The song is about having an aneurysm and slipping into death musically and lyrically. That's why the drum beat mimics an erratic heartbeat. The video visually portrays the lyrics extremely well. I recommend reading their lyrics it's very visceral poetry that tells a story.
A little backstory this song was made on a computer first and it took them months to learn because it is so intricate and difficult. This is a drummers heaven
The way it should be done. Most "Artists" these days would just release the computer generated version, what happened to music? Why does it need to be autotuned and time aligned all the time now? oh dear.. here I go again. I'll shut up now.
@@Charlie6969 Nah, I wouldn't worry. There's lots of wonderful modern music being made, and there's a lot of incredible talent. You just need to look in the right places :)
Now you gotta watch the Thomas Hakke cam when he's drumming live! He basically had to learn how to use his feet all over again just to be able to perform this.
The drummer was injured for like 7 months because of this song! It's crazy. On top of that there's the complete version which is longer and it's the version they play live. Love from Argentina grannies!
Greetings Argentina. We’re thrilled to have you watching. I realized right at the beginning that this drummer was amazing. I hope he’s recovered well from his injuries. It’s easy to understand how he got them. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
Thanks babies. We love each and everyone of you too. The guitars and the drums are extraordinary. I’m glad we finally got to it too. Just takes a little while. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
The drums on this is..INSANELY PHENOMENAL!!! I will have to watch the video a few times to grasp the concept of the video..just being honest..its really creative though!! Beautifull done..its a balance of Dark n Light aspects..this is just my first impression! Your faces are priceless i just adore you both!🎶🎬🎧😘
Thank you babies. We always appreciate your kind words and we appreciate knowing that you’re watching too. We try to watch you guys everyday also. So nice to see you growing. Keep on rocking. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
Meshuggah is one of the most insane bands I have ever had the honor of seeing live, totally insane both with the energy they deliver everything and the music they compose! The singer got one of the funniest faces when he head bangs tho, shoving his jaw forward and nodding upwards instead of down, reminds me of the most metal version of a pez dispenser ever 😂 haha
You grannies should check out Portrait of A Headless Man by Septicflesh, they're considered atmospheric death metal and they record with a full orchestra
I have been listening to this band since my high school days and they are just amazing. This is another great metal band. The rocking grannies have done it again. Hell yeah.
You can do something like that with any song because we’ve truly never heard 99% of these songs and don’t know there’s other existing versions. Thanks babies and keep on rocking. ✌🏻🎶🖤🤘🏻
@@nanaking9560 i just don't understand why there is a 5 minute version of an 8 minute song. Thanks for your reactions. FYI, Jinjer just announced a new single and video drop on Wednesday.
Haha yes I’ve waited for this distinctive sound to grace your ears! Thank you Can you do “Behemoth” next? “At The Left Hand Ov God” should be a fun song
I know it took a while, sorry about that, but we said it was coming and we feel it was definitely worth the wait. Great song, great video & great band. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
Greetings Germany. Always glad to have you watching. We didn’t know anything about this band before either but WOW…..they’re pretty awesome. Glad we could introduce them to you. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
Fun fact; these guys have been a band since 1987, they are the grand father's of djent, which is a type of technical metal. They are pretty much gods of metal. And they are still active to this day. My suggestions for future Meshuggah reactions would be Demiurge if you want something more palatable, clockworks for something technical and pretty much any of their songs if your just in the mood for something facemelting... It's pretty much their standard.
Thanks for the info and for the definition of what Djent Metal is. Sounded much like deathcore to me so I appreciate your help. Keep on rocking. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
My playlist consists of thousands of songs and hundreds of bands. Meshuggah is not the fastest of them or the most gruesome by any stretch. But for raw and crushing power, Meshuggah's Obzen album comes through my headphones with more punch than anything, with the small exception of only SOME of what Distant does.
Hey you finally got to this one! This band has been around for a very long time and immediately stood out from the pack as one of the most technically advanced of the time and will always be considered one of the greats. Their drummer is a machine 😛 Great video like always love you guys ❤️
the drummer Tomas Haake is my favorite drummer. in an interview he said it took him as long to record this song as it did the rest of the album...... you should watch the drum cam video of this song
I've seen meshuggah at a local metal fest in Pinellas Park ,Florida. They are BANNED from playing here because of so many noise complaints: one was for making a cat vomit lol.
So. Tomas haake had to change his entire playing style for this song actually. It's pretty fascinating from my favorite album "obZen" which I have tattooed on my arm. Bleed is about a mystic demon, if you remember the sigil on the mans palm he ended up bound to the demon and became one of the slave demon dogs.
@00:20 NK: I've never heard of Meshuggah until you guys started uh-.. ME: yapping..! NK: asking..! ME: ... 😑😅 ... 🤣 @07:00 Imagine an aneurysm, taking shape, haunting your every thought and emotion, kicking the body into panic, pain shooting through every cell of your being - unrelenting, merciless, all the while "gods" are haggling for your soul as they eagerly await your demise. To me, just terror. I cannot truly fathom the sensation, but just imagining the sensation - terror, in its purest form.
Thomas Haake, their drummer is a genius! They`re from northern Sweden and are really nice guys. Try out the drum cam version of "Clockworks"! Meshuggah is somehow the inventors of Jent, multirhythm metal, now you might know, why! 😁👍
@@Xeroforte bless you or whatever too..?? Lmao. Like RU-vid blessings matter lol. I know what you meant. But, still, you can't and won't do better than Shinedown. Come correct or don't come. I have never seen Matt the useless RU-vid guy on the billboard top 100 but I have seen Shinedown many times. Lmao
Oh god!! Sometimes I can't believe that you guys are doing a reaction on 'BLEED'!!FROM THE GODS OF DJENT MESSHUGAH!!!! WOW YOU GRANNIES ARE JUST AMAZING!! LOVE FROM INDIA!!!🇮🇳🇮🇳
Greetings India. It’s so awesome to know you’re watching. Thanks for your kind words and we’re very glad you enjoyed the video. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
I remember Thomas Hakke talking about this song in an interview. He said it took him as long to learn this song as it did the rest of the songs in the album. They almost had to pull this song from the album and the world would have been worse off for it.
That’s true but it’s pretty much like that with most songs for me. Guess I’m just getting old. Lol. That was a great song though for sure. Keep on rocking babies. ✌️🖤🎶🤘
My ex boyfriend took me to see them 17 yrs ago i had no what i was getting myself into. 🤣 Im 5 foot tall in a mosh pit trying to survive elbows to my face. Once i found my way out I literally sat in a corner the rest of the concert.😮 Not my scene but I was really fascinated by the fans . Lol
@@nanaking9560 thanks for replying i love when creators reply. Like I said straws pulled at random. And to be a metal need their not deathcore but thee originators of djent.
Thank you for Reacting to Meshuggah. Very much appreciated. As someone else pointed out, the video does not play the full song. I have no idea what the video fully means, but the guy with the three arms knelt at the rear is used on the album cover. Personally, I would have played something earlier with a less extreme video. Once again, thank you.
Its difficult to "count" (tap your foot, nod your head) to because hes playing a 4/4 beat on the hi-hat and snare but matching the offbeat rhythm of the guitars with his feet, creating a polyrhythm. Its the basically the metal version of tool. Its hard to tell you exactly whats going on and why its impressive without a full lesson in music theory and having you actually experience how difficult it is to play this even with many years of practice. Its technically unbelievable, and they play it live. Its no bullshit, these guys can actually do it.
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score ( Vocal Cover - Yannis Papadopoulos ) I will continue to request this from here on out! This cover is immaculate and needs to be heard by more. If you love Nightwish this cover will make you get goosebumps. (round 3 gonna keep track as well).
Good afternoon Grannies.Wonderful show as always. Just wanted to let you know f you have gotten new subscribers I have been pushing your channel. And everybody has seemed to like t so I hope that they have. Have an awesome evening. Love ya.
Thank you so much Janet. That’s so sweet of you. We appreciate everything that you and all of our awesome babies do to help support 2RG. I hope your friends have decided to join the Granny Squad. The more the merrier. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed this one. It’s totally brand new to us. As always, you keep on rocking babies and we’ll see ya on Friday. Hugs. ✌️🖤🎶🤘
In general i think the live versions or even the drum cam versions are better watches than the music video. In this particular case i feel it distracts from the pretty epic music.
We feel the videos are very important to understanding the songs and we enjoy them very much. Realistically, 9 out of every 10 times probably that you hear a song it won’t be with the video. We get where you’re coming from though and appreciate your comments. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
Great reaction, love Meshuggah. Orbit Culture just released their new song Flight of the Fireflies, I hope you’ll check them out, I know you’ll love them. They are like a mix of metallica, gojira, and meshuggah
Meshuggah isn't really deathcore however, they're more in the technical death metal/"djent" category, but undoubtedly one of the most rythmically interesting bands out there, this coming from a drummer.
I didn't scroll down to see if anyone else wrote this. Meshuggah is the Yiddish word for Crazy!!! I really like this band and have seen them in concert years ago. I don't think there is a real meaning to the song "Bleed" other than the words in the lyrics is about the Reaper calling and coming to take his soul is what I feel is the main point to the song and all the pain, doom and anguish he goes through until the Reaper has his soul. As the is told musically with the drums as the focal beat of the song he follows.
Thanks Philip. I believe you are the first to mention that Meshuggah is a Yiddish word meaning Crazy. That’s really cool to know. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
Please Grannies can you react to The Black Dahlia Murder? They have been my favorite metal band since 2004 and I would love to hear your take on it. Like Necropolis, Receipt or Moonlight Equilibrium (as they have music videos). Love from Norway :)
Greetings Norway. We’re so happy to have you watching. I can’t promise when, but we’ll try to check them out sometime soon. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
Summer greetings Grannies!! I hope you are both doing & feeling well. Like w/ most metal, if you can't understand the singing, reading the lyrics usually makes the song even better. I know how you love Avatar.. you should check out a video of their sometime just to see how creative they are in that respect (if you haven't already), as they're all really good. Carach Angren makes great songs & videos too.. they're fantastic storytellers (I'd recommend "Funerary Dirge of a Violinist" or "The Sighting Is A Portent of Doom") ~ Keep being the wonderful, amazing ladies you are.. Love you Grannies \m/
Hello Crystal. Seems like it’s been awhile. We’re all doing great at 2RG and hope you are too. Thanks for your suggestions. We’re definitely going to check them out and hope to talk to you again soon. Keep on rocking babies. ✌️🖤🎶🤘🖤🖤🖤
YESSSSS!!!!! Thrilled you got to check them out. Thank you thank you thank you! You need to hear the full version of the song from the album though! This video cuts off RIGHT before one of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded! This video is also super creepy haha. You should also check their video for "New Millenium Cyanide Christ" for something more lighthearted. You could also look into their live performances! They have an unbelievable stage presence. "Straws Pulled at Random" from Download Festival has a gorgeous outro you two will adore. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CeJy7txqs1U.html. I can FEEL it 😍
Grannies please find the reactions done by drumming teachers, you will learn how nuts thomas is as a drummer!!! Think he playes 4 different time signatures at the same time!
Love the video! please more dimmu borgir, woult love to see you guys react to the songs ''i am sovereign'' '' lightbringer'' and '' the empyrean phoenix''
We appreciate the offer but we do requests whenever we get to that particular song and not for monetary rewards. It’s just how we roll babies. Any other way we’d be so overwhelmed with requests and never get to them all. I hope you understand. Keep on rocking. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
The song and video had and effect on me that I can't really ignore. Hair stood stark up right, and I truly felt cold. Not in a positive way. I've been through a bit, and survived a murder attempt exactly 10 years ago. (PTSD is one of the factors that hurt not only me, but those around me too). This video carried me back to that time, and left me with very unpleasant feelings. End result? I simply couldn't enjoy, or even like anything that does that to me. On this extremely rare occasion, I cannot endorse it, in case other become mentally assaulted as well. Shame really, so much hard work, and so much talent was invested in the end result. Not your fault, not the bands fault, net even my fault. Every now and then I hate being me, just like right now. TTFN.
Oh my word Graham. So sorry to hear about your terrifying experience 10 years ago. That’s horrible. I’m gathering by what other fans are saying that this video is about an aneurysm. Don’t know really if it’s from the victims point or the aneurysm itself. Pretty scary either way. I hope the next video leaves you in a better frame of mind. Keep on rocking my friend. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤
@@nanaking9560 Thank you. That's why I never feel right about sweet young ladies dressing up sexy. I went out to distract 15 dirt bags from causing serious harm. And yes, they were dressed seductively.
