The video shows the 2nd phase training of bonsai adenium for big caudex and radial roots. Adenium plants have a natural bonsai like look for its root structure and thick caudex. So a little root training coupled with caudex training makes desert rose a perfect bonsai. Growing radial roots is not a difficult task. But selection of roots for the bonsai plant is more important because we need not all the roots. The present video demonstrates how the selection is made how to repot the plant and what to do after repotting.

Sir my one year old grafted Adenium is not flowering. The plant is healthy with big caudex but leaves as well as buds are falling off. Is it due to the anti fungus spray I applied?
@dotbasecamp
@dotbasecamp 5 лет назад
There are many causes of buds and leaves drop.Initially I`m not going into them. It`s a grafted adenium. So see whether the root stock is healthy with sucker branches or the grafted scion is .If the upper portion from the grafted point is healthy , it`s OK. But if sucker branches grow below the grafted point , cut them off immediately because the root stock feeds them only . This is the main cause of buds and leaves drop of grafted plant. Next check watering. over watering and under watering both are harmful . Whenever you apply water , be sure some water drains out through draining holes. Under water causes water cut off to buds. Now check whether the plant is pest or insect attacked. They suck the juice and cause bud drops. Some other causes are sun light, excessive temperature and lack of humidity, transportation shock . Last and I think most important , find out why you spray fungicide. Whenever you spray fungicide , spray it only to the affected area...........................................OK ? Have a good luck.

My codex of Adenium is very soft what to do with it... I want to train for radial roots please guide...
@dotbasecamp
@dotbasecamp 4 года назад
Soft in which stage ? After drying the caudex and the roots become soft. Repot the plant . Keep the medium moist and gradually it will become hard. Caudex becomes soft for want of water and rotting. Check which is your problem.

@@dotbasecamp actually one year back i cut the roots completely to grow radial roots after watching your video .. After one year the radial roots grown well but caudex become soft i want to repot this plant and train radial roots as like you.so i uprooted the plant and removed all fibrous roots. after applying antifungal power i hang the plant since two days..how many days i hang the plant is it right ? ...and what care should be taken to hardening the caudex...
@dotbasecamp
@dotbasecamp 4 года назад
@@spat2024 Hanging period depends on the weather and the plant size. Tiny plants can tolerate little drying where as big healthy plants can tolerate more. Anyway repot your plant it will take some 15-20 days to be hard. Don`t worry if it has not gone rotten. Good luck. Feel free to write.

Won't it be better to use perlite instead of thermocol? Can we use vermicompost or dry goat dung as organic manure
@dotbasecamp
@dotbasecamp 5 лет назад
Perlite is of course better than thermocol. Still I use thermocol as the cheap substitute of perlite which unfortunately I don`t have. Vermicompost provides time released nutrient benefit to the plant . Besides, it has other benefits . So it can be used . Dry goat dung may be good for adeniums ( I have no practical experience as i have no chance to use it ).
