Their policy is relatively strict compared to other carriers but it's not unreasonable IMO. I appreciate the fact that they take pride in their appearance. I think the drivers dreadlocks looked good and professional, but the problem is the length being against policy. If the driver can prove what he said, that another driver had hair just as long as him if not longer, then he potentially has a case. TMC should enforce their policy universally.

That person in the picture with the dreads , if it's who I think it is he's definitely been there while I was there and exactly what you said he said is exactly what happend AND MORE to others and we all wondered how and why tf ! In my class in orientation, one of the guys fell asleep during the class we were in. The class room phone rang, he was called to go to the other room down the hall and that was the last we saw him. When mr Harold Annette was alive this company was ran very strict. In my personal opinion, the strictness has lessened and thats mainly because the company is mostly in corporate hands to my knowledge. I appreciate the strictness and standard TMC holds. Could the pay be a bit better ESPECIALLY, being a flatbedder? Yes. I have enjoyed my time here so far of almost 4years and have little criticism other then pay and maybe communication hiccups here and there. I encourage anyone who wants to get introduced to trucking to come to tmc to get your feet wet in the trucking industry because i beleive they have one of the best training programs to my knowledge. Its strict and they have securement standards 2nd to none to my knowledge. Oversecurement haha The whole thing with the grass in my opinion is that it is to show how disciplined and well you follow simple rules. If you can't do the simple thing as not walking on grass, what are you going to do when you're on your own and no one sees?
@SufferMeNow
@SufferMeNow Месяц назад
I'm still going to walk on grass. Been driving for 2 years and knock on wood, never had a single issue driving. "Trainers" are mostly there for the money they make off you, securement is not hard and I say let the Darwin Award show begin. The Pendulum swings both ways with that statement. The last time I checked since I started, it's like any other job but at least if there's a problem, I can say something and Captain this ship how I want to and if they fuck up bad enough as a company; I can report them and still keep doing my thing. Never once have I had a issue with my appearance(beard and hair) even wear my hat backwards. So what. I wear a shirt, jeans with a belt and steel toe boots. I'm there to be comfortable in my own skin, not theirs. I'm there to make them money and in turn, get paid for delivering the load. Even then as a company driver years back, they were actually pulling 80-90k a year after taxes, now you'd be lucky to see 55k after taxes. So in all of their bullshit, they better up the money before barking orders or they can end up like Western Express, Swift, Werner, etc.

A lot of trucking companies are real good about telling you what they require and what they won’t put up with. What they’re not good with is paying you for all the ancillary shit you gotta go through just to get their load delivered, Waiting for hours just to do your job without pay, and dealing with issues that cost you time and money. When any of that happens, that’s when the runaround begins. I wouldn’t work for a mega carrier if my life depended on it.,

I think back to the week long orientation that i put in to us xpress years ago. They were weading people out left and right. So its pretty much like any major company. But one thing i do knkw is, they say read the company rulebook. Then you sign a piece of paper saying that you accept the the rules of that rulebook. And if you have a problem with it, you can choose a different spot to work. It's as simple as that. That dude could go get a declatory judgment and then let the judge decide and it will be a non issue. I don't think he could even use a religious excuse to get by with having long hair. They could bring up the company handbook and say, hey you signed the paper and you agreed to the terms and conditions. And that's that. It's cut and dry.

I served in the Marines and to this day I avoid walking on the grass in public places. My kids think I’m weird… they are right, but it’s also just part of the brainwashing that happens while serving in the military. A trucking company would have to be paying me some damn good money every week plus give me full medical, dental and vision without copays that covers all medical expenses for all of my family and a full ride college fund to any four year university to make me put up with arbitrary rules. I will say that the hygiene and some of the other policies aren’t bad ideas however, why let women wear earrings and have long hair but not the men? If it’s about safety then the same rule should apply to both parties. People can have neat and clean appearance and have long hair at the same time.

Original owner was ex military …this is simple if you have a problem with the policy find another job. As a business owner whether you agree or not TMC has a right to set its company policy as they desire. They make no bones about explaining it to you and making sure you understand. It never seems to amaze me of the people that come there and think they are gonna over turn the policy.. if you don’t agree find a different company. I work at TMC for 2 1/2 yrs and I can say it’s not the hair style that’s the problem, it’s the length, and being neat and having a clean cut appearance that is there focus. So if you have a big hair style that’s protruding out of your hard hat that would not be clean cut. I did my time there I respect TMC and there rules are there rules.. that person should think if he owned a company would he want someone to come to his company and try to change core rules that the company was built upon. Harold Annette was a military man and he built some of what he gained in the military into his company and you have to respect that and I do. Not coming from an outsider I was there from 2020 -22

Hell yes, they need to bring professionalism back to the Trucking industry. When my father drove in the 70s and 80s he had to keep 2 pressed shirts in the cab and he always wore black boots and decent jeans. When I drove in the two-thousand teens, the driver's were sloppy, wore sweat pants and shower slippers. Since I am in retirement mode, the driver's i see at the truck stops, I fuel my Rv at, have all gotten quite a bit heavier than I remember.
