I was a fan, but to be honest, his work didn't age as well as some other producers' work. I wouldn't say any of his beats from that era (or ever) are considered classics, if we're honest. You'll probably disagree as a fan looking at it from a subjective point of view, but his work just doesn't compare.
One of the greatest albums ever recorded I still can’t see a hip Hop album that’s better allllllllllllll the way through no skipping 2pac knew this album Would sell 5 million plus
@@o.ghanylo617 johnny j was brilliant. Ric Roc too. Edit:Just realized Rick Rock "only" produced Aint Hard to find and Trading war stories along with Mike Mosley...but if youre only gonna have two tracks on that album, those two are pretty fuckjng dope.
In 1,000 years there will never be a combination of Talent like there was at death row at that time starting with Tupac. Just plain f****** Magic. Back when it was beautiful. People today just don't understand. It was perfect
Yes I agree.. even TDE and YMCMB still doesn't compare.. deathrow was the like yhe 96 chicago bulls of the rap game back then with Pac being the Michael Jordan of the music label 😅
Hail Marry was epic, still rocking it. Everything Pac made brought was 🔥, nothing was weak, or faded. Pac is like John Coltrane or Miles Davis, timeless.
Scandalouz was definitely a favorite. The keys at the beginning being played so nonchalant, the bassline. The track gives a very classy vibe for rap at that time. Thats art
You are right, I never knew this either. I always thought 2Pac’s first hits/soundtracks were done by Dre. BIG love ❤ and praise 👍 to Daz. I still listen to Ambitionz… and Hail Mary, weekly in my RU-vid playlists.
Not only that, but anolog to. Digital music destroys the spiritual vibrations of music and believe it or not, they know that. This is why vinyl records that once costed a few bucks, now cost thousands today. That is why they remaster music to, to keep it from uplifting that spirit and melanin like vinyl does
I get nostalgia as soon as that bass hits, “ Daz stop fucking around on that piano and drop that shit like uhhhh this here “ 😢 Daz and Pac undefeated *RIP JOHNNY J THO
@@Bigdaddytrips619 Why do you feel the need to come where people are admiring someone for their contributions to music and HATE. Something is missing from your life and you need to seek therapy.
@@Veteran0831 Hell For A Hustla is underrated af !! All of them Niggaz spit that shit on it . Runnin' On E (original version) is right up there with it . ✊✊💯
Daz is so underrated. Here’s another slept on production of his…that Fast Cars Faster Woman on Currensy’s Jet Life album. And all these tracks have 1 thing in common…super dope track intros!!!!
And props to Dj Quik for mixing and arranging the All Eyez on Me album. If you listen the originals (can be found on youtube), you can see how much that affected also. There were lot of great producers working on that. I also think Daz is underrated, but so is Johnny J who produced a lot of tracks for 2pac and on All Eyez on Me.
Could you please provide the evidence that DJ Quik mixed and arranged the All Eyez on Me Album? I only know of him mixing and arranging some songs on the Album but not the whole album.
All Eyez On Me was the first ever album I heard, first rap I ever heard when I was 10 years old in the year 2000-2001. Only album that ever touched my soul.
Ambition of a Rydah definitely was one of 2Pacs major hits! Let give Daz and Kurupt their flowers for Dog Food! That whole album banged from start to finish!
Everyone who was a death row fan during that era was well aware that Daz was dropping classics constantly at that time... He was a huge name among the fan base already
That’s why we bought CDs and tapes because we can look at the samples and who produced the beat to chop it up to give you a masterpiece. I miss the old school days. Remember, it was 2Pac who made it to where these artist got paid for their credits to contributing to the album. Not all made it to the credits like they were supposed to DJ Quik already referred to that.
All eyes on me has the cleanest crisp beats ever in hip hop, how daz did it is ridiculous, the crisp clean production still stands to this day, still some of the best production
I have to say that the song Scandalous has to be Daz's best work, IMO. That beat was magical, especially the background sounds, which I think is Daz's signature sound.
When I 1st heard the opening track, Ambitionz As A Ridah, coming off the Me Against The World lp, I knew he was going down a path he might not return from.
Don't forget to give soopafly his dues, he literally co produced most pac daz beats plus him and beats by pound had snoop on top from 1997-1999 during no limit era.
Yes skandalouz the greatest hip-hop production! That beat is so sick!! Daz is my favorite producer of all time! He have made so many classic beats. The Dogg Food album is crazy too. He still makes fire beats and his flow on the mic is sick too. I will take him over Dre any day of the week!
@@Who-I-be40 koo..i respect that. Especially for the early stuff in the 90s. However, there is no comparing post 2000s Daz to the masterpiece that is Chronic 2001. But again, i respect your opinion.
Sound good. But we’re they as anticipated, were they going through all the shit PAC has just went through, were they debuting on a powerhouse record label like Death Row?
Ambitionz is classic. They played the hell out of it on bay area radio...I always thought it was a single cause of that...but nope...just one of pac's best album songs ever
Timeless record! Daz said that song was already in the works & they had their own hook to it. Similar cadence but rhymed “saggin” & “flaggin” instead of “deny it” & “ridah”. Tupac made it his own & took it to another level.
Daz is so underrated. He did a couple of joints on the above the rim soundtrack. He did 4 songs on that murder was the case. He produced that whole Dogg food album outside of 3 songs. Ambitionz az a Ridah, Skandalouz, got my mind made up, 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted, & I Ain't Mad at Cha for Pac. That Skandalouz hits different especially with Nate on the hook. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That beat was crazy. I lost my mind when I head that "Pew Wee Herman" drum over the bass. "Ambitionz Az A Ridah" is definetly one of the tightest beats ever produced.
2Pac is the reason why Daz got music production credit, because before that everything produced on Death Row had Dr. Dre‘s name on it, but once 2Pac came along and said whoever made the beat he’s going to get production credit, and that was the beginning of the rift between Dr. Dre And 2Pac
Daz was the sound of DeathRow he did more than people think when it came to a lot of songs dr Dre got production credits for I mean he taught daz a little and so did Warren g but then daz had his own sound all the hits a lot we’re daz production
Ever since Dre left Death row, how many songs, produced by Daz, do you remember? How many of them (including albums) went platinum, and how many of them scooped awards? Especially when Daz was the main Death row producer.
Daz was a super dope producer in his prime! He still makes dope beats but I believe if he would've concentrated on producing more than being an artist, he would've had more popularity amongst other artists and had a greater catalog of hits!! Daz definitely needs to get more credit as a producer!!
