the results is within margin of error, no significant difference, but i think a fine tuned 2x16 timing is better for ryzen, as it is easier for the memory controller to handle rather than 4 sticks

Even though performance is the same, you don't want to go 4x8 because you're much less likely to hit 6000mhz with 4 DIMMs vs 2. It also means you can't upgrade to 64GB in the future if it becomes necessary.

2x16GB anyday, you can push much higher frequencies and tighter timings with dual channel.

cpu with huge 3d cache doesn’t such depend on memory speed. Need test with 7500f or equal low segment cpus.

So with the extra stability you get with running 2 sticks in dual channel did you increase frequency or lower timings? If you kept timings the same then that would mean it's literally the same because of dimm ranks...

I had always wondered this and I’m glad you uploaded this video and used a Ryzen CPU since it is very finicky with RAM. So bottom line, it doesn’t make that much of a difference.

What timings you choose, how we know difference? Not all motherboard can choose same timings in 4 and dual channels.

For a game like Hogwarts, what is preventing it from running faster when both the CPU and GPU usage is so low?

Only difference I see is the "1% Lows"; two sticks is slightly better than four sticks.

Im using 4x8GB 3200Mhz - Intel i5 12600k for 2K Gaming and I think some games do get tiny slighty better but somes arent well optimized, drop few fps. Overall there is no difference

I actually wanna know what happend to The Witcher 3... after that next gen update, or whatever it was, the cpu optimization is terrible...they don't wanna fix that?

3:40 ok this confirms it. what i have noticed is, other than it will differ amongst titles, but in 1440p and higher, 2 sticks performs better in games. and when it comes to productivity software, 2 sticks out performs 4 pretty much every time. So my suggestion, if you a gamer or dedicated gaming machine, consider 4 sticks... even if u are a 1440 gamer. if u more in to productivity, definitely 2 sticks.

Memory-controllers prefer 2 sticks, simple as.

Remember kids dual channel always...

Bei dem Hogwarts Legacy Test steht oben 4x8GB im linken Fenster und 2x16GB unten im linken Fenster das ist seltsam.

2x16 will ultimately win once you throw Overcloking into the mix. Much easier to get super tight timings and higher memory clocks as there's less load on the IMC. Will be marginal in games but a difference nonetheless.

From the tests I saw, on AM4 CPUs 4x8GB was better than 2x16GB. Now with AM5 it seems that the difference has disappeared.

The only difference is that it's much harder to reach higher frequencies with 4 modules. You'll need more expensive motherboard board and high quality RAM. For AMD x3d CPUs 6000 is sweet spot so 4 modules is ok but If you need to get 7200 or higher for Intel I would get 2 modules

In my personal experience since AM5 trying to make 4 dimms to work at their EXPO/XMP rated frequency is a pain in the butt, I have to change my 4X16GB @6000 Hz CL30 for 2 X 32GB same speed since with 4 dimm's the most I can achieve was like 5200 MHz and 2 dimms work flawesly at 6000 and even I can OC a little bit if I want!

This is first time in hystori that performance is the same, more or less. Amd usualy has dual channel memory not quad channel like intel, but even amd benefited with 4 dimm-s. This is something new. 🤔

IMC only uses 128bits (2 dimms)

Really depends if Motherboard supports Quad Channel Memory or only Dual Channel Memory.. Quad Channel Memory with 4 x 8 GB would be faster but not if motherboard is only Dual Channel.

What do you expect when the cpu load is only 25%? Its pointless. Anyway this cpu has only dual channel, so 2 sticks are perfect.

So 2 FPS difference... just stick to 2X16GB at least you'll have room for upgrade.

Neither Video Description or Video itself is explaining what type of RAM Module unless you browse for that particular RAM. Long story short: 4 Sticks of 8 GB RAM at Single Rank Dual Channel is the fastest 4 Sticks of 8 GB RAM at Dual Rank Dual Channel is slower than above 2 Sticks of 16 GB RAM at Single Rank Dual Channel is slower than above 2 Sticks of 16 GB RAM at Dual Rank Dual Channel is the slowest of them all Rule of thumb, always buy Single Rank RAM if you want the most performance. That's also the reason why Single Rank RAM is significantly more expensive than Dual Rank RAM None of the Rules above applies to CAMM2 DDR5 Module, because it is a league of its own. Also Faster than them all

No difference with AMD CPU, maybe intel will much different.
