These values change according to the aspect angle, missile type, and altitude of the aircraft. The MAR is also referred to as (RTR) Range Rurn and Run simply stated it is a range off the bandit that if you go inside you can not escape if the bandit launches a missile at you even if you go cold or Turn And Run. The MAR changes based on Altitude (The higher the Altitude the Larger the MAR) and obvs the effective Range of the missile is dependent on what kind of missile it is, AMRAAM, R-27ER, SD-10. So when I say the MAR is 10 miles on the deck that means if I close to 4 Miles from the bandit and he fires a missile at me I have no chance to turn and run away. Only thing I can do is Notch (A topic for another day). This is a very basic explanation of the MAR. Here's something tip I learned that made my life so much easier in the Viper. On the HSD, the OSB labeled "DCPL" stands for "decouple" and means HSD range is independent of FCR range. Change that to CPL mode and now you only have one range setting to worry about. It sounds insignificant, but it was a huge SA breakthrough for me. You can also change "DEP" to "CEN" to center your plane in the HSD, if you anticipate turning cold and will need to keep track of bandits back there. I find that useful in an Amraam vs Amraam fight. I also extensively use a 10-degree azimuth scan on the radar whenever I have datalink, for faster acquisition and to deny a bit of SA to surrounding bandits by not giving them my nails.

It's amazing how we conquered the skies doing this stuff in real life, and now we're even creating virtual worlds where, in harmony, all those complicated physical laws work together in order to make these dogfights possible

Love this sim. So real! I was a medic(Canada) and went to New Orleans on exercise 429Sqn. Having done my medevac course I was qualified for high altitude. So when they came to me and said the back seat is empty do you want to go? Oh yesssss! It was 4v4. And I was told not to fuck up and not bother the pilot. So I’m sitting in the back and he’s explaining the radar and the task we where doing and all he’ll brocke loose. I was looking around never saw anything think he was at least 25 miles out. But what a blast that was. Awesome and this Sim is so real. All your missing is breathing so hard your about to shit yourself. Never blacked out though but I did have some tunnel vision. Thé outcome of the encounter is we lost all electronics had to guided back to base.

Could you imagine doing a tutorial series for beginners, who know the fundamentals of flying and wanted to get started in DCS? It seems that if air superiority warfare is to continue in this manner, an evolution in missiles would be wise investment. I wonder how difficult it would be to make stealth missiles that would give pilots little to no warning at all. Or if hypersonic missiles are the direction they're going, they just are so fast that there is no time to react. Something has to change, there's too many misses the way it is now.

Anyone out there as ancient as me!! I remember putting together my first Tandy PC and thinking wow.. pong is such an amazing game. Later I enlisted in the Navy (sea college program) and received orders to CVN-69 and found myself on catapults. Because I had some computer knowledge, no one else did, the V-2 division officer made me a Yeoman (secretary). The reason.... we had just received new 386 computers with 15” black and green screen monitors. We also received a free game in the computer box called JET. It was, literally, stick figure 3D f-16’s and f-18’s. Anyway we started playing jet and next thing every computer in V-2 not being used for work had become a gaming system lol. I understood right then that one day we would see simulators like this up and running. The dream of flying, of being a fighter pilot must be instinct. I first had my hand on a stick at the age of 3. My dad had a super cub and also flew a Piper Arrow occasionally. I played every possible simulation that come out including games on Nintendo like Rogue Squadron and PC games like Falcon and Chuck Yeagers flight combat.... Then life become too busy and I got my pilots license at 18 years and 1 day... 40.5 hours. 6000+ hours later.... 2000+ hours of full motion sim time...... thousands of hours of books, videos and documentaries and I still can’t get enough time in aviation! Lost my medical about 10 years ago.... have a neurological movement disorder. But, keep hoping to get back up on my own one of these days. I suppose the next best thing is videos like this, along with all of the videos made by people around the world. Aviation, in particular combat aviation, is a gladiatorial sport. It’s something primal, something beautiful and something terrible. I have flown with military and civilian pilots from: US, Mexico, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Germany, East Germany (dates me lol) France, Spain, England, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India, Iran (f-4 pilot for the Shaw), Brazil, Argentina, S Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand....... I’m sure I’m missing someone..... well you get the point.... as diverse as these nations are I found all of the pilots to be very very similar because of their love of flying, competition and the professionalism. I believe, if we could get around the issues of language.... of political and religious differences..... we could put Turkish pilots in a room with Israeli pilots.... Russian pilots in a room with US pilots and in minutes they would all be fast and life long friends. At the same time.... put them back in their fighters and they would do their absolute best to shoot one another down.... and then deeply mourn the loss internally.

I know it isn't a sexy topic, but have you ever made a video describing how to set up countermeasures profiles for different situations (How many chaff/flare, burst qty, interval, etc)? I haven't been able to find one yet, and I'm learning my first jet (F-16) coming from flying exclusively warbirds, so am trying to cram as much "general" knowledge as possible into my head. Both countries have experienced and well trained pilots also well maintaned jets. This is probably not gonna happen in future but if it's happen they would go like head to head.And also that fight was not fair. Cuz you were on israeli side 😀😄
