Guys it's not like Salem will change his playstyle just bc us lower level players think that it's lame or boring to see. If the strategy works, Salem will camp as much as he likes whether you like it or not.
if you're playing for a lot of money do whatever you can for it who the fuck cares honestly dude he's gonna have the money and we don't hes not gonna give a damn lol
I don't mean to insult you when I mean lower level players. Im just saying that these players make a living out of this game by putting months worth of work and they place high in major tournaments. The placing and skill gap between MOST players and top players (ZeRo, MKLeo, etc) is very large. Sorry if I insulted you in any way.
Salem accomplished a lot during the brawl days though. I think Salem didn't really go to big smash 4 tourneys until bayo came out because I think bayo is the character that fit him (I may be wrong about that but he's not just a nobody that just picked up bayo). You say he will go back to achieving nothing but he was achieving before bayo came out. I don't think they were at majors and stuff but I know he's been known in the competitive scene for a while.
Silent Nightmare He was a Brawl god. it's true that he didn't get noticed much before Bayonetta. But his item play is not from smash 4. You can see he knows how to throw a banana on shield and recatch it with nair and throw it again. Salem is a campy player but that is called playing optimal. He sometimes starts playing agressive in other sets to throw people off. And MU inexperience, how? Literally everyone starts playing Bayonetta. Just look at Tournament entries
Silent Nightmare sooo, Salem playing smart, having a strong neutral, adapting to zeros options through his patience, and optimizing all of bayos tools was wrong for salem to do? Please stop talking until you understand the definition of competition. And don't try to make an excuse of "camping is lame, salem doesnt deserve to get this far in tournament, he shouldn't have beaten (insert player name)," and if you're going to reply to this, justify your comment.
He did really good, but got his win against ZeRo in the wrong tournament. Beating ZeRo 2 times in a row is impossible unless you are Ally, is that simple.
Silent Nightmare done nothing? Do you know anything about Salem? You must be complete ass at this game to think that Salem wasn't doing anything but baiting a reaction. He was playing patient and everything, WHICH REWARDS YOU IN EVERY FIGHTING GAME EVER. Get your head out of your ass
Silent Nightmare I also feel like you think Captain Zack is the best bayo in the world but Captain Zack can't even beat anyone in the top 10. Salem is an amazing player and since you think you can do so much better with whatever character you play, you should go to the next super major and hopefully run into Salem in bracket to prove that he has 'no talent'
Man, the salt in the comments is unreal. Accept the fact that ZeRo's still #1 by a good margin and call it a day. And hold that L; he was fighting one of the best Bayonetta players in the world and won this convincingly.
A win is a win. It doesn't matter by how little or by how much. Zero won lol. EDIT: Zero didn't win "convincingly" as it was last game last stock, but he pulled through.
I know right. So many of think its about entertaining them lmao. "the set is boring" that shit makes me laugh and they obviously have no idea what its like to have a competitive mentality. Or being in a tournament for that matter. They are there to win, not to put on a show. 100% agree with u man!
I was rooting for Nairo and MKLeo and was really bummed out that neither of them made it to grand finals. ZeRo and Salem definitely played really well and deserved to be in grands, but I was hoping for a grand finale between two long time rivals. More so Nairo than Leo but Leo is more of a rival to ZeRo than Salem is.
david jurado I mean there's been many other tournaments with crazy amounts of talent participating such as Frostbite, Dreamhack Austin, CEO Dreamland, Greninja Saga, Royal Flush, Smash n' Splash 3, and he didn't win any of those. I can't remember if he attended every single one of those tournaments but just because there have only been 2 majors between that time doesn't excuse him from losing other events as well.
Dude but still Genesis was not that long ago. He won ZeRo Saga and Genesis in a row and that's amazing for a kid that just starting to play at the proffesional level. Leo also didn't played, CEO Dreamlannd, Greninja Saga, Royal Flush and Smash'N'Splash. The tier A events he has played since Genesis 4 are Umebura, Dreamhack, Frame Perfect and Frostbite (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 13th respectively). Not bad at all. He also failed horribly at Civil War as we all know (like ZeRo and many others). But all of that has served him to get the experience he doesn't have. All other top players are veterans, Leo is the only kid that is just now learning how to be a proffesional player. Now he is more dangerous than before, he has solved many issues he had, learned more matchups, became more clutch, learned a lot from the veterans like ZeRo, Ally, M2K. I'm pretty sure he has what it takes to be at ZeRo's level and even better him. He is doing the work and it seems that will be the case. To think he won't be able to win future big events just because he has not won any in the US in the last 5 month is kind of dumb.
Salty Zero hater bots coming to dislike the video cause Zero plays nerfed diddy and still claps the best and wins every diddy ditto while ignoring the fact that Salem plays bayo and tried to camp fucking ledges all game and use the time to win, lmao.
ESam, Komo, Tweek, etc. All of these players, and more played campy at some point. Hell, ZeRo camped with Sheik loads of times before they nerfed her needle and fair range. Also, a reminder: ZeRo camped against HBox at the Smash Invitational. And you're complaining about Salem playing somewhat campy against ZeRo. Get out of here with that hypocrisy.
Zero would make for a great Sonic main. Very campy, bait and punish style. but if he mained sonic im sure he'd be considered the most cancerous player in the world.
I love how the highly defensive styles swapped between players Salem camped first round and Zero walled out Salem Really shows the adaptation between both players lol
This is why Zero is the best, he reads the players so good, and keep his cool all the time! Most players will get frustraded and answere with an agrassive play :)
This set just wasn't that fun to watch to me ... Like game 1 was literally salem sitting on the platform and waiting for it to move. And that's it. Same with zero, just waiting on stage with a banana for the platform. I understand they're both playing to win, it's just extremely boring to watch. That's why I get hyped when someone like fatality or nairo make it to the grand finals because then it's almost non-stop action.
ZeRo is so much fun to watch and deserves his wins. Salem played great too. ZeRo had to play campy because salem wasn't approaching. I repsect both players. They aren't there to make it entertaining for you the viewers, they are there to win because money and there mentality is on the line. The entertainment happens naturally. If its not entertaining and people who bitch and complain about that shit no nothing about be a competitive player. also, people gotta stop bitching about characters lmao
Anthony Committe I agree with your points. However, that 1st sentence is just a straight up opinion. Fact is, most people just find him boring to watch including me. Not to mention that now that he pretty much dropped Lucina now, Persistent Blade probably won't be making a return any time soon. EDIT: this was meant for anthony committe
Couldn't have said it better myself. That's why Nairo and Fatality are my 2 favorite players. They go CRAZY. If people want to run away, why don't they just go play a Sonic game instead of a fighting game like Smash.
david jurado Yes. 9B I also have a little respect for, so I am exaggerating a bit, but my point still stands. Salem's play style, although not exciting, gets him results. He may not be consistent now a days like Zack, but at least he can make it to a majors GF. Case and point: this tournament.
Honestly the dlc made it worse, they had to be good or else noone would buy them. Doubles this tourney had 2 clouds most of the time and sometimes three. bayo allows less skilled players to do much better, not that salem doesnt deserve the second as he 3-0ed many players, so I cant decide which one is worse
GameHopper || Campy play is boring to watch and annoying to play against. I love the hell outta Smash 4, but it's a defensive game, which I don't like at all. That's one thing about Melee I prefer for sure
I think you do what you have to do to win, I wish people would stop comparing it to melee. I love all smash games really, least favorite being melee, but they are two different games in terms of style
Yeah you do what you gotta do to win. My comparison was perfectly valid though. Melee favors more aggressive play, Smash 4 favors defensive play. I prefer aggression, but I think Smash 4 is the better game.
blaze flip I mean I saw the same match and I didn't see Salem sitting on a platform and being campy. I saw him feeling out ZeRo's options offensively and acting/reacting accordingly. There are other top players / people that see it my way as well. You gotta realize that as boring as it may seem, they aren't playing for the viewers.
+Miracle--7 you just contradicted yourself at the end, and that proves my point They aren't playing for the viewers No one really shares your opinion if you wanted to be realistic lol "Feeling out his options" You mean what every top set has? If you want a good set go watch ranai vs zero or ranai vs ratio, want hype? Fatality or nairo as aforementioned
So diddy needs to be nerfed because one player is doing really well with him? If a jigglypuff main started winning every tournament, would we want to nerf her? Some of these comments are so stupid man
Good stuff to ZeRo but he wins like... almost every tourmament he enters... it's becoming very boring to watch him win over and over. Every time I see a Grand Finals video with ZeRo in it I think "He's probably gonna win but let's check it out anyway"
Rens He's getting that 2015 consistency again and as much as I love ZeRo I would like to see more wins from players like Larry, Nairo, Ally hell even Abadango winning something in the US again would be hype
He lost 2 out of the 4 latest big tournaments. Although I must say he has won everything he has played since Civil War except for those 2 tournaments. He is still beatable, but the consistency he is showing makes me believe he won't be soon. I think Leo, Ally, Nairo and Dabuz really need to step it up, I think those 4 guys are able to be smash 4 gods like ZeRo is but they really have to put the extra work. Maybe Mr.R as well, but he needs to work even harder. Top players really just have to play better, to take some tournaments from ZeRo and not get so many upsets like lately.
*crowd cheers for Zero* *Zero complains on Twitter following tournament about all his haters* Zero's an amazing player, but it's his personal attitude, not his playstyle, I can't get behind. It's like you just broke your supposed friend (Nairo's) heart and won Nairo Saga, a S-Tier event, and then you're going to cry on Twitter about people on Reddit and Twitter johning about him. Smh.
Master Siu It depends on the player they're facing. As a Bayonetta main myself I say that you have to download the player rather than playing the match up
At first I hated Bay gameplay because the character takes advantage of special/upair combos but Nairo does the same. And so does ally......and Larry........and fatality....wait that's the game? The funny part is Zero is the only one who rarely kills like they do because of diddy....but diddys banana and d-tilt is also broken. What is smash bros?
This was kinda campy by both players. Well Sonic, Diddy, Bayo and Cloud in Top 8....urgh Only a cancer Rosaluma from Dabuz missed in Top 8 to be complete defensive. I really enjoyed Luigi, Mewtwo, ZSS in Top 8. Mario and Marth was also okay. I was also happy to see a freakin' G&W & Duck Hunt in Top 16. Was really refreshing between 6 Clouds, 7 Mayonetta and some Sonics plus the all time favourite tiny banana slammer.
I want to preface this by saying I've read each of the 275 comments on this video at the time of writing this, and that the majority of said comments are in fact defending ZeRo. I'd also like to say that this was the most boring grand finals set I've seen throughout smash for me, and I've been around since melee, which means HBox camping. I just want to say that I don't like watching ZeRo and I have become less of a fan of his as time goes on, he just looks like he doesn't enjoy the game anymore, it's not because he plays Diddy, you can play an exciting Diddy (Zinoto for example). It just seems that ZeRo has been so caught up in his lust for winning that he lost sight of what he first picked up Smash for. I miss the ZeRo that would fuck around with M2K, I miss the ZeRo that would trash talk every Falcon main, I miss the ZeRo that didn't look dead inside when playing the game, it may be that Salem was playing a campy Bayo, and that was the only way to counter, but this was a shitty set, and I hope 2GGaming doesn't take that as a reflection on them, but as a reflection on how ZeRo has ruined the metagame to the point that people consider this hype. Play fucking Lucina ZeRo, and nothing else, if you really want this game to survive, because while you are winning tournaments, you're killing the game.
Holy crap this comment. First off, ZeRo is going to try his best to win. This game is everything for him. If playing campy means he will get the edge in a game, he's going to do it because this is a major and part of 2ggc. Not self respecting competitor will give up a win in order to appease some jims like you who don't know how a competitive mindset works. ZeRo has not lost the fun side of him. As of recently he started doing more entertainment content, and his streams are very fun to watch. He's winning tournaments because he's the best overall. The people he has lost sets to are 20+ people and that number will continue to rise as long he is still playing, so if you really think ZeRo is "killing the game" because of him being so good, how about you go out and beat him consistently YOURSELF instead of whining and complaining so you can "Revive" the game.
DiP KHaOs11 You realize that if nobody wants to watch the game then all of his prize money goes out the window right, 5k people left when Grand Finals started, and that's a trend. Furthermore, using "why don't you go beat him yourself" is a moot point, due to the fact that not even the top players in the world could do so. But remember this, any TV show is nothing without it's audience, this stays true for our beloved game, once his audience leaves, he'll have nothing/one to play for, and his will to win with little to no emotion will kill the game, and put him out of a fucking job.
Aquezine PvP Here's the thing though. You make good points, but again ZeRo doesn't and should not care about making people that don't understand how this stuff works. Armada wins A LOT of tournaments. Almost if not as much or more as ZeRo does as of 2016-2017, yet melee is still growing and is much older than smash 4. Same with ZeRo. We've had viewers even with ZeRo's streak and he will likely never reach that level of consistency ever again, considering that a lot of Grand Finals with ZeRo in this are very close and his set loss number is only going to grow, so I don't know why you think ZeRo's skill is going o kill the game because when he was at what like a 50+ streak the game still survived.
I guess, but I'm pretty sure ZeRo buffers the upsmash anyways so it would just lead with a missed upsmash. Although there were sometimes he caught ppl with another dtilt so idk.
Man, what a boring match. No offense, but that's true. It was just a match, and It took the same as one of those Winners semis where both players win a match ¬_¬
Lol this game is such shallow boring shit and you guys wonder why Nintendo ignores it. I wish zeRo would just play Melee it gets old watching him dominate a baby game.
lol no thats a terrible mindset to have you don't just nerf characters bc they have good options all those characters are good but they are not perfect the nerfing mindset is so narrow minded and deters from adaptation the only reason to nerf something is if its grossly unfair and none of those characters are unbeatable
