This has to be listened to without prejudice. You can clearly tell Halford is having fun - he really lived up his days in that project. The best way to get yo know a band is seeing them live
I saw this tour. Loved seeing Rob do something different. Craziest part was the singer from a local Judas Priest tribute band was there. He was decked out in leather and looked EXACTLY like British Steel era Rob. 2wo comes out and I looked down and there is Brian directly in front of Rob singing along in sync. It looked like something out of the Twilight Zone.
That amazing thing is, the king of classic heavy metal, Rob Halford, had the open-mindedness to experiment with other genres within Metal is really cool and rare. Rob has gone back to the classic Metal sound since, but TWO, and FIGHT, and the heavier HALFORD show his willingness to explore outside of the style he started with. Really rare.
The "Gothic" & completely "out" Rob Halford (although he was never really "in the closet" was he?) looks really wicked. Songs still RAWK. What ever Rob does always turns out great!
@@DanielSanchez-ub2hk for the simple fact that the Metal God did something not considered metal. Metal was nearly extinct at this point. So Halford followed the next trend. He'd already been Pantera. Next was Manson. In 1999, heavy metal was having resurgence hence Halford.
I have to hear 2wo every time JP release a new album, and just rotate between the two for a while. This show was recorded so well on the audio. The video is pretty bitching, too. Thank you tons!
Cool Video I saw them here in AZ, I was like what??? sadly the band quit, I still have the CD, one project from Halford that will be a great inspiration to me
Wow! How is this possible that I never knew this existed? Long time Judas Priest fan and this blows me away. Band is hot (sorry I don’t know who any of them are but after reading your comments I now do). After watching this I located the album and it kicks ass (I hear Filter + Janes Addiction?). Thank you for sharing this.
Back then when I was young I felt Rob betrayed me. Now I understand more that he felt the need to do something completely different. I also have to admit it's still better live than on the studio record.
Looks to have been captured for news coverage or something, it’s that setup, the audio is soundboard, video isn’t professional but was probably authorised.
HOLY HELL.....this concert BLEW ME AWAY....new respect for John 5, he is one amazingly awesome guitar player, he hit those incredible Two songs note for goddamn note....used to listen to this album when I was camping with my buddy out near Julian, back country of San Diego in the woods, late 90s.....great memories of a simpler time.....
Halford das always an experimental kind of musician. From Priest to Fight and from Halford to the new Judas. Nobody can talk about a god on earth like him!
Ive seen 2wo open a festival gig for Bad REligion. I saw Fight open for Metallica.. and i saw Halford open for Iron Maiden. Ive never seen Judas Priest. Everything Rob Halford touches, turns to gold.
the growl at 7:47... #dying... i can picture rob halford being young singing for one of these current bands nowadays with that style... he'd still break the internet
2wo was a very interesting project by Halford, and I liked the album Voyeurs. In fact, I consider Bed of Rust to be among Halford's greatest songs. But as others have said, this project was so much of a divergence from the traditional metal sound of Priest and Fight that it was close to impossible to find acceptance. On the bright side, it did lead to Halford recapturing that song in his solo band, which then lead to him rejoining Priest.
'Voyeurs' was an interesting mix of a whole bunch of different alternative rock and metal sounds that were popular at the time, but there were many problems. Firstly, their image didn't always work with the music; they had a bit of an identity crisis. Secondly, Halford was too old at the time to market Two to NIN fans who were mostly in their teens and 20's. Thirdly, Two lacked a real standout song like 'More Human Than Human' or 'The Beautiful People' that could have elevated them above the pack. 'I'm A Pig', 'Water's Leaking' and 'Gimp' all pretty good songs, but they aren't A grade examples of industrial/electro rock/metal. Overall it was an interesting experiment for Halford and it still sounds good today, unlike most of that stuff from the mid to late 90's, and it would have been cool to hear at least one more album from them, but 'Voyeurs' was such a spectacular failure that recording another album simply wasn't an option.
5 is definitely in character.....sorry that I missed this line up. Rob is my favorite by far. Saw him play Fight and Halford. and of course, with Priest probably ten times 🤘
I saw this show at The Palace in Hollywood. SO GOOD!!! Rob was all fit and looking hot!! he opened his shirt and had a six pack....i miss the 90's!!! And John 5 runnin' round in a tutu ...what a good show!!!
Incorrect. Trent had NOTHING to do with this record. Just his label. Was recorded in Vancouver. Phil Western and Anthony Vu. More Skinny Puppy clan than Nails.
I saw two at Mississippi nights in St Louis Missouri. It was absolutely amazing. This video is the s***. Can't believe no one has commented about the weather the wind must be gusting at 50 mph the dust from the mosh pit is killer
I remember all the people talking shit about him and this record still Yeats after it came out even when he rejoined priest.. this record is definitely good. just different.. it's for a ministry and nine inch nails kinda metal head.. people who love the straight up priest style not so much.. I still think waters leaking is a good tune ..Jon 5 does some great guitar work on this record.
Maybe I'm just biased, but seriously Rob Halford can do no wrong in my eyes. I've not really heard anything by Two, but if this video is anything to go by, then it just proves that Rob really CAN NOT do anything wrong. See, I told you so. Some amazing guitar playing by John 5 needs mentioning as well. He probably comes from some parallel universe. I'd really like to go there. 🇬🇧
@blablabloly Thanks!! I would love to hear the recorded version. Especially if the live version is this good. Do you have the unreleased song "In My Head" by them? I can't find that anywhere.
hi , thanks for this vid , i have listening this since that Two start to exist and now I can watch this live ... thank You very much !! PS. Can U send me also the link with the japanese version :)
anyone know the last song they do its not on the album "get up and show?" i like it would like to find it not sure if it ever came out or what its called.
It's wonderful song called "Shout". He sings "get up and shout". It's unrealeased but completely recorded/mixed song presented like a part of so-called "pre-Reznor mixes" songs package Halford made available to download at his site in 2002. You can find this song here on RU-vid.
i saw him doing Two on Hurricane-Festival in Germany and expecting at least some Priest covers. I startet at that time to love Priest and Fight. It was very strange and disturbing to see the "Metal God" almost naked only wearing a Calvin Klein-Slip and grabbing his balls while singing.
