I have been a Tamiya fan for a long time . I just purchased a nib 201 and a new built 201 xmw . It’s amzing to see hiw the cars are almost carbon copy’s of the b4 and b5m.the xr brain at being the same as the b5. I have a conversion set to convert my xmw to the latest 211 plastic chassis car. I will have videos uploaded to my change as soon as the 201 arrives next week.
`Great video! I recently built a 6.3D to see what “modern” was like. My previous buggy was an RC10b2, and yeah - quite different. It’s really neat to “fill in the gaps” between those two cars. Fantastic explanation of all the differences. Thank you!
Good question. There are a couple of benefits to the aluminium chassis: lower centre of gravity, less chance of tweak, lower tooling costs. But as much as anything else, it was fashion. When cars with an alloy chassis were successful (winning races or getting envious looks in the pits), manufacturers would copy that.
Twenty years of progress! Let's look at this ancient artifact car, a historical artifact, practically sticks and rocks tied together with vines, from the ancient year of... ... ... 2003... I... I'll just go climb in my coffin now.
It took sooo long for manufacturer to release mid motor chassis . the X-factory X6 and atomic carbon S2 were forward thinking . just like the original Durango / BJ4 jconcepts & S4 atomic carbon . so many forgotten heroes in rc . and don't get me started on the Predator ...
Thanks for sharing, and a great analysis of the cars. I have a b4 FT car kit sill new in the box, and the same with the TRF201. I also have a B3 and a vintage RC10 (that I am restoring now). Cheers!
Great overview! My local track is set up for 1/8 outdoor racing and has relatively low grip and includes 1/10 classes. I love smokin’ modern modern mid motor buggies there with a 30 year old machine. 😁
Great vid for those of us returning to RC after 20+ years and scratching our heads over the fundamental design philosophy change. Makes you wonder if vintage buggies would still hold their own on dirt and grass.
Compared to other types of car (see 1/10 electric touring and F1 for example) I feel like this is the category that has evolved the least over the past 10 years.
@@fiveeight0sixsix update after first race weekend, TQ'd and finished 2nd, lost by .004. Was a photo finish and had a blast. Surprised It was still competitive
