I didn't know John was in one of Rob's solo projects... That's 2 absolutely killer guitar players Halford picked out of obscurity that would become ginormous names in the guitar world in the next decade... John 5 and Russ Parish/Satchel from Steel Panther... Hell you can say he plucked Richie Faulkner out of obscurity and that kid is going do some great things outside Priest
Couldn't agree more. On a whim, I wend to see this when they came through Seattle, and it was in a fairly small club. I was right on the stage, and was blown away by "that dude on guitar". He wasn't really known at the time; at least he hadn't blown up yet, and stole the show. The chemistry he had with Rob was awesome! They put on one hell of a show. Still one of my favorites.
Who could imagine after this performance that Halford would come up with an awesome solo album two years later and would revamp his career? Best singer ever.
This performance is stellar and I love the fact Halford is willing to discover new genres by far. Of course this is not his best effort but still interesting
I was lucky to find this whole set. Google "2wo live Wisconsin" and you should be able to find it. There's like 4 other songs or so and one that wasn't on Voyeurs. "Fight" I think it's called. Been a while since I've watched it.
Listen to the intro before the riff starts. Now go pull up the Ministry album Psalm 69 and listen to "Corrosion" on .75 speed. About 40 seconds into the song you'll hear it. It's even clearer on the pre Reznor studio demo version.
I really am a huge Halford fan and i love this album. I know allot of Priest fans hate it but i say fuck it this is heavier then most Priest, just in a different way. and John 5 its cool to see he is acting exactly like he did in Manson so mansion truly went to him and he made them better then left .
I wouldn't say that's it's heavier than most Priest... not by a long shot. But Voyeurs was a fine album. Not spectacular, but some really good tracks. "Bed of Rust" and "Stutter Kiss" are fantastic ! And goddamnit I love "I Am A Pig" too ! Really happy that i decided to flesh out my collection of albums from Rob's career nearly 2WO decades ago.
***** Well 2wo is a project of Halford and John 5 and to original demo's are way more guitar heavy. Trent Reznor fucked it all up in the mixing process. Watch John 5's interview with Eric Blair it sheds some light on this
Rob experimented with a different sound. Which is always a good thing, regardless of how terrible it is. The video for this song is chock full of HOF pornstars! That and Trent Reznor (regretting) producing the album are all I care to remember about this effort. Priest, Fight, and Halford were all great. I'm not sorry, Two real sucked.
Such a great song! With so 90's Industrial vibes ... I love it and just added it to my Shellshocked Radio Recommendation List: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M58YYdpScmA.html
Because he grew up watching Hee Haw and Buck Owens and Roy Clark played them a lot. He said in an interview he didn't know there was any other kind of guitar when he was young.
