kinda outrun a beak thing when fully grown and trained)
@@jefbord I could see that. Ive never really used animals in Kenshi beyond the odd dog here or there. But in my headcanon, I think the Garru are native to Kenshi-like the Hivers-where speed seems to be key to survival. Meanwhile Bonedogs were genetically modified to provide protection-like the Shek-even sharing their boney appearance. Where as Bulls and Goats were brought to the moon with humans. Bulls most resembling greenlanders, farmers/traders. While goats fit better with scorchlanders, providing the non-farmers with food and being more nomadic. Even the Skeletons have their counterparts. Where Skeletons are machines based off humans, robo spiders are machines based off native skimmers/spiders. Tldr; Garru-Hive Bonedogs-Shek Bulls-Greenlanders Goats-Scorchlanders Skeletons-Robo Spiders All things balanced. As they should be. Except Beakthings. Beakthings are just a fuckin menance.
@@Ruhrich92 hmm now that you mention it, garru are indeed derpy, just like hivers lol On solo character runs I like bulls more, dont need that much bulk inv and they're more useful in a fight. My entire colony eats beak thing meat. Got a dedicated bunch of polearm wielding egg harvesters in one of my runs hehe (I agree early game they're absolutely terrifying)
Heres another tips 1. Sneaking near enemies make your sneaking skill goes faster 2. You can use downed animal as a training dummy, just put it in bed (train dex and martial arts no limit) 4. You can easily train thievery skill by stealing downed enemy gears or items
@@uncorr6982 Some people don't care about that and of course that's fine, but yeah, I would say exploits shouldn't be presented as 'gameplay tips'. Intentionally exploiting unintended game behaviour = Cheating. PS: Not meant to judge those who use exploits, or cheats, you do you.
a.try defeat caravan, and steal their garru that have item in its bag... put the garru in your prisoner... every day the inventory will refresh, you can have free food free material etc once a day... b.if wanna train attacking with animal on bed, just train melee with heavy inventory and lowest quality samurai armor. c.if dont have peeler machine blueprint, but you wanna install robot limb asap,go to fogland. go lock your self in the pole, unlock the pole firat and wait until hive eat you... make sure you have the robot limb in your inventory, after they eat your leg pause the game and equip the leg limb then run and heal... after that do the same again after they eat your arm install again the arm limb the run.while the hive eating you you will train your stats too. and the same way you can train your animal companion endurance like that too... d.hold left click then interact with things in rebirth can made you run from rebirth in just a minute. and many many more.
On the Don’t Reload tip, if it’s your first run or so.. do not be afraid to reload. Quicksave with F5, try out that fight, get killed, reload, and then don’t do that fight. I don’t think Kenshi is the kind of game where you want to be reloading with every lost limb (I only play Hive Only for the record) but when you’re dealing with your first settlement raid, stumble across your first Murder Giraffe, or just ventured into a new region, it’s nice to be able to get a gauge for where your party is at. It’s humbling and makes the world feel scarier than just avoiding every fight you aren’t 100% sure you’re gonna walk away from.
You might be right... Especially for beginners loading saved game might be less frustrating. Maybe I have different point of view on the gameplay. I like to learn the hard way and making anything easier is spoiling the game for me :D Thanks for your opinion!
@@MaximalFreak same for me, the harder the game the more enjoyable to me, after I watched this video, I'm thinking to start a new game without load save this time until all my people dies
@@MaximalFreak sorry I meant to say I'll load save only if everyone dies lol, I have a question: does Penalties stats give me more exp? for Example: if I wear a full heavy armor and use a katana, does that mean I'll get more dexterity exp?
@@onenaser Definitely works with some skills. If you have hands that lower your lockpicking skill and sou train lockpicking, it should be easier to level. Not sure if that works with every skill though :/
Yay actual tips and help with the game. It seems like any videos you search for about this game are people just non stop memeing every 5 seconds to even understand it lol.
The load thing is an ok tip, but I had like 4 hours of game, and my character would've died a 100 times if I didn't load, I didn't even have time to learn most game mechanic yet I was rided by bandits a lot of times, so, may be it's ok for the learning curve.
Of course you can use loading as much as you want and it makes sense when you are new to the game. For me exploring the game carefully and playing with consequences was much more immersive tho.
@@MaximalFreak well, I understand you, but this kind of game with many complex and hidden mechanic I think are not very friendly with noobs, many people can get frustrated by dying or get beaten to almost death by the beginning, me for example; but may be when I learn more about the consequences, I can try play more hardcore.
@@MaximalFreak I agree. It's much more rewarding and satisfying winning a seemingly unwinnable fight. Also having characters die on me makes mo become more attached to them and actually care about them more. This game is wonderful I can't believe I just started playing it
@@1anfinity08 Enjoy then! Also if you wan't to make it more challenging or maybe you will get too used to it, I recommend you to try Universal Wasteland Expansion modpack. It's something Im really enjoying now as it makes the game harder, it removes some cheese tactics from game, makes game more comprehensive and it pushes the game towards the style I would imagine it to be
If you want to escape as a slave, always use the water as guards does not follow you in deep water. Also you can use other prisoners as a distraction to escape if you free them first.
Try to bandage core wounds (head, chest, stomach) in the middle of a fight. When you get knocked out, the bandages will continue healing you, and keep you from dying. Then you can lose and survive without needing someone to save you. (Just don't do it around things that eat you).
I'm still learning both editing and English. I can see that I made a lot of progress in english but it's not perfect at all. What do you think about my english? Is it too bad? Thanks for your opinion!
@@MaximalFreak SHIFT+F12 And you just click on a house or any object. And you get arrows and menus and stuff. You just need arrows. And the important thing is. For the changes to become real in the game. You have to save, load.
An important bit is that, in order to edit interiors while in F12 mode you need to first click on the building you want to edit and then click on "edit interior" button that shows after you click on the building. Gotta be careful doing edits in this mode with the npc nodes (the little green manequins that appear near interactable objects) while doing tight edits. For example, this mode is useful for placing separation walls in a much more tight spread than you would be able to normally, allowing you to leave no gaps, but your npcs will process whatever you move in this mode as if it was still like when you first put it down, making them liable to run through separation walls, furniture, etc. which breaks immersion a bit. Just my 2 cents.
i hate failure....... yet this game is a lot like baseball. u are expected to fail. and those failures make ur char better. and the leg upgrades is cool i had no idea. so new to the game and loving it. this game is sooo underrated........... the dev, devs who made this game did amazing. my #1 bitch is ofc graphics. 2nd be load time. but that also partly my pc fault lol
It gives me that dark souls vibe except rather than retrying the same fight with the same enemy over and over (because it's literally impossible due to lack of player skill input) until I can defeat, I just suffer and fight to the death over and over, always growing stronger until I can go back and destroy those same enemies
@@Annu-- Confirmed? They are already wornking on it, share news about it and search for people to help them develop the game! It's more than confirmed and we can't wait for it :D
Thank you very much for this feedback. I have already an idea of sort of playthrough, but its gonna take a lot of time as I want it to be entertaining.
"...did you character died because of mistake. You should live with consequences..." well if you play with one character, its game over and you have to load or start new game.
i wish i learned about that ctrl shift + F11 alot quiker. my guy got stuck in a building in squin ( alway this damned city ) so long story short im at war with the Shek xD
Raptors are usually the first things I actively fight if I have a human character. Their attack animation is so slow you can manually dodge out of the way, and separate squads of them do not aggro you even if you are attacking one. They aren't as profitable as beak things, but their animal skins make for a passable source of income that won't bore the shit outta you like mining.
Yeah maybe raptors arent that bad. My worst experience is with goats tho. You think they are easy to kill, bcs they are goats. And they gonna absolutely trash you in few seconds.
@@samuryebread1065 If you're human, have a human man, or the number of humans in your group are equal to or more than the number of non-humans, I'd suggest Okran's valley. the river rapters there are even weaker than the swamp ones and the holy nation will attack them on sight meaning that you can easily collect their hides from the entrance of blister hill in your down time if you're injured. another option that is a bit riskier would be near the slave markets west of Catun if you can make the journey. its on the edge of the swamp and swamp creatures often times regularly pass through. the slavers don't really bother to kill raptors, but they will deal with any blood spiders. turtles are also in the area which while more dangerous on a technical level (they have no attack animation making it hard to gauge dodging), they are a lot easier to kill than goats and give a good amount of meat. The only other place I can think of where you can easily fight raptors is shark, but due to pathing in the swamp, its a bit harder to control your squad and you would have to go through the swamp and potentially get fucked up by spiders before you get there. If you do reach it though, the raptors that pass through attack the rice fields there meaning you can engage them in the town rather than out of it.
After playing Battle Brothers for a period, I got fed up with the idea of ironman'ing in games where you invest time and effort into individual characters. That's too much time and effort permanently lost for what amounts to a dopamine crash. Feel free to reload, but if you reload after every little misstep, that will take a lot of enjoyment out of the game.
Of course that's an option. You can reload whenever you want. But for me reloading makes the game boring as it feels like cheating. For somebody else reloading might be just a way to enjoy the game.
Well I reload my game a lot as I'm not very good at hard games so it's how I learn how mechanics and fights work without my character just dying. I also started at rock bottom so that probably balances that out a bit.
Of course you might like your game different way. Somebody just want to relax with the game without loosing characters every time something wrong happens.
Your English is better than my 2nd language. Can you make a video or explain an easy way to automate guys to run from point a to b to train strength? In still learning, game has a high learning curve
@@MaximalFreak can you haul from one storage container to another storage container? when i select a guy, select a storage container and shift select autohaul, is the guy going to pull items out from the container or load items into the container?
@@joeydelrio I don't don't think so, only job you can give them with storage is "haul to". They take items automatically from it only if they need them (for cooking, building etc). There might be mod for it but I don't know any :/
It gives you a lot of xp. You can leave one character futher away and after fight you come with this character back and heal others after fight. Usually noone will die immediately and there's a lot of time to heal. Also fighting strong ememies with blunt weapons is easier option as they won't cause bleeding.
@@Sylvaard It's normal to learn, nobody knows how to play Kenshi from start. I was learning for a long time and even now with 450 hours in game I'm still discovering new things I didn't know about. You're welcome :)
100% chance of protection from the clothing. Wear boots anyway - they do matter - they're a second possible leg protection. Coverage is chance of protection, nothing more... Best to protect the leg with a 100% then get another chance with a boot.
That's my way of making videos, short and full. I would be bored If I would have to watch long videos with nothing happening in it. Also I don't want to waste peoples time by boring them.
@@Ruhrich92 It can happen to npc buildings, I was unable to enter buildings even if the door was wide open when I was new lol. I'm very grateful for ctril+shift+f11.

do not load is just a wrong advise. most loads i do, or pretty much ALL of em, come from the game beeing glitchy AF. turret gunners get stuck and starve. people glitch out of your base and getting killed in the next attack. your people lag into objects where they cannot leave and you cant pick them up. holy nation attacks you because you "missed" a prayer even though they never showed up for the prayer because they got stucked by bad pathfinding. you get your weapon stolen by someone and the stolen weapon isnt show in his inventory. you simply can not ignore loosing a meitou weapon to a glitch. list goes on and on when it comes to kenshi. we love the game for all it flaws, but telling someone not to load is just hillarious.
Of course you can load the game whenever you need, but my advise is about not trying to do certain actions and loading the game if it turns out bad. Like live with consequences for your actions. You tried to attack wrong guys and they beat you hard and put to slavery? Live with it. Do not load. Thanks for your opinion though! Maybe I should have mentioned better what kind of save loads I mean.
The game is way too janky and buggy to not reload yeah, characters getting stuck on terrain all the time and getting attacked while stuck is a good example, I despise savescumming but it's necessary some times in Kenshi
