2NE1 isn't the first girl group in YG. They're the 3rd but they were the most successful. YG had the very short-lived Swi.T and the vocal beasts, Big Mama. Big Mama aimed to prove that talent is more important than image as the members consisted of plus-sized women with killer voices. Unfortunately they were ahead of their time. Now, 2NE1 was a revolutionary group. Piggy-backing on the ideas of Swi.T and Big Mama, they went against the norm of KPOP. They opted out of the typical bubbly, girly image and went for a street, edgier, and female empowering one - which practically created the girl-crush concept in KPOP today. They were famous for their fashion, diverse discography, and the most important: live performances. Their success and accolades are too long to list but 2NE1 had a major role in influencing KPOP today. 2NE1 had global recognition way before it became a thing. Unfortunately they disbanded way too soon.

Bom after withdrawing from the public is now having a successful comeback. Saw some recent pictures and Bom is beautiful. Blackpink were trainees at YG when 2NE1 ruled Kpop with Big Bang.
