I have these on an 1980's full rigid mountain bike I use as a grocery getter and they are great for confidently bashing into potholes, uneven pavement, manhole covers, uneven driveways on decaying urban streets. The kind of stuff that would have me riding evasively on my road bike. Who needs suspension. These give a nice plush ride.
I bought these tyres 10 years ago, the best tyres I've ever had! This year I bought a new pair at first glance they look the same but they are smaller and lighter! I measured them and they are smaller although they say they're 2.50 they're not they're almost half an inch smaller than the old ones and not the same quality
@@Stackedbmx Absolutely true! After 6 months of use the tires are much better, at the beginning they were too soft and light (compared to my previous Hookworms), I had the feeling they were going to slip over the rims.
I'll be straight up. All tires are slippery when wet but these are way better than most tires. reminds me of a dirt dirt which usually do better during wet conditions.
I just put a pair of these on my 2004 Specialized Big Hit (26 front, 24 rear) and they're incredible! They roll so FAST! Peddling on hardpack or tarmac is effortless.
Public disclaimer. These tires work great on asphalt, OK on dirt, but they have ZERO grip on gravel or in wet conditions. There was a tiny bit of gravel on the street while I was taking a turn and I was instantly sliding sideways.
@@Stackedbmx I was doing about 12 mph with almost no lean, but it was down the hill. As soon as I touched the gravel my front wheel went into a full slide, as the tire has no grip to grab onto anything. And when I say gravel, I mean few remnant pebbles from a nearby yard. When I was driving them on my slopestyle bike about 15 years ago, I don't remember having this issue, but then again the body position on a slopestyle is a lot more forgiving than on an Enduro bike with fully extended seat post which puts all of your weight on the front axis.
Hi.....I have a pair of Hookworms 26x2.5 and weighed they are about 1055g or something. I can't fix the leak tube in front, I thought maybe the tire was worn inside if possible? I just hear this man say the weight has been dropped considerably with newer ones? i would only need 1 for now. so having a lighter one on the front would be fine for now, it won't throw anything off?
The pattern was originally design for skatepark then the light weight bike eta came around and everyone stopped using it. Now they use it for big Bmx bikes.
It's 0.4 difference in width so the hookworms will need an extra 0.2 space on each side, check the smallest gap between your current tyre and your frame Or look up your frame/ bike on Google and see if there are any specifications on how wider tyre you can have Most modern bikes will fit these on fine
@@Stackedbmx Nice. I'm gonna build a 2000w ebike on a Schwinn Axum and these seem to be the best bang for the buck tires for holding up for lots of miles in road driving.
Got them on my Axum and been running them for 9months now... These tires go hard! I love the way they ride on my Axum at 60psi... They roll fast and handle anything
you have to make the decision if you can go bigger. look between the frame and tire that you are riding right now and see if it has a lot of room. if so go for it, if not stay similar size
I have a mountain bike 29er and during winter the nobbie tires are slow on bitumen and concrete are these safe to put on my hardtail 29er and cruise the bike paths safely ?
Cool tire, I might have to try these on my Big Ripper. They look a lot like 95/5 (road/off-road) adventure motorcycle tires; those grip pavement wet/dry at all lean angles and shred any kind of hard pack surface you want. I always hear people complain about sand or gravel on pavement which really has nothing to do with tires (sadly), so take a tip from the motorcycle crowd, don't try to accelerate, stop, or especially turn on that crap - you won't like what happens 😉 seriously, just don't do it!
could you tell me the tyre radius from the centre to the very edge for 27.5s when at 60psi, I am seeing if they will fit on my bike which is designed for 26s but fits a lot of 27.5s and I don't want to take the risk and then them not fit 😂
Quick question, would it be possible to use these tubeless? I have a mtb with tubeless mtb-tyres but most of the time i do wheelies on the street and the old tyres are worn down and now I'm looking for new ones preferably something like the hookworms and tubeless if possible.
Aye bro will crew aero mags bolt up to a 16t ride out supply freewheel outta the box for my 29cult devotion? I might order the s&m cruiser speedball freewheel wheelset for my raw colorway. I wanted mags tho....salute homie
